Quite often it's simply because they are nowhere near good enough to win in handicap company or indeed any company and a line can be put through these straightaway. Normally you're only left with 2 or 3 that can possibly win My selection is rated 65 but can't seem to win handicaps off that mark. Regularly gets placed and if the mark dropped 5lbs she might be able to win but the mark won't drop because she keeps getting placed.......it's a conundrum for connections but it does show that she's genuine and gives her running. Presumably they're dropping her into selling company just to get a win in the knowledge that it probably won't lead to a rise in her mark.
