The season has not been as expected. With high expectations riding on the great performance at CONCACAF Champions League where they reached the final, but where unable to win the title. With only 2 cleansheets in 16 matches, it should be their primary focus to improve, they relay too much on the offensive where the likes of Jonathan Osorio, Victor Vazquez and Sebastian Giovinco have to perform to make up for the weak defense.

With three matches without winning, the pressure is mounting and are nearer the bottom of the conference than the top, but there is a ray of light in their recent performance. In last two matches they encounter the MLS Powerhouses from New York, and despite the defeats they only lost by one goal each match. Which translates to an improved defense, but with the lack of support from offense the team was unable to continue with the positive streak of three matches without defeat.

The main objective is to get a good result, the team has only one victory in seven matches when playing away from BMO Field. Also their home record is unimpressive.

Prediction

This is the first match between them at TCF Bank Stadium. The only other encounter in this series was at BMO Field and the home side took the victory. Both teams arrived to this encounter looking to get points, and both posses the necessary weapons for this, therefore expect an attractive match.

A match of equals, a match of important teams, both on the top part of the Supporter's Shield Standing, the best attack (Atlanta United) against one of the best defenses (FC Dallas). Both teams have return to victory after some struggles and will like to continue ongoing streaks, FC Dallas unbeaten at home and Atlanta United their away streak. For this match Los Angeles Galaxy is the favorite and should dominate the actions and generate the most scoring chances, and meanwhile DC United looks like the perfect victim, the reality is they have an attacking pair that is being undervalue and that might be the biggest mistake Los Angeles Galaxy could do. I see both teams with the offensive capabilites to score, therefore for me the value lays on the Over 3 goals.

With an streak of five matches without losing, Chicago Fire visit Vancouver Whitecaps and that was their undoing, the team went behind in the scoreline at '28 minute, and despite being able to get level with a goal from Nikolic, Vancouver Whitecaps took advantage of being home and  scored twice. Trying to have a look at MLS after a month of World Cup action.

Toronto FC is in a bad shape but I noticed the odds for them to win at Chicago Fire dropped in the last couple of hours. The most probable reason - key players returning from long-term injuries: Mavinga, Van der Wiel and Altidore are all in the starting lineup today. They are probably not 100% fit yet, but it's a major boost for the team. TFC played in Ottawa in mid-week and won 1:0 but they most used their B team (Osorio did play and scored the goal). Former Toronto player Edwards just joined Chicago Fire from Montreal Impact, we'll see if he can score against his "home town" team. I put a small bet on TFC to win but will definitely keep an eye on them to improve a lot in the coming weeks!

Also placed a bet on New England Revolution to score at New York RB - they seem to create a lot of of chances and NY RB are reportedly trying to switch their system of play and are leaving more counter-attack options for their opponents. NE Revolution are tired from the mid-week trip to Minnesota but three key players were suspended for that game, so they are well rested.

Won the last match against New England Revolution, thanks to Carlos Darwin Quintero that increased the lead open by Christian Ramirez. In the second half the team was able to hold New England to one penalty goal scored by Fagundez. With  this the team got their third consecutive win at home. Previously they have beaten Real Salt Lake and Toronto. The tram offensive have greatly improved. But the defense is the main area where they should focus as they have allowed goal in the last six matches, if it is they aspire to get into playoffs and be a contender.

This will be their third consecutive match at home, before having to play away against Vancouver Whitecaps. The team is eager to make the most of their home matches and build on the excellent performance Darwin Quintero is showing. In their last three matches at home, Quintero has been able to score in all of them, while also providing assists.

Los Angeles FC
With 9 matches unbeaten considering Open Cup and MLS, Los Angeles FC have been able to get to the top of the  Western Conference with one less match that the other teams in the top four teams. With a better performance at home, where they remain unbeaten, at away the team has two matches without losing, a draw at BBVA Compass Stadium against Houston Dynamo and an away victory against San Jose Earthquakes.  A strong offensive team that just needs a little more focus on defense, as when their attack can not perform, they are in serious troubles.

From 10 matches at away, the team has been able to score in 9 of them, only against Atlante United back in April the team was unable to score. With an  attack form by Carlos Vela, Diomande and Diego Rossi, the goal are able to come from any of them.

Prediction

 

An intense match in the TFC Bank Stadium at Minneapolis, Los Angeles FC go as favorites for the win, and while they momentum provides this, against Minnesota with Quintero it should be more level. I belive this match will be an exchange of goals more than an strategic match.

Both teams carry a lot of offensive power and everything will relay on the defenses, how long they hold will be the key to the match. Is true that Los Angeles FC has more offensive alternative which gives them slightly the edge. I see the value on the over 3 goals market, as it would be rare if they are unable to score.

Excellent analysis on Toronto FC @cluelessG! And the NE Revolution to score was very good considering how they have been producing, but the fact is that at home New York Red Bulls are one of the best defenses with only 6 goals allowed in 10 matches.
