  • BillyHills changed the title to Tipsters Challenge - Rules and Information (Updated)

Rules and Format for posting of bets

In this seasons TC Competition we are introducing two new bets along with the usual 1,X,2.
'Under/Over 2.5' goals and 'Both Teams To Score' will be accepted.

Here are the rules regarding posting the various bets.

  • If there is any information missing from the instructions the price taken will govern which part of the bet you have asked for. For example if you have put 'Man Utd Over/Under 1.80' then if the price for Over 2.5 goals was 1.80 then it will be settled accordingly.
  • If the prices are the same for either side of the bet then the 'positive' outcome will be taken. For example if you write 'Arsenal Over/Under' then the bet will be settled on the 'overs'. Likewise the BTTS bet will be settled for both teams scoring if there is no hint of what you have requested.

Preferred Format Examples

Man Utd (1) 1.67
Liverpool (1) 1.80

£20 Double

_________________________

Man Utd Over 2.5 2.50
Arsenal Under 2.5 2.38
Chelsea (1) 1.40

£20 Treble

___________________________

Spurs BTTS 2.50
Chelsea BTTS NO 2.63
Man Utd Over 2.5 2.50

£10 Treble

Any queries just ask me.

The new football season will obviously be starting later than normal and although there is an International set of fixtures on Sept 5th, it makes more sense for us to start when the Premier season begins a week later on the 12th.

With that in mind and to keep the 4 mini-seasons this year's competition will be for 36 weeks, split into four 9-week seasons.

Proposed dates (subject to change)

TC 1: Sept 12th - Nov 7th

TC 2: Nov 14th - Jan 9th

TC 3: Jan 16th - Mar 13th

TC 4: Mar 20th - May 15th

Full details to follow if anything changes.

Welcome back to the Football Tipsters Challenge Competition for the 2021/22 season.

We will be starting up again with this weekend's matches (so first fixtures start Fri 13th August). We will split the year into 4 seasons of 9 or 10 weeks so new players can join in through the year when a new season starts up. Everyone who completed 20/21 season will be allocated to their new Division based on their finishing position last time.  New players and those previouisly eliminated can apply to join and will be slotted into Divisions 7 or 8.  Divisions 1-6 normally have 15 players, Divisions 7-8 up to 20, but I may tinker slightly with this if we get a lot of new entrants.

One change from previous years (mainly to reduce the workload involved) is I'm removing the Both Teams to Score bet option.  Bets (single, double or treble) can be made from the outright result (Home Win, Draw, Away Win) or Under/Over 2.5 Goals odds which will be posted up in a weekly thread taken from William Hill site generally on Tuesday/Wednesday.  Bet deadline is 3pm Saturday even if your selections kick off later than that, but you need to post before your kick off if you pick an earlier match.

I'll post a separate thread for new players to request to join in.

I'll sort the division threads along this week's odds tonight (hopefully!)

  • avongirl changed the title to Tipsters Challenge - Rules and Information *NEW 21/22 SEASON*

Potential Dates for 2021/22 Seasons (subject to change).

We will aim for 4 x 10 weeks but could reduce to 9 weeks if needed.  It does look like the lower English Leagues and Scotland finish in April whilst Prem and Euro leagues run on to May, so depends on availability of suitable fixtures across all the leagues as well as how the cup comps fit in.

Season 1 : 14th Aug - 16th Oct (10 weeks)

Season 2 : 23rd Oct - 25th Dec (10 weeks)

Season 3 :  1st Jan - 5th Mar (10 weeks)

Season 4 : 12th Mar - 22nd May (11 weeks)

Welcome to the 2022/23 Punters Lounge Football Tipsters Challenge Competition.

We will be starting up again with this weekend's matches (so first fixtures start Fri 19th August).   This year we are moving to a 3 season year so that we can get the full 10 weeks in with a slight breather in between seasons for admin.   We will also need to take a break during the World Cup weeks in Nov/Dec.  Everyone who completed 21/22 season will be allocated to their new Division based on their finishing position last time.  New players and those previously eliminated can apply to join as each season starts up and will be slotted into Divisions 7 or 8.  Divisions 1-6 normally have 15 players, Divisions 7-8 up to 20.

Bets (Single, Double or Treble) can be made from the Outright Result (Home Win, Draw, Away Win) or Under/Over 2.5 Goals odds which will be posted up in a weekly thread.  The odds we use are screenshot from William Hill site generally on Wednesday/Thursday and typically include the Friday to Monday games.  Bet deadline is 3pm Saturday even if your selections kick off later than that, but you need to post before your kick off if you pick an earlier match.  All rules previously stated in BillyHills opening posts still apply.

I've slightly adjusted the prize structure to pay £700 total per season.

Div 1: £75, £50, £30
Div 2: £60, £40, £25
Div 3: £50, £35, £20
Div 4: £40, £30, £20
Div 5: £35, £25, £15
Div 6: £30, £20, £10
Div 7: £20, £15, £10
Div 8: £20, £15, £10

New players and those previously eliminated, please request to join in the separate thread, where there is also confirmation of Divisions for returning players from last year. :ok

I'm going to try out a new option for this Season 2.  It's mainly to provide an exit route for those who like to play half bank bets and who get stuck on a losing run, so that you can avoid the creeping death of penny bets in the latter weeks of the comp if you wish.  Once your bank drops below £10 you may select to go 'All In' instead of Half Bank, if you wish.  If you do go All In and your bet loses you will be out of the competition and will need to reapply when the next season starts, you will lose your guaranteed spot.

I've amended the Rules in the first post.

  • Players can stake up to 50% of their current bank in any one week until their bank drops to £10.
  • Once the bank drops to £10 or lower, the players stake must be either half bank or 'All in'. The player will be eliminated if an 'All in' bet loses.

Hopefully it will work ok but if anyone spots a major flaw in this please post a comment in the odds thread (as this one is locked). :ok

This seemed to work well and was used by quite a few so I'll make it a permanent option.  :D

We are back with the 2023/24 Punters Lounge Football Tipsters Challenge Competition.

Season One 23/24 starts with this weekend's matches including the Friday night games of 18th August.  Odds and selection threads should be up on Thursday.

Our football year will have 3 mini seasons of 10 weeks again with a week (or two) in between aiming to end close to the actual end of Season in May.  Due to the number of drop outs we tend to get (and to reduce admin a little) I'm going to increase the size of Divisions from 15 to around 20, which will mean we'll likely have 6 Divisions overall with most of the rejoiners and newbies in Div 6.  Depending on uptake this year I might need to extend Div 5 and 6 to allow everyone in.

I'm looking at the prize structure with the intention of paying 4 places in the top 2 Divisions and 3 places in the others.  Will update before kick off.

All previous rules apply, including the All In option at £10 bank.

Everyone who completed last season will be automatically allocated to a Division as usual based on finishing bank.  Everyone else, please post in the new player thread HERE - I'll remind All In Busteds to reapply; No shows need to reapply; New players welcome to join in.

Apologies, I've never confirmed the updated prize structure following the adjustments to the number and size of Divisions we have.  Keeping the overall season prize at £700 I've added a 4th place payment to Divisions 1 and 2 and added a fiver on 1st and 2nd prizes in Division 1.  This reflects the fact that it takes 2 seasons hard graft to get you to the top of the top tier, allocation being based on the previous season's results.

I'm also introducing 2 'spot' prizes for this season (as you didn't know about them!) for the player(s) with the most number of wins over the season and the player(s) with the highest odds win during the season.  These are not profit or stake related.  The idea of this is that these potentially will be different players to those in the normal prize positions at the top of the Divisions.

Div 1: £80, £55, £30, £20
Div 2: £60, £40, £25, £15
Div 3: £50, £35, £20
Div 4: £40, £30, £20
Div 5: £35, £25, £15
Div 6: £35, £25, £15

Most wins: £15 (or shared)

Highest odds win: £15 (or shared)

Punters Lounge Mug and Pens for overall top 5 (subject to your location being postable from our supplier).
