StevieDay1983
It's a slightly extended week of La Liga action coming up. The solitary match a week Wednesday means we can look over more games than usual. I'll get a preview up later this week. In the mean time, feel free to check over the odds and ratings to give us your thoughts on these games.
StevieDay1983
Alaves vs Deportivo This week, I am opting to look at a relegation dog fight. Yes, it may only be the middle of February but with Alaves sitting in 16th place and Deportivo in 19th position, this is firmly a proverbial six-pointer. The home side have won back-to-back matches in La Liga and the away side have lost back-to-back league games. It is hard to believe that Deportivo were ahead of Alaves not that long ago. A terrible run of form has seen Cristobal Parralo replaced by Clarence Seedorf as head coach. My general opinion of Seedorf has been similar to Gary Neville. Talks a lot of sense as a pundit but has struggled to convert that to club management. Seedorf has failed to impress in his previous two managerial positions at Serie A giants AC Milan and Chinese League One side Shenzhen FC and I don't expect that to change here. Alaves are a complete contrast at home. Abelardo Fernandez's side have won 6 of their last 7 home games and it's hard to see Seedorf's men adding a loss to that record in this game. The fact Deportivo have only taken 6 points from 11 games on the road all season suggests there's only one sensible option to back here. I think Seedorf will look to tighten things up and kill the play. Deportivo will take a draw here but I don't think their defence will hold out.
