Nothing from me for tomorrow. The only selection of the week won this afternoon with odds advised above at 5/2 - SP was 5/4 and I doubt there will have been more than a token number of bets at the price of 5/2. However applying the rules of this challenge that is another £50 profit on the week so after 3 weeks it is a profit of £162 on stakes of £215.

What rules? I didnt make any up?

Oh and actually there was plenty of 2/1 available early this morning about your animal.

Yes- and there was plenty of 9/4 last night . But we all know that anyone with a good track record is restricted to a serious degree when it comes to taking these prices, and I didn't want to make out that in the real world it is possible to make serious profits at the rate of £162 per stakes of £215 ; as you make the stakes £20 per day I suppose you are making that point yourself.

Billy, see your non runner in the last leg turned into the favourite and gave you the win. Same as me earlier in the week.

Likewise you win but financially you lose. Its a strange old game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the late post, had meant to post this as a topic earlier, however got sidetracked and was typing another topic when suddenly realised.

The intrigue is this, the horse was owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum until the 1st of November last year, his last run in this ownership was over 5f on the 21st of October at Catterick ridden by tonights jockey.

He was gelded on the 7th of November last year and apparently had no known owner from the 1st of November to the 3rd of January,a couple of weeks ago..So who owned him when he had the chop and who's decision was this? His present owners are registered from 3rd of January, his first run was over 8f at Southwell on the 9th of January where he weakened quickly.

His next run was 6 days later at Wolverhampton over 8.5 f,strange given how quickly he weakened at Southwell even given the different surface.I was advised by Molerat to have a dabble on him for the Wolves race,he said he knew the trip would not be an issue.

i backed the horse based on his opinion at 14/1,20s + was available before I backed him.Opened at 20s on course and returned sp of 10/1.Was beaten by a head by one of Hugo Palmers,5/4 fav who drifted from slight odds on.I collected on the ew even though only 2 places as Molerat suggested only the fav was a danger.

He will not explain why he was so confident but the money spoke volumes that the 8.5 f was not expected to be an issue despite prior to gelding had been purely a sprinter. The drop to 7f tonight seemed to make sense and was born out as he actually seemed to outstay his rivals.

He never left the MJ stable during the period mentioned i.e "Owner unknown" and gelding and finding new owners on the 3rd of January a few weeks ago.Is it purely coincidence or perhaps an inspired guess that his new owners upped him to a mile on a stamina sapping surface and then upped him again at Wolves where he was punted heavily and beaten a head?

Or had he been worked at home following his Noble Locks op and shown up well over further than 5f or 6f? This is an absolute certainty otherwise Molerat would not have known to tell me to back him.At the risk of upsetting Molerat I would like to know who owned him following Hamdan getting rid and was gelding a condition of the sale?

What chance the average punter with only form in the book to go by? Not suggesting any misdemeanours but valid concerns just the same.

What do you think?

Not in the same league in terms of Molerats enthusiasm for a punt but noteworthy nonetheless. He is what used to be termed as a "Store horse" i.e bought relatively young and judged over a period of time as to whether worth keeping or should he be culled or passed on.He is now 5 years old and housed with Venetia Williams who is not known for precocious horses,he is owned by Trevor Hemmings.

Like Venetia he has a lot of patience and a long term view for potential and would not have kept this horse for fun.As molerats earlier email made clear this horse is a future chaser, probably next year. However he said that the horse will come on a bundle from his run in a Bumper just before Christmas.

This was his first run of any description on a licenced racecourse and he is not going to improve through experience or fitness because of it,he is fitter now because of his work has been upped a notch.

He has always shown ability, hence why he was so short in the beting for his debut. However he was only gelded last year,in August so nobody really knew if it had affected him either positively or otherwise..

Molerat reports that he has plenty of ability and his gelding op has had a positive effect on his temperament and has improved his fluency jumping schooling hurdles,at least that is his opinion. As stated his future is over fences and tomorrow is part of that progression,1st time over hurdles in public on a racecourse.

He does state that he is one of the best "Novices" he has seen for quite some time and really likes his prospects in the future. His handlers feel the same and whilst not going overboard about his chances of winning on his hurdles debut they think that 14/1 is far too big and those laying do not know the horse as well as they do.

As molerat states "As wth all Venetia's horses he will be doing his best,Charlie knows him well and wont knock him about, but expect him to up among the front end and if he can win he WILL" At the least he will ride him out for a place.

Given that, for me I have gone £10 ew on Cloudy Glen at 14s BOG

Good Luck if you have a dabble.

Hi guys have been following this since Billy started so thought would run a table for people to see how they would be doing, might not be 100% accurate with all the different bets and have placed each bet seperate so if doing a pacepot of 16 lines that becomes 16 bets and wins are amount of individual bets won, ie 16 lines 2 winning lines is 2 win bets so on.

Hope im as close as can be.
