StevieDay1983
A mix and match weekend of action in this section coming up! The Scottish League Cup means that SPL and Scottish Championship sides are in action elsewhere. I'll look to get those odds up in the cup section when they become available. So it's just League 1, League 2, and the newly added Scottish League 1 and Scottish League 2. The ELO ratings are back for League 1 and League 2 so check them out above and give us your tips for the games this week!
StevieDay1983
Portsmouth vs Oxford The League One season enters its third round of games after some midweek EFL Cup action and one of the stand-out games in terms of value is high-flying Portsmouth welcoming a struggling Oxford to Fratton Park for a 3pm kick-off this Saturday afternoon. Kenny Jackett's side showed that all focus is on the league this season after losing 2-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup 1st Round. Two wins from their first two league games has put them in a strong position and they are certain to want to build on that positive start this weekend. Karl Robinson has really struggled to put his imprint on this U's side. The club is sat bottom of League One after back-to-back defeats without a single goal registered. A midweek win over Coventry in the EFL Cup won't have harmed their morale but they'll still have that monkey on their shoulder of failing to score until that first goal comes. This is a tale of two clubs with contrasting fortunes to start their league campaigns. Jackett is an excellent appointment by Portsmouth and it appears he's brought his magic touch at this level once again. It's early days but I fully expect Pompey to add another win to their encouraging start. Oxford might score but they will probably have to wait another week for that elusive first win. willie82
Agree about Pompey going well and should beat an Oxford side that have offered little going forward and can't see them stopping pompy's good quality attack. I also like Barnsley as they have scored a lot and conceded none. Wimbledon are no mugs though and there is possibly little value on the 8/

allyhibs
Albion v Elgin. Pretty much the same reason for this bet as last weeks Peterhead tip. Albion lost their whole first team 2 weeks ago and were forced into bringing in players from the junior leagues, they will struggle big time this season. Elgin have had a solid start to the season and should be far too good here. This is as close to a certainty as you can get. Elgin @ 1.65. Elgin -1 @ 2.70. Thinking to take this one big but Elgin away record is poor at least. Just one win in last 16 matches i think in al competitions. Is Albion really that bad ? Elgin have started very well with a very good away draw at Annan followed by a win against the much improved Edinburgh City, Edinburgh beat Albion 4-0. Albion are the worst team in the country right now. It looks a pretty good thing to me. Edited August 18, 2018 by allyhibs
StevieDay1983
I think both of those tips are worth getting on. Away wins are always a minefield but Albion are atrocious. I visited this Scottish League 2 forum the other day and it makes for grim reading for Albion fans with rumours of board room resignations and backstabbing going on behind the scenes... https://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php?/topic/244947-the-albion-rovers-thread/&page=29 An interesting read across the forum to build your Scottish League 2 knowledge. Sad times for some fans out there but if we can make a few quid at their club's expense then why not?! The ruthless world of football betting! mijOsim
I read that forum often. Well see Albion have big problems. Only Elgin away form concerns me despite Albion being very bad. Have to think a bit. Last week i was big on Peterhead. Now not sure.
StevieDay1983
Sunderland vs Scunthorpe It's a depressing state of affairs for Sunderland fans when just a few seasons ago they were courting the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal at the Stadium of Light but at 3pm on Sunday it will be a change of opposition glamour when they welcome Scunthorpe to their home ground. That's no disrespect to the Iron, of course! Both teams have had a steady start to life in League One this season. Jack Ross and his side have beaten Charlton 2-1 with a late winner and held Luton to a 1-1 draw. It was a disappointing result in midweek losing 2-0 at home to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday but with the focus back on league action the Black Cats will be keen to continue their unbeaten start. Nick Daws and his players have continued where they left off last season with solid form. They came back from 1-0 down away to Coventry to win 2-1. They then surrendered a lead at home to Walsall to draw 1-1. The 2-1 defeat in the EFL Cup 1st Round is unlikely to have damaged their morale by any great deal. The issue that is causing Scunthorpe problems is that their creativity has been hit by the departures of Duane Holmes and Hakeeb Adelakun. This has not been helped by the absence of Josh Morris. Given that problem it seems more than likely that Sunderland should come away with all three points here.
