Panama did great getting to the final two years ago, but i cant help but thinking they are being a bit over rated here.In their last 18 games since the gold cup they have only won 4.Three of those were against Cuba,Nicaragua and El Salvador.Most recently they got thumped 4-0 by Ecuador. I think that the market is overestimating them.Even in the last gold cup they did beat Mexico twice, but that was a Mexican b team without any of their players based in Europe.In other games they scraped past Martinique with a late penalty and drew 0-0 against a Canadian team without many of their star players. vasilli07 Posted July 7, 2015 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Why are you taking the last Gold Cup results? In last year Copa Centroamericana, they nearly beat the 3rd best team in the region Costa Rica. They lead 2-0 before 2 late goals pegged them back. They went on to finished the same points in the group with Costa Rica. They were unlucky not to qualify for the finals with -1 goal difference poorer than Costa Rica. If you want to look at friendly results, they even beat Costa Rica in March. That team include star players like Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell. As a Haiti, their most recent win was a 2-1 against Cuba, a team which was thrashed 6-1 by Panama in the last Gold Cup. davysheehy1 Posted July 7, 2015 Author Share Posted July 7, 2015 To be fair Costa Rica played that Copa Centroamericana without Diaz, Gamboa, Gonzalez, Umana, Navas, Bolanos and Bryan Ruiz. I'm not suggesting that Haiti are better than Panama.Rather that I think it will be a lot closer than the odds suggest. For me Panama are too short imo.
