StevieDay1983
Nice vs Reims Ligue 1 football is back for the 2018/19 season and our first preview for this league campaign is the 7pm kick-off tomorrow evening between Nice and Reims that is being played at Allianz Riviera. The home side will be led by former New York City FC manager Patrick Vieira in this opener against last season's Ligue 2 champions. Vieira has taken the reigns at Nice after former manager Lucien Favre departed for Borussia Dortmund. It was a bold choice by the Nice hierarchy but there are positive whispers going around about Vieira's qualities as a manager. This could prove to be an inspired choice. Reims are still under the stewardship of David Guion. The team with six Ligue 1 titles to their name were desperate to get back into the big time and they did it in style. It is now a huge challenge that they face but catching Vieira off guard in his early days in the Nice hot seat could present an opportunity to start the season positively. At NYCFC, Vieira was renowned for his attacking intent. The likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Ishan Sacko will give him the options to continue that philosophy with Nice. Can they improve on the 8th placed finish last season and look to rejuvenate the form that saw them finish 3rd a year before that? This game will be a tough one because Reims will be full of confidence and relishing this return to the top flight. I do think Nice have some weaknesses that need addressing. They conceded 52 goals in 38 games last season and that needs to be worked on if they are to move up the table. I can see a win for the home team here but Reims will certainly give Nice a few things to think about in the final third. This is a Reims side that scored just under 2 goals per game and finished clear of 2nd place by 15 points. Xcout
Angers vs Nimes 2018, August 11, 20:00 hrs (CET Time) Ligue 1 In this match Angers SCO faces Nimes, recently promoted from Ligue 2. The Angers SCO preseason could be considered worrisome because they did not win a match, their rivals of the last three games were foreign teams, the Spanish Villareal, and the English West Ham United and Schalke 04, so considering that the level is higher it was an interesting challenges for the team. Angers could only score against the Villarreal. Given this cause, it would be a regular pre-season, which when returning home would give an advantage because they were challenged to play better. Angers will be with out Puyo and Ketkeophomphone due to injuries. Additionally, it should be considered that the team was one of those who tied the most last season, that in the end those points were important to avoid relegation, so the team knows how to stay focused during the match. For its part, Nimes prepared its return to Ligue 1 with matches against national teams, facing one of its direct rivals to avoid relegation, like Toulouse, which remained in Ligue 1 after winning the relegation playoff, achieving a draw without goals. The last friendly lost to Guingamp. Like Angers closed the preseason fighting to score. An interesting game to open the season, which seems will be tight, and because it is the start of the season and the newly promoted could at some point give a surprise, we go with a medium-low stake in favor of the home team. Because although Angers did not win in the preseason, his rivals were of better level, additionally that at home it will be easier for them to score.
