Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Tournament preview: 1pt ew J.Perry to win Players Championship Finals 40/1 Stan James (1/2 1-2) Joe Perry has won an Asian Tour event this season and made the final of another event in Asia when he was edged out in the final of the Wuxi Classic so the heavier conditions that Asia offers doesn’t seem to affect his game in a negative way and if he can come past Ding Junhui in the first round, and he beat the Chinese player in The Masters, then his draw could open up quite quickly. Perry was beaten in Wales early enough to get himself ready for this tournament and he didn’t do a huge amount wrong in that event so at 40/1 Perry is worth a punt this week. Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Tuesday TV previews: 3pts M.King to beat B.Hawkins 2/1 Coral These two met at the German Masters last month and King won on that occasion and given the complete lack of confidence Hawkins looks to have King could be worth a go in this match too. His freshness can’t be a bad thing and although Hawkins was in Wales less time than the eclipse it will still have been an inconvenience travelling there and back and not winning a frame. King isn’t the most reliable but he’s the value here at 2/1. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/hawkins-vs-king-betting-mark-king-could-be-value-to-knock-off-the-defending-champion 4pts J.Higgins to beat S.Maguire 5/4 Coral Higgins ended a rotten record against Maguire when he beat him on the way to the Welsh Open title last month and I’ve a feeling he can see off his Scottish opponent again here. Higgins tends to go well overseas and he’ll be playing with slightly more freedom in his cueing arm here. Higgins’ all round game is still so strong and he’s had plenty of good results recently. This can be another one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/maguire-vs-higgins-betting-john-higgins-can-see-off-maguire-once-again 3pts M.Fu to beat N.Robertson 7/4 Ladbrokes This is nicely set up to be a good match and it is one I think Fu looks good value in. Robertson showed signs of tiredness in Llandudno last week and a trek to Thailand probably isn’t going to help that any. Generally matches between these two are tight affairs. Three of their last four have gone to a deciding frame and Fu won two of those so he’s the value in what could be another tight match, especially as he looks much fresher. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/n-robertson-vs-fu-betting-marco-fu-looks-value-to-edge-out-robertson-again 4pts J.Perry to beat D.Junhui 13/10 Betfair For whatever reason Ding’s game looks to be in pieces right now and Perry has to be supported at odds against here. Ding had no answer to Ricky Walden in Wales last week and has succumbed to worse opponents than him recently too. Perry has a win over Ding at The Masters at the start of the year and given the form of both men going into this tournament you have to think he has every chance of repeating that result here. Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Wednesday TV previews: 4pts R.Lawler (+2.5 frames) to beat S.Murphy 4/6 Ladbrokes Shaun Murphy is a rightful favourite here but we saw one player grind him down when Peter Ebdon beat him in the World Grand Prix last week so it wouldn’t be beyond all known possibilities for Lawler to do the same, especially when Lawler looked to be hitting it nicely in Llandudno last week. Lawler won’t lack for anything tactically and if he gets the chances he could well win this but either way I’m confident he’ll win a couple of frames at least. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-lawler-betting-rod-lawler-can-cause-murphy-problems-in-bangkok 3pts M.Selby (-2.5 frames) to beat D.Dale 6/4 Bet365 Dominic Dale hasn’t won a frame in the last two meetings with Mark Selby and I’m not convinced he’s going to win many in this match either. We saw him wiped out by one top player last week when he hardly potted a ball against Judd Trump and another heavy loss stares the Welshman in the face here. Selby can win open frames and scrappy ones and I expect him to be too good here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/selby-vs-dale-betting-mark-selby-should-be-too-good-for-dale-in-thailand 4pts J.Trump vs L.Brecel - Over 0.5 centuries Evs Bet365 This should be an entertaining match. They both love to get the balls open and clear them up and I can’t see Trump wanting to hang around and get bogged down in any case after his hectic preparation for this tournament so we could see him attack even more than usual. He’ll either pot everything or leave the table open to Luca but what it does do is give us plenty of potential for at least one century. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-brecel-betting-two-massive-scorers-can-hit-three-figures-during-this-match 4pts M.Williams (-1.5 frames) to beat T.Un-Nooh 4/5 Ladbrokes This match sees the losing semi-finalists in the Indian Open come together and while both made the same round in that tournament Williams probably came away from it feeling better about himself because Michael White was just too good for him whereas Un-Nooh will know even now that he should have beaten Walden. That sort of thing can linger with inexperienced players and I think Williams can take full advantage of that by winning here. Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Thursday TV previews: 4pts S.Murphy (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Gould 4/5 Ladbrokes A look down the head to head of these two reads of a Murphy dominance and I think based on what we saw in the opening round that dominance is likely to continue here. Gould wasn’t at his best in the first round and his preparation for the tournament has to have been a little hectic. Murphy has the advantage in that and the confidence in his record against his fellow Englishman and that can prove the difference here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-gould-betting-shaun-murphy-can-be-too-good-for-gould-in-bangkok 4pts S.Bingham to beat M.Allen Evs Paddy Power Form and momentum are big things in snooker right now and that is right behind Stuart Bingham here. He has been winning matches recently and he scored very well against Alan McManus which isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Allen outlasted Ryan Day in the first round but he’ll have to perform a lot better here. Generally Bingham has the upper hand when these two meet and I fancy he can have it again here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-allen-betting-stuart-bingham-can-move-into-the-last-eight-in-bangkok 3pts M.Davis to beat N.Robertson 5/2 BetVictor When the two met last week Davis won and he could be a little bit of value in this match too. He doesn’t have a great to lose even though the match is quite important to him but he goes well in Thailand which will give him further confidence. Robertson wasn’t his usual high quality self in the opening round and if he doesn’t improve then he could suffer the same fate he did when these two last met. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/n-robertson-vs-davis-betting-mark-davis-can-repeat-last-week-s-win-over-the-aussie 4pts M.Williams to beat M.Selby 11/8 Spreadex We’ve got two high class players in opposition here and I just fancy Williams in this one. To me he has looked back to his best for a while and I’m convinced a title isn’t too far away from him. It may even be this week if he comes through this match. We never really saw how well Selby is playing against Dale because he was on easy street but he can’t afford to be there here. Martin Gould outscored him last week and I sense Williams could do likewise here. Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Friday QF previews: 4pts J.Perry (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Holt Evs Paddy Power I took Joe Perry outright for this tournament and he’s serving me well at the minute and I think he can continue to do that. Michael Holt is going well himself this week but Perry has shown his quality from the front against Ding and from behind against McGill and that fighting spirit can serve him well here. I’m not so convinced Holt will be so reliable from behind so I like Perry and if he gets ahead early he could run away with this. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/holt-vs-perry-betting-joe-perry-can-be-too-good-for-michael-holt 4pts S.Bingham (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Davis 11/10 William Hill Mark Davis is clearly playing well to have beaten Neil Robertson twice in the space of a week but Robertson wasn’t at his best in either of those matches it has to be said. My big concern with Davis was his total no show in the quarter final against Bingham last week. I don’t expect him to be that bad against but his problem is that Bingham looks to be in even better form than he was last week so with that in mind I have to take Bingham to prevail again. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/davis-vs-bingham-betting-stuart-bingham-can-repeat-last-week-s-win-over-davis 3pts M.Gould to beat J.Trump 9/4 Coral Gould will know he should have beaten Trump last week and that might make him extra determined to get the job done here. I think he’s more likely to beat Trump over this distance as he is more than capable of keeping a sustained burst of quality up over four frames but maybe not the longer formats. Trump is entitled to feel a little tired after his exertions over the last couple of weeks so maybe the value here is with Gould. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/gould-vs-trump-betting-martin-gould-is-value-to-extract-revenge-for-last-week 4pts M.Williams (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Selt Evs William Hill This should be a good match. Both men have shown they can win from behind and both are fairly good frontrunners but the extra quality is with Williams as is all the momentum. He’s in the middle of a fantastic couple of months and he has looked one of the best players on show this week despite the fact he was 3-1 down to Selby. The way he turned that around said a lot about his confidence and I expect him to come through here. Re: Players Championship Finals - 24-28 Mar Semi final previews: 3pts J.Perry vs S.Bingham - Over 0.5 centuries 11/10 Bet365 I’m already on Joe Perry outright and he’ll land the place part of that bet if he wins this match so I’ve no need to back him again so with that in mind I’m going to punt on a century here. Matches between these two often go all the way to deciding frames so we could well have seven goes at a ton here. They have both looked good in the balls this week so the odds against on a century is worth a go here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/perry-vs-bingham-betting-opening-semi-final-can-contain-at-least-one-century 5pts J.Trump vs M.Williams - Over 5.75 frames 1.78 Bet365 Three of their four meetings this season have gone the distance, all over this format and I’m expecting another tight battle here too. Trump prevailed 4-3 in Wales when they met last week but Williams won 4-3 in India the week before so there is enough to suggest this is going to be a tough match for both so I like the look of going over the Asian total frames line here.
