The La Liga waits for nobody with the next batch of fixtures for this weekend scheduled. Here are the odds and ratings. There's still a plethora of midweek matches to get through starting tonight so feel free to cast any early comments in here before making more informed tips later in the week.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid

Well, all the focus of this weekend's La Liga action has to be centered on the Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in a 7:45pm kick-off this Saturday night. Neither side has enjoyed the ideal start to the season so that makes it an even more intriguing tie to consider betting on.

Real Madrid are living life post-Cristiano Ronaldo and it seems they are lacking that certain X factor that the Portuguese captain used to bring. Gareth Bale is the new lead man at the Bernabeu and even though he has impressed, his team mates are not all reaching the same level. Still, Julen Lopetegui's side are 2nd in La Liga and only held off the top spot by Barcelona on goal difference.

It's just unusual for both Real Madrid and Barcelona to have dropped points in two games already after just six league matches. Real suffering their first defeat of the season in their midweek match against away to Sevilla. In fact, the 3-0 score-line suggests it was more like a complete humbling at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Atletico Madrid had a torrid start despite their UEFA Super Cup win over Real at the start of the season. Just 1 win in their first 4 La Liga matches left Diego Simeone needing to address a number of issues. The club has bounced back with two wins on the bounce with two clean sheets in the process. However, they face slightly better opposition than Getafe and Huesca this weekend.

Atletico boast the better recent head-to-head record. Including the UEFA Super Cup victory earlier in the season, Atletico have won 2 and there have been 2 draws in the last 4 meetings between these two sides. They have also been entertaining affairs with both teams scoring in three of those four matches.

I'm a big fan of Simeone's management style. His progressive philosophy with an emphasis on a solid defensive base is not everyone's cup of tea but I love it. That's why I have to back them in a double chance here. I'm not sure everything is right at Real Madrid. Mauricio Pochettino continues to see his name linked to the club suggesting Real aren't completely confident Lopetegui is the right man.

You know they're ruthless at Madrid and if Lopetegui loses matches 3-0 then the impatient people in power at the Bernabeu will already be keeping a close eye on future performances. That means pressure on Real to get a result here and that's pressure that Atletico will have the experience to exploit.

the only team that has stepped up in this league is sevilla and the rest are just pure crap. valencia haven't won in 6 tries and real sociedad can't stop conceding even when you side with them at home and the lower teams are actually quite good this year. i expect sevilla to win and villareal and that's going to be my double
