StevieDay1983 Posted April 4, 2018 Author Share Posted April 4, 2018 Guingamp vs Troyes The Ligue 1 season is drawing to a close and a number of teams at the bottom appear to be desperate to pip their rivals to the relegation spots. It seems that none of the bottom five teams in the division want to win. It's unbelievable. The managers and fans must be tearing their hair out. Guingamp host one of those teams struggling for form at the foot of the table in the shape of Troyes. Antoine Kombouare's side are positioned in a respectable 10th place with just 7 league games to play. European qualification and relegation are realistically both out of the question so they can start building for next season already. Although they will want at least one more win to make survival a formality. Troyes are technically exceeding expectations. Having earned promotion from Ligue 2 via the play-offs last season, they were the favourites to finish bottom of Ligue 1 this season. They are currently in 18th place and just 1 point from safety but their form is awful. Relegation is becoming more and more likely with every game that goes by without a win. The home team for this game were also on a poor run of results before their 2-1 win over Bordeaux last weekend. It continued their positive home record of 6 wins and 6 draws from their 16 home matches this season. Troyes will be concerned by that due to their woeful away record of just 2 wins and 2 draws from their 15 away games in the league. Last week's win was just what Guingamp needed to all but end any fears of a freefall into relegation. It is certain to breathe renewed confidence into the side and I can see them taking the game to a fragile Troyes here. Their inflated price to win makes them even more attractive so I'm backing them here.
