Pakistan vs England T20s

England have been uncharacteristically potent over the last few weeks. They have a pair of T20 openers who have ODI tons to their name in the recent series. Jason Roy in particular, has gone about his business in fine style for some time now.

Others, like Eoin Morgan, James Taylor and Joe Root have made significant contributions, while Jos Buttler’s rapid ton has inspired the kind of confidence that masks at least a season’s terrible form. It could prove to be the time honoured decent knock that favoured players live off for a good year or two.

Cynicism aside, things do look good under the watchful eye of Paul Farbrace, who seems hell bent on dragging England kicking and screaming, into the 21st century. A total of 350 is no longer a distant, unattainable dream.

Meanwhile, Pakistan are reverting to type. Brilliant and terrible on the flick of a coin.

Mohammad Hafeez recently said he could not play in the same team as disgraced seamer, Mohammad Amir, gaining plenty of praise for his zero tolerance stance. The likeable batsman has been an achilles heel for England so far, scoring regularly and getting his runs at a good rate.

Elsewhere, only Shoaib Malik and Sarfraz Ahmed has been reliable enough to contribute to a decent score. Skipper Azhar Ali showed some much needed touch last time, but the bowlers had already given the game away. If they can put a full performance together then they may get a result, but form is stacked in England’s favour. Moeen Ali seems to just get wickets, regardless of what he chucks down, and David Willey has been hugely impressive so far alongside Chris Woakes. It will be interesting to see if Sam Billings gets a call-up as a batsman, but who ever get the nod, England are a massive price here. You can back England to win at 10/11 with Ladbrokes.

I would have been all over England to win as well - I probably still will be - but did you see their awful batting display against UAE? Off the top of my head it was something like 82 runs from the last 81 balls, with 9 or 10 wickets in hand. That would be poor against a top team but against a team like UAE it's even more abysmal.

Agree with you Potus. The problem is they seem to be unable to manage a rate throughout an entire innings. I think a lot of that has to come down to being too tied to 'plans'!

England aren't a great T20 side, but Pakistan look like they've lost all confidence. They've been so poor in the last two games.
