how late is late??

Recommended Posts

if you place a bet in a betting shop, how late is late???

2 mile 4 f race is off at, say 1500, betting slip says 1500 34 seconds

official off time is 1500 22 seconds

technically its late, but how would you  know??

When i worked in the bookies we always allowed bets to be placed as follows;

Over Jumps: up to the second fence as long as no fallers at the first.

Flat: Up to one furlong for races under a mile, a bit longer for others.

Its all computerised now so I reckon its pretty strict on the off time, the tills just wont take a bet after a cut off period.

:ok

  • 2 weeks later...

i was asking thru my pocket, my bet was late, cct proved it was late, but 2 other "clients" placed the same horse after me and were paid out as winner, at managers discretion, i asked why and they cant comment, i asked how many bets were placed late in last day/week/month, they cant disclose this,, but when i asked what if my bet was late, how would i know? there response was it was up to me

if i have a bet and it gets beat, the last thing i do is check the off time, maybe if i played fbt terminals i would be at discretion client

Yeah, its not right but we were told to 'look after' certain customers.

We logged the activity on any customer that made a significant impact on turnover, they didn't necessarily have to win just put plenty of bets on or as you say stuff the machines all day long.

If it was a lot of money or something that was niggling you i'd think about asking to see the District, or Area manager. 9 times out of ten you will get your money if you go above shop manager.

:ok
