It's the last few weeks of the French league season. PSG have finished well clear of the chasing pack but the two other Champions League spots are still up for grabs with Lyon, Monaco, and Marseille all only separated by 2 points. The team to miss out will drop into the Europa League.

The relegation battle is still to be decided. Lille have given themselves a fighting chance with that crucial win last weekend. That result also leaves Metz on the brink and they could get their relegation confirmed this weekend. It's going to be a stressful couple of weeks for Troyes, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Caen, Angers, and Amiens who are all still mathematically at risk of relegation.

Let us know your thoughts on this weekend's action! :ok

St Etienne vs Bordeaux

There are a few matches in Ligue 1 this week that I was keen to stay well clear of with European and relegation issues still to be settled but St Etienne's home game against Bordeaux at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in a 7pm kick-off on Sunday night is one I feel actually has value.

St Etienne have made a late push for the Europa League spots thanks to 5 wins from their last 6 league games. It is an undefeated run that also stretches back as far as 21st January. Jean-Louis Gasset has been a revelation since he came in back in December 2017. A win here will take the club a huge step closer to European competition next season.

Bordeaux have struggled to find consistent form this season. Results have improved under Gus Poyet but they are still a little hit and miss. The club sits in 9th place but Europe remains a realistic target with 5th place just 6 points away. That gap could potentially narrow with a win here.

These are two teams that will certainly be a force to be reckoned with next season if they build on their campaigns over the summer. St Etienne have only lost 3 league games at home this season. Bordeaux have lost 9 times on the road in the league already. I feel the home side should have enough to win this. This could be a thrilling game with both teams set to put it all on the line in a bid to reach the Europa League against all the odds.

@StevieDay1983 , that was a quality preview there.

However, I think that the match between St. Etienne and Bordeaux is likely to end in a draw, despite their need to grab a win.

h2h stats at St. Etienne's home ground are backing the draw. In 10 out of the last 16 games neither team emerged victorious and there have been three draws in a row in their latest encounters.

I am backing the Draw @ 3.40
