Another new horse for the group

Take Your Time :  P.Nicholls   £54 a share

Quote

Take Your Time is a strong five-year-old gelding. He was an impressive winner of his only point-to-point start in December 2019. He is an imposing individual by Dubai Destination, who is also the sire of the top-class Elegant Escape, winner of the 2018 Welsh Grand National.

Take Your Time is to be trained by 11-time Champion Jumps Trainer, Paul Nicholls.

Take Your Time could run in a bumper this spring, before going hurdling next autumn and winter. Alternatively, Paul Nicholls may decide to go straight over hurdles in late spring so that Take Your Time will remain a novice for the entire 2020/2021 season.

Seems I have my first runner tomorrow - Miranda in the 14.05 at Muss. A competitive Class 2 handicap. Up 9lbs for win at Kempton, which seemed a touch cosily. A couple of course specialists. Sir Chauvalin looks good last race gave 20+ lengths and still came down the straight and won. Would have liked it softer but rain is in the forecast. Missed 2 entries last Saturday one in Class 2 one was a Class 1. Must have a chance if reproducing last run. Here’s hoping and that she comes home safe and sound.

Finished the race off poorly, having looked a possible winner. No race report from the trainer yet, looked like she got to the front too soon when others disappeared quickly and possibly the ground was too quick for her. Good performance considering the extra weight carried. Can’t criticise the ride by Bryony but she choose to win on 3 of her other rides, which of course I didn'’t back!

For interest.

Dear Dramatista owner,

Dramatista has been entered for the race at Lingfield on Saturday over 6 furlongs.

There are no other options for her in February so we will be taking our chance all being well.

Looking at the field there are a couple of fillies in there who could set a fair standard, but based on what we know I would be going there hopeful of a big run.

Gilka has been declared to run in the following race:

3.45 Ludlow - Two C's Antiques Fillies Juvenile Hurdle (Class 4) 2m :hope

Harry Skelton booked for the ride :)

:ok

Not a bad first run over the sticks, apart from 1 small hiccup seemed to have taken to hurdles quite well, just beaten for second close home and well clear of the 2 fancied horses who finished out with the washing.

Dram runs on Saturday,  I'm taking the risk she will need the race and not make the 5hr journey to lingfield ,hopefully she will give a good account of herself and be primed for Wolverhampton on the 2nd march.

I just cant catch a break at the moment. Just shows the highs and lows of ownership,  paid my share of  another 12 mths training fees in January in the hope of recouping something before she goes to the December sales .

Dear Dramatista owner,

I have just received some disappointing news from Archie.

Dramatista was found to be 2 out of 5 lame in her near hind at evening stables yesterday. An X-ray has revealed she has an undisplaced fracture of her pelvic wing.

This is extremely disappointing news, and terrible timing just a day before she was due to run. Archie says she is definitely worth persevering with as she had shown plenty of ability at home.

The prognosis is good; pelvic injuries are injuries that the majority of horses get over so we will start the process of getting her mended and well.

She will now require 6 weeks box rest, before 4 weeks walking and then she can be ridden again.

I will aim to get her home as soon as possible and start her recuperation.

After the race, Tom Cannon said that Jaboticaba jumped and travelled well, before tiring in the straight. Alan King said that he had hoped for a better run from Jaboticaba and he will ask the vet to scope him next week, just to check that he is 100% healthy

Feb Training update :

CROCODILE POWER

He is currently at the Grange after being broken in, he was a very nice horse to break in and he is a lovely mover. There is a lot of promise with this horse. He will be in full training come April, we will be expecting him to be on the track around August time. It’s still early days but I can expect he’ll want 6 furlongs.

LGT running on Sunday

Quote

Last Golden Ticket has been declared to run in the following race:

On Sunday, 23 February, Last Golden Ticket is declared to run in the 2.30 at Wolverhampton, a Class 4 'Jumper's Bumper' over 2m ½f.

There are 11 declared runners and Brian Hughes is booked to ride Last Golden Ticket, who will wear a tongue strap.

Donald McCain says that Last Golden Ticket has been working well at home since his wind operation, following his run at Sedgefield last month. Donald says that Last Golden Ticket runs on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, at this additional race meeting created specifically for Jumpers, as he is ready to run and so many Jumps meetings have been abandoned lately, so suitable options with the decent ground are non-existent at the moment. Donald says Last Golden Ticket has been declared to run in this particular race, rather than the first race on the card, in which he was also entered, as he would otherwise have been burdened with a weight penalty thanks to his bumper win at Sligo last summer. Donald also runs Carry On in this race, who is handicapper over hurdles, but has a Flat pedigree and could run well and likes decent ground, so may improve for this switch to the all-weather, having run on testing ground on his last two starts. Donald is happy with what Last Golden Ticket has shown at home, but further to his wind operation and the fitment of a tongue strap - to eliminate the possibility of his tongue impeding his breathing during the race - he hopes to see an improved performance on the racecourse.

12/1 at the minute, happy for him to be in first 6 and not tailed off.

Good News

I have got a place for the stable visit to Donald McCains yard, for those that dont know the 3,000 owners could apply and were then put into a ballot. Its on March 23rd so should be able to get plenty of photos.

Not So Good News

Race Report

Quote

After the race, Brian Hughes reported that Last Golden Ticket travelled well but didn't go on the all-weather surface when asked to quicken towards the finish, which he said felt as if it was riding soft. Brian also reported that Last Golden Ticket didn't make a noise as he had done at Sedgefield, prior to his wind operation. Donald McCain said Last Golden Ticket travelled great through the race but was disappointing when he came off the bridle. However, Donald attributed this to the ground, which he felt had probably been harrowed quite deeply and that at least this race had put to bed any question marks regarding Last Golden Ticket's breathing. To help Last Golden Ticket finish his races better, Donald says he feels the next step is to wait for better weather and better ground in the spring, and run over hurdles, before making further judgement.

3m chaser you mark my words?
