It's a strange week in this section this week. We have the SPL matches in midweek instead of on the weekend due to the Scottish FA Cup 5th Round. This also means we have a mix and match of games in the rest of the Scottish schedule. However, League 1 and 2 is unaffected. Check out the odds and ratings here then let us know your bets! :ok

Charlton vs Southend

League One offers up what appears to be a very reasonably priced home win when play-off chasing Charlton host mid-table Southend in this 3pm kick-off at The Valley this coming Saturday. Is there something I'm missing because the spread of price across the bookies is roughly 0.20 when it would seem the home win looks the best bet.

Charlton are enjoying a decent season under Lee Bowyer. The Addicks are 5th place in the league and comfortably inside the play-off positions. It would take a huge drop in form to see them tail off and miss out on the top six so they can afford to look a little higher at the automatic promotion spots that are only 5 points away.

Southend are all about consolidation this season. Last season's 13th place finish is being repeated with the Shrimpers in 12th place right now. Chris Powell has got a solid team together down at Roots Hall but they have become the epitome of inconsistency having lost their last two league matches but before that having lost one and won one for the previous 11 league games.

It is the south east London club that dominate the head-to-head having won 8, drawn 2, and lost 1 of the last 11 meetings between these two clubs. The last time Southend took a victory away from The Valley was way back on 5th March, 1996. A lot has changed since then.

The Shrimpers are an all or nothing team on the road. It's 6 wins, 1 draw, and 7 losses for Powell's side in away league matches. That won't be good news for them compared to Charlton's decent home record of 10 wins, 3 draws, and 2 defeats at The Valley this season in the league.

This game has got a home win written all over it. Charlton have their concerns having failed to win their last two league games without scoring a goal. However, Bowyer's side have lost just 1 of their last 6 league games. They're an incredibly tough side to beat at home so I fully expect them to take the three points here.

A difficult situation for Macclesfield. Inside the relegation zone but only two points down of the safe area giving great fight and have a good weapon. THE FRONT LINE. Seven goals at the last five games is a good result for a team in the relegation zone. This home game against Crewe and the next at home again with Colchester are crucial games. Crewe for me has an outburst and shortly comes in lower strength levels.

Sol Campbell's reign as Macclesfield manager started really well but they've lost their last two league games. Crewe are unbeaten in their last four league games including winning their last three league matches. It's a brave call to back Macclesfield in this one!

Portsmouth crucial absenties destroyed the stability of the team. This time Portsmouth`s lines is cut off in my opinion. Pompeys has big problem right now at the defence blocking sector. One draw and three defeats the results and Portsmouth fall in play-off positions of the table. Now coming the hungry Plymouth with four wins and one lost game and three wins in the row at home to need points for escape from the relegation zone. Smell a draw here from a long way.

Lincoln vs Northampton

Top of the table Lincoln will look to continue their charge to League One this weekend when they welcome mid-table Northampton to Sincil Bank for this 3pm kick-off this Saturday. The home side will look to extend their 7-game unbeaten run in the league as the travelling side hope to build on their win last weekend.

Lincoln are evolving well as a club under the management of Danny Cowley. The club's rise from the non-league depths has coincided with high media attention after impressive cup runs. Their position at the top of the League Two tree has been well-earned and their undefeated start to 2019 in the league is still going strong.

Northampton have probably been most renowned this season for signing former Hashtag United starlet Scott Pollock. The 17 year old has made one appearance for the club and it's a positive story in an otherwise forgettable season so far. Keith Curle's solid start to his tenure as manager after replacing the outgoing Dean Austin has slowed up a bit. The club is now in 16th place but 10 points clear of relegation. However, the form of just 2 wins in their last 10 league games will be a concern.

The Imps have only suffered one defeat at home all season and that came in a 1-0 loss to Crawley back on 8th September, 2018. The Cobblers have only won 4 of their 15 away matches. Immediately, it looks like an uphill battle for the away side. I just can't see them getting anything here.
