Festive Fixtures > Dec 29th - 31st

Hi all,

At 4/1, I think Barnet are a big enough price vs Luton.

The young management team of Rossi Eames and Harry Newman oversaw their 3rd game in charge of Barnet when winning at Cheltenham on Monday.  That win was a 2nd success in 3 matches and another at Luton on Saturday will surely be enough for them to secure their jobs on a permanent basis. The latest victory also extended Barnet’s excellent away record which reads 5-4-2 win-draw-loss.

Rest of the preview here.

Thanks

John

Right, to try and keep this crazy weekend of action as simple as possible, I am just posting the Friday through to Sunday fixtures today. The ones on Monday and later that week will go up later this week after chat has started in here.

@Kenton Schweppes, another win for you lads! Four wins from four games now over the festive period. Can you make it five out of five against Blackburn at home? They have lost their last four on the bounce! You must be buzzing about Wagner shunning the Bundesliga to stay with you guys. Great call from him. Huddersfield are a team made for the Premier League.

@salmonman, amazing call on Reading to beat Norwich. Easy money in the end. If you're not careful you will build a reputation for nailing these Football League bets. What are you thinking here? Particularly keen to get your thoughts on League One and League Two stuff as well.

@Bobby Vegas, I see your logic behind the Crawley shout last game. It was close. What are you thinking here? Again, enjoying your analysis of the League One and League Two betting.

@sajtion, you should have stuck with your theory of not backing the favourites. Scunthorpe have been superb this season so backing them to drop points against Bradford would have seen you good. Reckon you'll stick to your guns and back any underdogs for these games?

@allyhibs, interested to hear your thoughts this week. You also fell into the Scunthorpe trap but I like your breakdown behind it. You got the Doncaster away win bang on which was a great call and the Sheff Utd home win as well.

@louis12, keen to hear your SPL thoughts this round after you not only nailed it with the Partick away win but the BTTS prediction too.

@johnabpd,you were let down by Crawley and Chesterfield. Unlucky with that. Are you backing anything this weekend?

@Simeon Borisof, @WinningAdvice, @skyblues88, @Punki85, @Tiffy, are you guys getting involved in the betting for these games this weekend?

Hi all,

Thoughts on Aston Villa vs Leeds tomorrow night. I like the away side at 3/1.

The round of matches on Boxing Day marked the end of the 1st half of the Championship season, with all sides having played 23 of their 46 games.  When predicting the outcome of matches in the 2nd half, it is important to consider the result of the game played between two sides earlier in the season. Leeds beat Aston Villa 2-0 at the start of December and may be overpriced to do the same again tomorrow night at Villa Park.

The rest of the preview is here.

That's one way to look at it.On the other hand we have the only team who hasn't been beaten at home They are getting points and climbing up the table after the tough start to the campaign. They will welcome Leeds who are on a good run of form but have lost half of their outings so far.As i see it,both teams could cancel each other out, without taking too much risks.I think odds are set rightly and if anything i would make Villa firm favourites here.Anyway, they are not trustworthy at the minute to win and whilst i don't think they will lose, my money goes to Draw with bet365

Certainly Villa's home form makes them rightful favourites. I've got 11/8-12/5-5/2 H-D-A down as fair odds. Leeds win is the least likely outcome but I think they are good value at 3's.

Good luck if you're having a bet.

For me Aston Vila is big big no bet match, we can discuss here about that match but IMO everyone should skip it, there is so many other matches that money can be taken... Like Simeon said, Villa is unbeaten at home, they also rest some players in previous round against Burton, I think Villa will win with same result like last round, 2:1, but like I said, no bet. Must see other matches and find some value...

Cardiff come to Brighton on Friday, and the last time they met about a month ago it was a 0-0 draw.

I can see more of the same, as I think Warnock will want to keep his run of not losing going, so I see a defensive display from them. It's a relegation scrap for them this season, and I had a good chat with a Cardiff mate who confirmed my thoughts.

there will be big home support again, with a poor turnout from Cardiff expected.

no fresh injuries or suspensions for Brighton, and they should posses the quality to unlock the door.

I like the look of -

Brighton double chance & both teams to score/NO @ 1.96 with BF

Also Derby should put Wigan away too.

Good luck everyone

That was a painful one! Good shout on the draw.

Tiffy, a fair point about our game. We often struggle to take anything from Brighton away. 15th October, 2005 was the last time we won in Brighton but they were a much poorer side back then and even then we struggled to a 2-1 win. Before that, you have to go all the way back to 9th March, 1999.

We are tough to beat under Warnock but until he brings in his own players I can't see our form changing. I would not back us to win. I think 0-0 or 1-1 is the best shout but maybe a 1-0 or 2-1 win for Brighton is a more realistic bet.

I really like the look of Sheffield Wednesday this week. I watched their win at Newcastle and they put in a superb display, they're bang in form and if they repeat that performance they can take care of Preston, their confidence has possibly taken a wee dent after the home hammering from Leeds. 8/5 for the away win is too tempting for me to ignore.

Bet of the day has to be Celtic to beat Rangers. Celtic are simply on another level from Rangers at the moment and I think will win this comfortably. I think the odds of 3/4 offer real value here, I was expecting 1/2 or less.

If Hibs had won by 5 or 6 goals last week, Raith would have no complaints, we missed a very annoying amount of good chances but played very well otherwise, just one of those days when everything seemed to hit off the goalie. If we play like that again, I think it's only a matter of time till it clicks in front of goals and tomorrow could well be the time it all comes good. 21/20 for the Hibs win is a very tasty price. We shouldn't be odds against when we play anybody in this league.

Didn't realise there was a raft of games last night but anyway, onto today.

Agree with Ally, Sheffield Wednesday at 7/5 away at Preston, who have nose dived in form of late. Wednesday recorded a cracking win up Newcastle last time out, although they don't score a lot of goals Wednesday, they'll probably win this one 1-0.

Barnsley 5/4 have hit some form and take on Zola's Birmingham City today, who aren't showing any with 4 defeats in 5. Barnsley have recorded the exact same sequence as Birmingham but in reverse, winning 4 of their last 5. Home win here today.

Lastly, onto League One, Southend 13/10 at home to Charlton. After a slow start to the season Southend have started to put some form and consistency together and now find themselves occupying the last play off spot. Charlton continue to be in turmoil, although they did record a win last time out at MK Dons but I really can't see them getting anything today.

Sheffield Wednesday 7/5, Barnsley 5/4 and Southend 13/10

very small choice of games for me to get involved seriously this round but i will however have a go at this accumulator for fun. i know i have included premier league selections in this thread. i'm hoping wins sunderland, west brom and barnet win against the odds so fingers crossed.

sunderland

west brom

peterborough

bristol rovers

plymouth

£10 bet would return about £5000

West Ham are a massive price against Leicester, think they are finally getting on track.        11/4

Wolves are nailed on, Qpr in dire form.        7/10

Bolton are flying and you cannot bet against them.         11/10

Treble for me...

Yes I agree, shame really that the game was beaten by the fog. I'd given my season tickets to a Cardiff supporting mate who lives locally, as I am away this week. Although the extra rest will be good for Brighton before a tough away trip to Fulham on the 2nd.
