Portsmouth vs Rochdale

The League One issues at both ends of the table need to be resolved and they are both in play here when promotion-chasing Portsmouth host relegation-threatened Rochdale in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday at Fratton Park. Will the form book dictate the winner or will we see an upset?

Portsmouth are only 3 points behind the automatic promotion spots in 4th place in the table. Kenny Jackett's side also have a game in hand on 3rd place Barnsley but unfortunately that one match advantage is not the same for 2nd placed Sunderland. Pompey have won four league games on the bounce scoring 10 goals in the process. They only have the 6th best home record in the division but have still only lost 3 matches on home turf in the league.

Rochdale are arguably punching above their weight in 19th place with many tipping them for relegation before the season started. Brian Barry-Murphy has replaced Keith Hill as manager at the start of this month and the result has been a hard-fought 2-1 loss at home to Sunderland followed by a gritty win away to Accrington. It's left the Dale 2 points above the drop zone and with a fighting chance of survival.

The bookies clearly fancy Portsmouth to win this and it's easy to see why. I don't think Rochdale will make it easy for them here and will likely set up for the draw. This is a Pompey team that are frightening on the attack right now though and if Rochdale think they can batten down the hatches for a point then they'll be on a hiding to nothing. Home win and even more Portsmouth goals being scored!

Oldham vs Swindon

It's a battle of two former Premier League clubs in League Two this weekend when Oldham welcome Swindon to Boundary Park in this 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are in mid-table but they're still very much in the hunt for a play-off place so winning this game is vital.

Oldham are on their third manager of the season already after Pete Wild was chosen to lead the side after the short-lived and ill-fated reign of Paul Scholes. The Latics are in 11th place and 5 points off the play-offs but do possess a game in hand on the teams around them. Wild has led his side to three straight wins with three clean sheets so times are good at the club as they try to gatecrash the play-off party.

Swindon sit one place above their opponents in this game in 10th place but have played a game more. The Robins are just 3 points off the play-off pace so it's all to play for. Richie Wellens has done a cracking job since he was appointed back in November and they're currently on a five game unbeaten run.

Recent meetings between these sides have seen Swindon fail to breach the Oldham defences on three of the last four encounters. Given Oldham's recent defensive strength it would be worth backing them to keep a clean sheet here as well. It's a big call but I'm in the mood for a long shot. Oldham to win 1-0 or 2-0.

Forfar v Dumbarton.

Forfar have a very good home record and are fighting it out for a 2nd place finish. They've beaten Dumbarton 3 times already this season and I expect them to do it again today. Dumbarton do score a few goals but they concede a lot as well and are generally pretty poor on the road. The odds on the home win look a shade high to me.

Forfar win @ 2.40.
