2018 German Grand Prix

German GP

This weekend we go to Hockenheim for the German GP, this circuit has been used on and off for donkeys years but the German Grand Prix as an event was dropped from the schedule last season all together. For years the race was alternated between Hockenheim and Nurburgring hence the stats on this GP are very weak.

What we can say is that the front row has won every German GP since 2006 so qualifying will be crucial. Sebastian Vettel will be keen to show the home fans how much the Ferrari has improved this season, surprisingly he has only won this GP once, although to be fair he's only been in the best car a couple of times.

Lewis Hamilton is a best priced 13/8 while Vettel can be backed at 15/8, back them both for around 2/5 for your money!

Reliability is usually pretty good here so backing the overs looks a solid option, 8/13 with bet365 for over 15.5 is a steal.

I'm predicting a Hamilton win here should things go to plan. The Merc looked really quick in the previous race, and are on similar race pace with old mediums against Vettel and Kimi who are on fresher and softer tyres.

But anything can happen as shown in the last race.

Billy, any safety car stats for Hockenheim?

So Hamilton's run of crap luck continues and this is going to be an important part of the season for Mercedes. We have Hungary next week then the mid-season break where they can regroup. I feel tomorrow and next week will define the F1 season.

Vettel is 8/15 to win his own GP and he looks pretty solid you would have to say, he's no value at that price however. Hamilton is a 5/4 chance to make the podium but can we rely on the car? He starts 14th on the grid and should make some decent headway early on. Daniel Ricciardo starts from the back after taking grid penalties, he too should make short work of those just in front of him. His best bet is a top 6 finish which is 8/11 with Hills.

Rain could make things tricky on Sunday and that will increase the chance of a Safety Car, its 1/2 at the moment and that looks about right.

Bets

Ricciardo top 6 finish : 8/11 Hills
Hamilton Podium 5/4 Hills
Over 15.5 Finishers 8/13 bet365

Outside bet

Ocon to finish in points 4/1 Hills

Only we have had 2 out of the last 6 races at Hockenheim, stats pretty useless prior to that.

Thanks. Based on the practice runs and qualifying yesterday, it seems quite likely that there will be safety car in this race. A few drivers spin and went into the gravel as well as the possibility of rain
