The next round of Serie A games are coming up this weekend and it's a first ever double batch this week with Serie B now being covered as well. Take a look at the odds and ratings for both. Hopefully, this breathes a bit of new life into this section that can often be a tricky one for punters.

Lazio V Sampdoria

Lazio are in a slightly awkward moment having not won any of their last 4 games (all competitions). The Biancocelesti are creating lots of chances but failing to convert.

Sampdoria were also on a poor run of form until recently, they have managed to win their last 2 games (all competitions) which should boost their confidence heading into this match.

Key goal metrics only favour Lazio slightly here, the main concern is that ELO ratings give the home side nearly a two goal advantage over their opponents. Despite this, we must bear in mind that Sampdoria have a noticeably superior chance conversion rate over Lazio which explains the vast disparity between goal metrics and ELO ratings for this match.

Technobabble aside, I do feel Sampdoria are a team which can make life difficult for Lazio here. The pressure should be on the home side and it's a big ask for them to clear a -1.5 handicap given the circumstances.

Sampdoria +1.5 AH @ 1.7 or bigger is worth a punt in my view.

Cagliari v Roma

Roma won't care about the midweek CL round since everything is already decided there.

Some important absentees on both sides:

Cagliari miss Barella and Castro, both important blows.

Roma miss Dzeko, De Rossi, El Shaarawy, Coric and Pellegrini. So the attacking duo will be Kluivert and Schick.

Cagliari are still unbeaten at home so far, with 2 wins and 4 draws, while Roma have won just 2 travels out of 7, and are winless on the road in last 3.

Udinese vs Atalanta

The advantage of doing a delayed preview on Italian football is that most of the games take place on a Sunday anyway so we are spoilt for choice. I've decided to have a bit of a social experiment with it this weekend. Long-term readers will know what a pain in the rear Atalanta have been for us so I'm choosing their 2pm kick-off tomorrow with Udinese at the Dacia Arena for this preview.

Udinese are in 16th place and the first half of the season struggles saw the club sack former head coach Julio Velazquez and replace him with former Bari and Crotone gaffer Davide Nicola. Results have improved since the new man came in with the club winning 1-0 against Roma and then holding Sassuolo (another pain in our rear!) to a 0-0 draw. Defensive stability is forming the foundation of Nicola's new regime.

Atalanta are in 11th place but suffering from a couple of poor results. Gian Piero Gasperini had seen his team win four league games in a row as October turned into November. However, back-to-back defeats to Empoli and Napoli have stalled their progress and kept them in the lower half of the table.

The Little Zebras have only lost 1 of their last 9 Serie A matches against Atalanta. To add even more concern to the away side's hopes in this game, Udinese are unbeaten in their last 7 competitive games against Atalanta. The form book doesn't make for pleasant reading for Atalanta.

I'm going to show some faith in the home side. They appear rejuvenated under the new head coach. Atalanta remain guilty of inconsistency that has plagued their league performances for seasons now. Until that changes, I'm going to be reluctant to back them. I wonder if they'll finally do us a favour and roll over here? Let's hope so! Udinese to pick up something here. Not sure if that'll be a win or draw!
