Things to consider before the season starts

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that by now everyone knows about the result of the Brexit referendum. Here is a result that you may have not considered. And a result that will affect your betting. 332 players will have to leave England because they do not meet the requirements of the law for their work permit. More than 100 play for Premier League Teams and they will have to be dismissed. The greatest name at this time that will have to leave is Payet. I.E. the balance of power for next season will change. And this is something to be thought about closely before the next bet is placed.

Incorrect. Cameron has resigned. Therefore, no laws can be passed until a new government is elected in October. According to article 50 of the EU the application for exit must be submitted now for the appropriate negotiations to begin. Also as per article 50 the nation submitting the application is considered as EXITING IMMEDIATELY. The negotiations are meant only to make the transition smooth and not to APPROVE the exit. Which means that the applicable law from the date of the applcation till October is the one valid NOW. Which calls for 30% participation to the national teams' obligations for the non English players. There is only one solution to the issue. Temporary work permits until it is resolved.

The Premier League is such a massive revenue generator both here and abroad that I am sure the powers that be will come to some arrangement. I would be amazed if any real change happens and, as Paul said, even if it does in an extreme the earliest any change will come in is two years time when Article 50 is all done and dusted.

Crazy post. The only thing to watch out with your bets in the early stages is the automatic red card rule for abusing the ref. We might end up with a lot of games with 9 v 8 players until everyone gets to grip with that change ;)

You just made me think of my last seasons fantasy football when Courtois got send off in the very first game :) Not the greatest of starts, that should have been an omen for us all to lay Chelsea winning the title then :)

Haha, yeah. In our football club fantasy team about 90% of the teams had Courtois, Terry, and one other Chelsea player expecting a strong title defence. Oh dear.
