allyhibs
Looking over all the different leagues fixtures this weekend it's quite difficult finding anything that jumps out at you. Then I come to La Liga and there it is, big arrows pointing right at it. Atletico Madrid at 2.00. StevieDay1983
StevieDay1983
Deportivo vs Las Palmas Well, @allyhibs has correctly picked out the most obvious value in this weekend's La Liga fixtures so here is a preview on a game that is also worth checking out. It's a sad fixture for me because I have a soft spot for both of these sides. I loved watching the Deportivo side of the late 90s and early 90s. I also had a cracking holiday in Gran Canaria with the lads and we bumped into a few Las Palmas players when out there. This is a game that really shouldn't be 19th vs 18th in La Liga but it is. Deportivo are lingering just second from bottom on 19 points from 28 games. Las Palmas are only one place and 1 point better off. The team in 17th place are Levante on 24 points. This could well be a do-or-die game for these two sides. Neither club are in very interesting form right now. Deportivo haven't tasted a victory since Clarence Seedorf was appointed manager. Las Palmas have experienced a few wins under former Rayo Vallecano gaffer Paco Jemez but neither team has tasted victory in the league for some time. However, if we delve a little deeper then we might be tempted to back Seedorf to break his duck with Deportivo. The club might have only earned 2 points from 6 games but they were denied a deserved win against Espanyol because of a missed penalty. They have also only conceded 1.33 goals per game which shows Seedorf is tightening up that back-line. Las Palmas are also terrible on the road this season. They have only won 1 match away from home all season and have picked up just a total of 6 points from their 14 matches away. Throw into the mix that despite their poor league position, Deportivo have still taken points from 50% of their home matches suggests that the home team should really take the win here and push Las Palmas even closer to relegation to Liga 2.
