Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Tournament preview: 1pt ew M.Fu to win China Open 40/1 Skybet (1/2 1-2) Marco Fu looks to be playing well at the minute and it was only a combination of dodgy conditions and a battling Neil Robertson that denied him a run in the PTC finals last week but he has been threatening a real big week for a while and with the draw he has here this could be the week he delivers it. Coming from Hong Kong he will be fine in the heavier Asian conditions and with the boost that O’Sullivan has gone from his quarter there’s a case to be made that only Shaun Murphy stands between him and the semi-final. With that in mind I’ll take a punt on the Hong Kong man at 40/1. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/china-open-betting-marco-fu-can-head-to-sheffield-with-the-china-open-title

Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Monday TV previews: 4pts N.Robertson (-2.75 frames) to beat D.Poomjaeng 1.80 Bet365 I expect Robertson to win this match and while Poomjaeng might have the odd moment I don’t think it will be any more than that so I’m happy to take the Australian with a handicap here. He is likely to get plenty of chances to win frames and he has shown both recently and historically that he is more than competent of taking them. Robertson could do with a confident boost and this should be it. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/poomjaeng-vs-n-robertson-betting-neil-robertson-should-cruise-through-opening-round 3pts G.Greene to beat B.Hawkins 11/4 Paddy Power You’d have to be a brave man to back Hawkins right now and while he should win I can’t get interested in him again until he starts putting a couple of wins together. Gerard Greene is nothing special but he can put runs together and keep things tight and when the pressure comes on he might just be the stronger in those moments. Greene might just be worth chancing in this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/hawkins-vs-greene-betting-gerard-greene-could-be-value-against-out-of-form-hawkins 4pts Ding (-2.5 frames) to beat M.Campbell 5/6 Paddy Power Ding’s in no form at all but you can’t help but like him here. Campbell is equally as out of form and he doesn’t have the talent Ding does. In fairness to Ding he’s still scored ok in the matches he’s played but opponents have had a bit of luck against him or played well. I don’t see Campbell outplaying him so this should be just the kick start Ding’s season needs. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-campbell-betting-ding-can-finally-build-some-momentum-in-china 4pts D.Morris (+2.5 frames) to beat S.Maguire 8/11 Ladbrokes You would expect Stephen Maguire to win this match, especially as he has beaten David Morris twice this season already but there’s a little more pressure on the Scot here and that pressure might keep Morris interested. He can play with a bit of freedom and let his cue arm flow a bit more and put together enough breaks to make it to three frames if he can’t quite win the required five. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Tuesday TV preview: 4pts M.Selby (-2.75 frames) to beat M.Joyce 1.80 Bet365 Mark Selby might not have had the best of times in the last couple of weeks but one thing which can’t be questioned is his quality and having seen one major rival disappear this week already I’m sure his mind will be focused on the job in hand here. Truth be told he should be too good for Mark Joyce and I would be surprised if he isn’t. I fancy the world champion to come through with a good deal in hand. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/joyce-vs-selby-betting-mark-selby-should-have-too-much-in-the-first-round 4pts S.Bingham (-2.5 frames) to beat P.Lines 5/6 Paddy Power It isn’t ideal for Bingham that Lines has already had a match this week but even so I still expect Bingham to come through here without too many problems. He has been in excellent form recently having made the semi-final of two top tournaments and has been mixing it, and beating, much better opposition than Lines. Lines deserves respect for his win in the wildcard round but that’s about it. Bingham for me here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-lines-betting-stuart-bingham-can-continue-his-good-form-in-beijing-opener 4pts J.Trump (-2.5 frames) to beat A.Higginson 4/6 Spreadex It is hard to see anything but a Judd Trump win here. For me the question is how many will he win by and I fancy him to come through this with plenty to spare. Higginson has only won two frames in his last four matches against the former China champion and that neither surprises me nor bodes well for him here. I would be surprised if this isn’t a comfortable Trump win. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/higginson-vs-trump-betting-judd-trump-can-have-few-problems-in-first-round 4pts J.Cope vs S.Murphy - Over 7.5 frames 5/4 William Hill This should be a good match because they both like getting the balls open and clearing them up so I’m not expecting too much safety to be played here. That might suit Murphy because he isn’t always as good as he should be in that area of the game. Cope still isn’t firing on all cylinders but he is a lot closer than he once was so I fancy this to be tighter than it looks on paper. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Wednesday TV previews: 4pts A.McGill vs S.Murphy - Over 7.5 frames 11/10 Paddy Power Shaun Murphy has won the previous two meetings between these two but they were five years ago and McGill is a lot more established now. I actually think the Scot has every chance in this match but at the very least I expect him to run Murphy close. Although Murphy started 2015 in red hot form his scoring has left him in recent weeks and with McGill’s classy all round game having seen off the likes of John Higgins and Judd Trump this season he should force Murphy into a battle at the very least. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/mcgill-vs-murphy-betting-tight-match-on-the-cards-in-beijing 4pts M.Williams (-2.5 frames) to beat M.Leslie 4/6 William Hill Leslie has done well to get this far when you think his win over Allen in qualifying was only his second since the Australian Open qualifying back in June. The £6,500 he has banked will do wonders for his ranking and he can have a go at this without any pressure but he’ll be in an environment he isn’t used to and playing a man who looks back to his very best form so I’m expecting Williams to do a bit of a job on Leslie here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/williams-vs-leslie-betting-mark-williams-can-continue-his-good-form-in-china 3pts M.Davis to beat D.Junhui 7/4 Boylesports This will be a good test for Ding. Although he ended his losing run in the first round he was always going to beat Marcus Campbell, this isn’t an opponent he will definitely beat in current form. Mark Davis has taken care of Neil Robertson in the last two tournaments so he is clearly playing well at the minute and if Ding doesn’t start winning frames in one visit Davis could easily take care of him too. There’s enough value on the Englishman here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-davis-betting-chinese-crowd-could-be-left-disappointed 4pts P.Ebdon vs J.Trump - Over 7.5 frames 5/4 Paddy Power These two met at this stage of this tournament 12 months ago and Ebdon prevailed in a deciding frame and I think the veteran has enough about him to draw Judd into a battle he probably doesn’t want to be in here. There will be the odd frame where Trump gets the balls open and clears up but by and large this could turn into Ebdon’s match in the heavier conditions. Trump showed at the Grand Prix that he can battle though so I fancy over 7.5 frames here. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Last 16 TV previews: 4pts D.Gilbert (+2.5 frames) to beat M.Selby 5/6 Bet365 Dave Gilbert has a decent enough record against Mark Selby by today’s standards and given that he looks to be playing well he is worth siding with given that he gets a 2.5 frames start here. If Selby is struggling with his neck the last thing he will want is to be involved in a lengthy battle so the longer Gilbert remains competitive the more chances he may get. Gilbert might even win the match but I’ll have his start on my side. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/gilbert-vs-selby-betting-mark-selby-can-be-made-to-work-hard-in-last-16 4pts J.Jones (+2.5 frames) to beat S.Murphy 5/6 Paddy Power Jamie Jones has a decent enough record over Murphy. He beat him in the Welsh Open and the Shootout recently and also has a World Championship win over him too. In fact the only time Murphy has beaten Jones he hit a 147 along the way which showed how well he played in that match so Jones should fancy his chances here. Murphy has given his opponents chances this week so I fancy Jones to go well enough to cover the handicap here if not win the match. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/jones-vs-murphy-betting-jamie-jones-can-provide-a-strong-challenge-once-again 4pts Ding vs M.Williams - Over 7.5 frames 5/6 Paddy Power This should be a high quality match. Ding is back into something like his better form and Mark Williams has been back to his best for a while now so I’m expecting a punch then counter punch type match where they match themselves throughout and then one of them gets on top towards the end. With that in mind I like the look of over 7.5 frames in a match between two top quality players. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-williams-betting-top-quality-players-could-be-hard-to-separate 4pts J.Higgins vs J.Trump - Over 7.5 frames Evs Paddy Power Higgins has a decent record against Trump although the youngster has got the better of him in their last two meetings but I think Higgins is playing well again now after 18 months or so where he was low in confidence and not producing the standards we expect from him. Higgins goes well overseas so this is a tough assignment for Trump. It isn’t one he has no chance in but I don’t see either running away with this one. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Friday QF previews: 4pts R.Milkins (+2.5 frames) to beat M.Selby 8/11 Stan James The way Robert Milkins is playing I think he has a chance in this match but you’re brave to take on Selby completely at this stage of a tournament. Nevertheless I can’t ignore the form of both men going into the match so I am going to support the Gloucester man but I’ll take him with the 2.5 frame head start. Selby isn’t firing on all cylinders and Milkins is looking for every win he can get this week so he can take this deep at the very least. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/milkins-vs-selby-betting-milkins-can-continue-his-quest-for-crucible-qualification 4pts K.Maflin vs S.Murphy - Over 7.5 frames 5/4 Paddy Power I think this one could be a close match because not only are they both playing so well but more importantly they are both scoring well so whenever one of them gets a chance you’d back them to make full use of it. Both men can get themselves in from distance and you wouldn’t want either playing safety for your life so this should be an open match and one which contains more frames than you might expect. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/maflin-vs-murphy-betting-quarter-final-can-be-a-close-run-affair 4pts J.Higgins to beat D.Junhui 5/4 Betway On what I saw in the previous round I like John Higgins here. He doesn’t carry the same head to head dominance over Ding that he did over Trump but he does carry a lot more momentum with him. His safety game looks up to scratch and we could tell with that clearance in the decider that the Scot is cueing well. Ding did well to beat Williams in the last round but I detected Williams had reached the point where he wanted to get home after so much recent success and time on the road so I fancy Higgins to edge this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-higgins-betting-higgins-can-end-the-home-challenge-in-beijing 4pts B.Hawkins (-1.5 frames) to beat G.Wilson 8/11 Ladbrokes For me Barry Hawkins has been the player of the week so far and he’ll be looking to go on from here to really maximise all the form and momentum he can get out of the week. I just wonder how much Wilson will be looking at potentially winning a first title and how much he’ll be looking at getting back for the world qualifiers which begin on Wednesday. I would imagine it would be the former but Hawkins can make his mind up for him by sending him on the plane when this one is over. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Semi final 1 preview: 4pts K.Maflin (+2.5 frames) to beat M.Selby 11/10 William Hill We still haven’t seen Mark Selby anywhere near his best this week so if the nerves and occasion don’t get the better of Kurt Maflin he will have a chance here. He will definitely get the chances to get into the match based on what we’ve seen in the tournament so far and the way he is scoring you’d have to think he’ll take enough of them to stay close to the world champion if not actually have enough to pip him at the end. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Semi final 2 preview: 4pts D.Junhui (-2.5 frames) to beat G.Wilson 4/5 Spreadex Gary Wilson’s had a wonderful week but I think the pressure Ding’s scoring will put on him will eventually take its toll and I expect Ding to make it through to contest the final and try to defend his title. It has taken a while but we are finally seeing Ding back to his best this week and his best should see him cruise into yet another major final. Re: China Open 30 Mar - 5 Apr Final preview: 4pts G.Wilson (+4.5 frames) to beat M.Selby 11/10 Betfred I think Selby will win this final but I see no reason why Gary Wilson won’t stay true to form and stay aggressive now. He has nothing to lose in this final. He’s getting a big cheque either way and isn’t expected to win from here so if he keeps going on the attack he could just pull off a big upset. That’s how he’ll be viewing it I’m sure. Selby has plenty of pressure on him and while I expect him to win I don’t think it will be before Wilson covers the handicap.
