Sticking with the jumpers. Taking a view against the current front two in the market in my first race.

Kelso 2.50 - Nendrum 7/2 and Chookie Royale 9/2

Kelso 4.25 - Simply Ned 3/1 and Vosne Romanee 3/1

Good to see the veteran Chookie Royale having a second lease of life over sticks ……. I had a few good wins on him when I was following the AW five or six years ago

forgot the bet !

4 x £5 cross doubles

3.10 Pontefract - Dream Today @ 9/2 Skybet

Last ten years -

Stalls 1, 2 and 3 produced nine of the winners. If holding true today, leaves M C Muldoon, Dragons Tail amd Dream Today. Dream Today has the best recent form of these, and so is my selection today.

3.20 Stratford - Shoal Bay @ 13/2 William Hill

8.15 Kempton - El Borracho @ 15/2 Skybet

3 x £2.50 E/W's

1 x £2.50 E/W treble

Edit - wrong thread but will leave anyway (plus added two extra bets)

420 Southwell
The only decent handicap of the day (numbers wise) over jumps and a tricky looking contest. First off my top rated runner is The Captain, he was 8/1 last night and now has shortened to 6's. He's had 3 runs in maiden hurdles over 2 miles, ran quite well last time and now goes up half a mile. Former pointer so will like these brush type hurdles and could find some improvement.
Asking Questions is the favourite but has yet to win over hurdles in 7 attempts, he's been chasing and has to carry 12st. I'm nor sure represents much value. Nicely Indeed is a 12 race maiden and looks to have temperament issues, another one that should be a bit bigger.
Oscar World makes his handicap debut and looks a typical improver, Aidan Coleman rides and this is his second run after a wind op. Black Anthem is interesting now that Sam Twiston-Davies has been booked, he pulls hard and despite that still ran a decent race last time, prior to that he had been running on unsuitable soft/heavy ground.

£8 The Captain 6/1
£6 Black Anthem 6/1

£1 Com F/C 1,8,11

3.50 Bang - Global Jackpot - £20 to win at Evens

Gordon Elliott seems to have lots of runners at Bangor, Some of them don't appear to have a big chance and you wonder why he bothers bringing them over unless it's just the fact there isn't a lot of racing in Ireland and he has a big string so needs to get races into them

This one looks like it's got a favourites chance

All bets dutched  & All BOG

At least my Nap of the day came in for a profit :)

I Knew the other 2 had no chance as soon as Simon Mapletoft on ATR said he fancied them ,to say hes an all weather expert he must be the worse pundit on tv ever. he'd put the kiss of death on Frankel,

400 Newton Abbot

Just one race to look at today and with the weather changing it makes this is a tricky race. Most of the runners would have been declared due to good ground which it was but now its soft(heavy in places) and not may will relish this test.

My top rated horse Western Sunrise is by no means certain to reproduce his best on this ground while the saem can be said for a handful of others. I have narrowed it down to Daytime Ahead, Miss Mash and maybe Midnight Glory as the yard are in such good form. Christian Williams saddles an unknown in Just For Tara who will be added for f/c purposes.

£5.33 Miss Mash 11/2
£2.89 Daytime Ahead 11/1
£5.78 Midnight Glory 5/1

Chep 3.35 - Poetic Rhythm - £20 win at 10/3

Back in the 80s this was always the first Jumps meeting to be televised each season and was a sign that the jumpers were getting going

A few decent races on the card and my horse runs in the Listed novice chase. He has the form in the book having win Grade 2, and Grade 1 novice hurdles last season and he's won twice at Chepstow (a tricky track ?). He seems to be at his best in the fist few months of the season then tails off after Christmas so this could be a good time to catch him

Paul Nicholls runner, Master Tommytucker, is favourite but his runners haven't been winning first time out so far …. they nearly all finish 2nd

Can't seem to pick a winner over the Jumps so I think I'll leave that for another week or two and stick with the two year old races on the flat for a bit longer …… should still have plenty of 2yo races on the AW even when the Turf racing finishes

Going for one at Goodwood tomorrow in the novice auction race. Getting plenty of weight under the race conditions and ran OK last time for a yard who's horses tend to come on for racing. This is her 3rd outing.

Good 2.35 - Foxy Femme - £10 EW at 22/1 bog wm hill

510 Chepstow

Cracking handicap here with 11 runners at the moment. The rain is coming down so by off time this could be soft ground. I respect Baron Alco but on this occasion I think he will need the run and it should be between the top four in the weights.

Top rated is Charbel, he stepped up this sort of trip last time at Perth and seemed to get it ok, if anything he looked short of match fitness so should be spot on here. Both the Nicholls and Hobbs horses seem to be running well, some first time out so a bit of a guessing game as to which are race ready. Art Mauresque probably wants further and definitely no more rain while Garde La Victoire is the opposite.
I like Barney Dwan, he was a good 4th at the Festival over 2m5f, he will be aimed at longer trips later but could go well here off this mark.

50p F/C Comb 1,2,3,4
£3.98 Charbel 15/2
£5.20 Barney Dwan 11/2
£4.83 Garde La Victoire 6/1

Had a look at the 7f handicaps at Musselburgh. I like 7f races because it's a bit of a specialist trip. With it being a dog leg track the lower draws have advantage …… so I've looked for lower drawn horses that have won over 7f and discounted the older more exposed types ……… and have plumped for -

Muss 2.20 - Smugglers Creek 8/1

Muss 2.50 - Supauletter 8/1

£10 EW double

420 Wetherby:
Just one race at Wetherby worth looking at, just 8 runners due to the ground.
Top rated horse is the Skelton 7yo Notnow Seamus, a remarkable improvement over the summer has seen his mark go up from 105 to 140, a 12lb rise from his last run and you just have to think he's reached his limit just in time before the better horses come out.
Monbeg Theatre is the obvious one who himself has gone up a stone since the turn of the year, ho looks more scopey to me and just gets the vote today. Brian Hughes as plumped for Jacks Last Hope over Dubai Angel while Nautical Nitwit and Becky The Thatcher look in need of some help from the handicapper.
Lough Derg Farmer has his first run for Sue Smith since leaving N.Henderson and you have to think he will need it so that leaves the bottom one Lough Salt for the combo f/c.

£8 Monbeg Theatre 7/2 Betvic
£2 Com F/C 2,4,8
