Sampdoria demonstrated to be a good team when they play at home. DNB Sampdoria (2.06 on Betfair Exchange) may be a good bet. StevieDay1983 Posted September 20, 2018 Author Share Posted September 20, 2018 AC Milan vs Atalanta Serie A throws up an intriguing fixture this weekend when two under-performing mid-table sides go head-to-head in an attempt to break their underwhelming starts to the season. AC Milan will play Atalanta in a 5pm kick-off this Sunday afternoon at the San Siro. Gennaro Gattuso remains in charge at the Milan club after a change of owners during the summer. Former chairman Li Yonghong failed to repay a loan owned. This saw ownership transferred to Elliott Management Corporation with Paolo Scaroni becoming the new chairman. The uncertainty behind the scenes has meant that the new owners have been keen to stamp their own mark on the team with a number of additions to the team. Despite AC Milan not getting the desired results, they have endured a tough start to the campaign. The 3-2 defeat away to Napoli was hardly a surprise. The 2-1 win against Roma was a positive result. Then the 1-1 draw away to Cagliari was slightly disappointing but not a disaster. Gian Piero Gasperini and his Atalanta team have already stung us on here a few times this season with their inconsistent domestic and European form. Their three games in Serie A so far have produced a 4-0 win at home to Frosinone, a 3-3 draw away with Roma, and then two back-to-back losses to Cagliari at home and SPAL away. The worrying thing for Gasperini is that his team haven't scored in over 188 minutes of football. My opinion is that AC Milan's league position doesn't truly reflect their performances so far. They've not had the best of luck with their first fixtures. They've given a good account of themselves in every game as you'd expect under Gattuso. I think Atalanta's early start in the Europa League has spun their heads a bit. I'm definitely backing AC Milan to win this here. Atalanta's lack of fire power recently has me thinking this could be a low-scoring game. At home they have been untouchable in 3 games and I expect that to continue against weak and unstable Empoli side who will have a very hard time playing this game away from home.
