I used to follow Libertadores more when mexican clubs where playing it, and I hope they return in the future. I will try to follow it this season. Lets see how that goes.

Deportivo Tachira
Reach this instance, thanks to the away goal, in the series played against CSD Maraca of Ecuador, the team draw 1-1 the first leg  and then at home draw without goals, to reach nine games without losing in their stadium. Is to see if they can do it against more powerful teams like Independiente, in the past it has had good results before teams like Pumas de México, Emelec, etc.

The team has had changes in the technical direction with the arrival, last October, of Fransico Stifano, he has had experience in different teams in Venezuela.

The team will seek to maintain a good result at home, fundamental the performance of goalkeeper Beycker Velasquez and they are expected to take focus on defense, as a draw to zero would be excellent to face the return leg taking advantage of the away goal, if they score on the secong leg.

Independiente Santa Fe
The Colombian team comes from a painful defeat in the Clausura final against Millionairos and although it could be seen that it compensated a bit with the victory in the Fox Sports tournament last January, where they drew 0-0 with Millonarios, won the final 1-3 to América de Cali, proving to be the best team in Colombia from the football point of view in the words of Carlos Antonio Vélez.

The friendly tournament can be considered a good preparation, since it see them encounter  important teams and they obtained good results. The team is aware that it must be concentrated and that it has a complicated game and that they have to focus on defense so as not to be surprised, according to William Tesillo, the team's defense.

Prediction
An intense match is expected, focus more on destruction than on creation. Deportivo Tachuria is expected to suffer, since Macara had more goal chances in his tie than Táchira, so the contro of the match and the best opportunities wil be on Independiente's side. Independiente Santa Fe is clearly a favorite, understandably having a higher level than Táchira, but it is always complicated playing away in Libertadores, so I consider that this Asian handicap is where the value of this match resides, since a draw would not be a bad result for either teams, but both will seek to take advantage to face the return leg more calmly, and in these conditions, I see stronger and better Independiente Santa Fe.

Millonarios
Won Torneo Finalización 2017 to achieve qualification to this edition of Libertadores Cup. Last edition the team was eliminated in the qualification round losing in penalties against Atletico PR. This time the team will played on the group stage.

From last eight matches in Libertadores Cup, the team just won once, against San Jose 2-1 back in 2013. A result the team will be eager to repeat, as a good performance at home is they key in Libertadores Cup to be able to proceed to next stage.

Their recent form does not provide good sensations, as they have three matches without victory, with two defeats at away and a 1-1 draw against Atletico Nacional. The goalkeeper Cadavid is the main player in Millonarios, still has allowed at least a goal in four of the last five matches the team has played and the defense needs to improve if they expect to get a good result here.

Corinthians
After missing to qualify to Libertadores Cup 2016, the team participated on Sudamericana Cup last year, and although the team did not proceed beyond the round of 16, the played three stages and not losing a single match. The team went to win Serie A last year and achieve qualification to this edition of Libertadores Cup.

In their previous participation in Libertadores Cup in 2016, the team went to the round of 16, and despite not losing, the away goal was the determining factor to get them sideline against Nacional from Uruguay. In that edition the team only lost one match, against Cerro Porteño at away.

In Paulista tournament the team bounce back form a streak of three matches without victory, beating 2-0 Palmeiras, which provides confidence for this away match.

For this match the coach has mention the city altitude, 2 640 meters above sea level as key factor and is yet to see how he will accomodate his players as he is waiting to see how Millonarios is going to play. Important absences as defender Marquinhos is injured, as three suspended players, Kazim, Rodriguinho and Walter, for being expelled against Racing in Sudamericana 2017. Youth player Mateus Vital is showing capabilities to cover the absence of Rodriguinho.

Prediction
Millonarios have a full squad ready and Corinthians encounters important absences, Corinthians coach express some doubts, but I sense that as taking provision just in case, it is true that the altitude is going to affect them, but I expect that fatigue if ever to impact them in the late part of the match, if they have a good result on that moment, then expect Corinthians to lay back to defending it. Avoiding a  surprise in the first minutes of the match, I sense Corinthians will put a good stance in this match, they are superior to Millonarios and considering that a draw can be consider a good result in Libertadores Cup, together with the good level of Brazilian teams, which I expect have the sufficient players to cover the absences.

The team has three wins in the last five games, all at home, with two games without a goal, all their victories come from the local league, which has allowed him to climb to 5th place. Despite the defeat between Estudiantes in the Libertadores and against Deportivo Municipal in the local league, both at away, the team has in this game an important opportunity to continue reflecting its good action at home, since that is the key to be able move forward, while getting the points at home, the next round is almost secure.

In all its participations since 2013, the team has only tied once, it was in its first game against Santa Fe, after that it has only won or lost, so the team invests in games to get the necessary result, so we will see a team that will fight for you and seek to weigh being at home, at the moment the first match against Santos was very good and hopes to repeat the same against Nacional.

 

Nacional
I achieve its classification to this edition, eliminating to the Chapecoense, series in which they won both encounters, then against Benfield, draw at away and victory at home by the minimum. However in this group stage the team is without victory, having tied at home against Estudiantes and having fallen in his visit to Santos, now has another away game, where in the knockout stage it had good results, but it remains to be seen in this stage of groups manages to revert the way, fortunately for them after this game will have two at home, which could give options to reach the last group match with chances to qualify, but everything happens is to get at least one point in this encounter.

They have improved their performance as away, obtaining important ties last year that allowed them to advance from the group stage.

Currently they have a run of four games without defeat, however it is only in local matches, in addition to postponing the game against Tanque Sisley, the intention is to concentrate in this match.

 

Prediction
Real Garcilaso so far has made an acceptable Libertadores, in the aspect that is asserting its localia to beat the Saints, and although lost visit against Estudiantes, while you can get the results at home advance to the next round,home side is favorite to the game , since although National has good form, it has not been able to replicate it in the continental tournament, and it remains to be seen, a strong opposition is expected on the part of Nacional, but Garcilaso should prevail in this game

In their previous fight in 2013, when they met in the round of 16, each team won their home match, and Garcilaso  advanced to the next round by penalties. For this match I agree with the houses that the favorite is the local, however, it will be necessary to go with a bit of tact because Nacional has improved as a visitor, and is focused only on this match, but the home side should be able to prevail.

Santos vs Estudiantes La Plata

In the first position of the group with two wins a defeat, against Real Garcilaso at away. Then the team went home and beat Nacional, and afterwards went away and beat Estudiantes in Argentina. Now returning home for the reverse fixture against Estudiantes, the team is in prime position to get a good advantage in the group and get near qualification for next stage.

The team is strong at home in Libertadores Cup, in 2017 on the group stage the team won the three matches they played, it was on quarter-finals where they concede a home defeat against Barcelona from Ecuador that saw them eliminated from the competition.

The team have not participated in Libertadores since 2013, in 2011 and 2012, the team played 13 Libertadores Cup matches at home, winning  10 of those, with 2 draws and only 1 defeat, which was against Corinthians, also from Brazil.

After being eliminated via penalties in Paulista Tournament, the team has played two rounds of Seria A, wining at home to Ceara and losing to Bahia, where the team rest key players, to be on the 9th position of this nascent edition.

Estudiantes La Plata
With difference of last edition of Libertadores Cup where they did not draw any match, in this edition the team has already draw one match, at away against Nacional in a scoreless match. The team has gotten themselves in a tight situation as from two home matches, the team just won against Garcilaso and carry with a hard home defeat against Santos, with controversy about the scored goal and a better performance of Estudiantes, despite losing the match.

Last season the team won three matches and lost the same, and with 9 points the team was unable to proceed as with 10 points Botafogo and Barcelona went to next stage. Estudiantes encounter a Brazilian team in that edition, losing 2-1 against Botafogo in the first match of the group stage, still they won the reverse fixture by 1-0, and despite closing with two consecutive victories the team was unable to proceed.

At away in Libertadores Cup, in last 9 matches, the team has lost five, draw two and won twice, both against Barcelona from Ecuador. Still the team has an streak going from last edition of Libertadores Cup and now has two matches at away unbeaten, still that might come to and end in this match.

In Superliga tournament, the team is on the 14th position, having won only once in the last five matches, losing the last one at home to Belgrano, match where the team rest key players focusing on this match, as it is key for the team to take at least a point.

Prediction

 

Both teams have prioritize this match, as both rotate players and lost their weekend encounters, which is expected to be tight and close, Estudiantes need of avoiding defeat will be the key for the match, Santos should dominate the actions and be more comfortable as the time proceeds forward.
It will be a hard match but Santos should get a good result here, it might be to close for my liking, but their good previous performance home and the current form, together that Estudiantes rarely produce at away in Libertadores. Also home matches are the key to proceed to next stage. Therefore with a medium stake with Santos for the win.

Santa Fe vs Flamengo

Unbeaten in six games, with victory in the last match against Leones after five consecutive draws, considering the draw in the visit to Flamengo, although in the local league is half table, the team has not lost in this edition of  Libertadores, but if he does not manage to add three, he could soon run out of options to qualify for the next round. And although draws in the visits to River and Flamengo are important, the fact that they have not been able to defeat Emelec is something worrisome.

He has opened Seria A with a draw against Vitoria and a victory against America Minero, victory in friendly against Atletico Go and the draw against Santa Fe at home, draw that puts urgency to this game, given that in two games home, has two draws and without the victory against Emelec gave him some margin getting this in the first position, is tied in points with River Plate and Santa Fe only two points away.

As away, it is not his strongest facets, and in Libertadores playing away from home, the team has only two wins in the last 8 games played, it should be noted that in all of them it was by 1 goal difference.

With an interim coach, Mauricio Barbieri has given good results, although if in the local league against a newly promoted team and some poor draws, his performance has attracted criticism.

Prediction
Although in a preliminary view the game looked even, and even the visitor with options, but considering all the elements, the local team with the height in their favor and a recent performance better than the rival and especially great results in their visits against River and Flamengo, I consider that the team starts in the best position to obtain a good result, but we have in mind it will not be easy, so the Asian advantage for home side is where I find the best value.

Santos vs Independiente

Both teams are still waiting the decision from Conmebol due to Sanchez entering the field. The last match they had between each other ended up 0-0 in first leg.
