StevieDay1983
The third week of Primeira Liga action is up this weekend. Benfica and Famalicao are the only two sides with a 100% record after two matches. It's a tricky start for us punters so let's share some predictions and see if we can make some profit on this round. GreatCaco
Benfica vs Porto - BENFICA WIN Huge game between the best teams in the Championship. Benfica have been looking very good under Bruno Lage and after some great wins over the last season and the great start of this season must have enough to beat a weeker Porto side that have been going through a tough time. Boavista vs Paços de Ferreira - BOAVISTA AH (0) Boavista is a tough side to beat especially at home where they keep a 5 winning streak. They will face a recent promoted Paços de Ferreira that lost the coach of the last season and is still adapting to the new manager. Playing at home and after a great start of the season Boavista should have another winnable game. Portimonense vs Sporting - BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE Sporting is the clear favorite for this game but they haven't looked so good this season with some difficulties especially at the back. Playing a Portimonense team that have a lot of fire power i can see it being a very open game with chances for both sides. StevieDay1983
Maritimo vs Tondela The Primeira Liga action enters its third week of matches and I'm going back to Tondela to lay to rest the ghost of the first round of matches when they drew 0-0 with Vitoria Setubal. This week, they visit Maritimo for a 4pm BST kick-off on Sunday at the Estadio do Maritimo. The big game this weekend might be between Benfica and Porto but I'll leave that for you guys to discuss. Maritimo will be hoping to bring the glory days back to the club. Nuno Manta is the man charged with doing that but so far it isn't working with the club having only taken 1 point from their opening 2 league games. Their last result in the league was a 3-1 loss away to Desportivo das Aves but the solitary point they possess in the league was a 1-1 draw at home against Sporting CP. It's a decent performance to build on and if they can use their home form as a foundation then it could get some momentum going. Tondela let us down last time by not only not letting their opponents win (selfish!) but then also failing to score. Natxo Gonzalez has seen his team also toil with just 1 point from their 2 league matches thus far. Their last result was a 2-1 loss at home to Portimonense. When you consider that their opponents in their opening game 0-0 draw were down to 10 men, there's understandably a bit of pessimism floating around the club. The head-to-head statistics don't read well for Tondela fans in this fixture. Maritimo have won 6 of the last 8 meetings and have managed to keep clean sheets in in 3 of their last 4 wins over their opponents here. Furthermore, Maritimo have won all four of their previous home matches against Tondela and that includes keeping a clean sheet in each of those games. I'm tipping the same here with Tondela's attacking issues still clear to see.
