StevieDay1983 Posted August 24, 2019 Author Share Posted August 24, 2019 PEC Zwolle vs Sparta The Eredivisie once again offers up one of the less traditionally fashionable matches as the one that has piqued my interest. It's the match between PEC Zwolle and Sparta that's set to kick-off at 3:45pm BST on Sunday afternoon at the MACPARK Stadion. Can the team at the rock bottom of the league finally get their points tally off the mark against a visiting side that have had a very decent start to the season? PEC Zwolle are finding life difficult in the Eredivisie this season. John Stegeman's side finished mid-table last season but it's not been quite as positive so far this campaign with the club propping up the league in 20th place without a single point to their name and a goal difference of -7. Results need to improve quickly otherwise the Blauwvingers risk being cut off at the bottom of the league. Sparta are enjoying life slightly more in the top flight of Dutch football. Henk Fraser's men earned promotion via the play-offs from the Eerste Divisie last season and were tipped to be in a relegation battle but 7 points from their first 3 league games suggest they could be a bit of a surprise package this season. The 2-2 draw away to Feyenoord was a particularly impressive statement for them to make. Both teams have shown enough willingness in attack to suggest that we should see some goals in this game. Sparta have been especially decent with their 8 goals in 3 league games so far. When you consider that PEC Zwolle have seen over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of their last 5 games. I think the away team are in fine fettle to take the win here but it could be a frenetic encounter.
