StevieDay1983 Posted March 8, 2018 Author Share Posted March 8, 2018 Sevilla vs Valencia Two of the great La Liga sides from recent years go toe-to-toe at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this weekend. 4th placed Valencia could all but seal their spot in the Champions League next season with a win at 5th placed Sevilla. Victory for Marcelino's side would give them an 11 point advantage over Vincenzo Montella's side with just 10 league games remaining. To put it simply, this is a must win for Los Rojiblancos. If this game was being played a month or so ago then you would have had to write off Valencia right away. Los Che went through a torrid run of results at the start of the year losing three on the trot in the league. However, 4 wins and a draw in La Liga have seen that form steadied. Sevilla are in a period of transition with Montella taking over from former manager Eduardo Berrizo back in December. Results have been inconsistent but 4 wins and 1 loss from their last 5 league matches suggests things are turning around. Can the momentum continue to build here? I've said before, I'm just not convinced by Montella as a manager. Sevilla do look to be improving under him but I'm not sure he can take them to the next level they need. Valencia are enjoying a very impressive season and it's a well overdue return to old ways. They are worth backing to take something from this game. I wouldn't be surprised if both teams go for the win here.
