Only four runners here but an interesting contest with Dan Skelton and Nicky Henderson locking horns. On this occasion i'm on the side of the Skelton runner Djarkalin who although ran below his best last time had earlier set a pretty good standard over hurdles. War Creation the main rival is owned by Trevor Hemmings so is likely to be one for the future rather than today.

5.05 Newmarket: Class 3 Handicap, 5f

It will be interesting to see how this pans out pace wise with a split not impossible, despite only 11 runners, but I feel the low numbers are more likely to dominate and should be an ideal scenario for Majestic Hero who could be towed in to take it up when it really matters.

He won two races last year, including here at Newmarket and ran with plenty of credit in many more. His form tailed off toward the end of the season after a long campaign, though.

He clearly prefers this type of undulating tracks and acts very well on faster ground, so conditions should be ideal, A mark of 88 is fair judged on what he has achieved and if he can run to this rating here he must go very close with Jamie Spencer taking the ride as he did last year when these two teamed up to land the Newmarket race.

Jamie Spencer, often slated, is however clearly a bonus in the saddle, given there aren't many that ride this course and distance better. Also Majestic Hero goes well fresh.

Newmarket 15.30 Brigliadoro @ 16/1 Skybet e/w thanks

Brigliadoro....from Philip McBride yard the 6yo has won three times from 7f to 1m on good to firm ground and on the all-weather, his last race being 166 days ago was on AW at Chelmsford AW 1m2f when he finished 4th beaten 3.75 lengths .

The yard have booked Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle with the last time he was onboard was 3 races back in his last turf race at Ascot 1m good when he finished 2nd , he dwelt at start but made steady progress and led at 1f pole only to lose inside last 200 yards and finished 0.75 lengths behind Raising Sand , The fact the yard booked Silvestre to ride him in first turf race this season seems to me they feel he's in peak condition
