Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Galway United vs Derry City Express returnee will have the support of the president of the state! Galway is very motivated before the first match in the Premier Division after a recent break-up of the club, while guests from Northern Ireland starting the season with ever lower expectations. The President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins will attend the debut of home team in the Premier Division. He is a big supporter and former president of Galway Utd. Otherwise, the club from the west coast of the island has played five consecutive seasons in the strongest domestic competition until 2011 when they experienced a collapse on the pitch (1-3-32, 20: 115) and off the pitch (the club was disbanded). However, with the help of a strong fan base and two local clubs (Mervue United and Salthill Devon) the Maroon Army was brought to life in 2013, so the club's longtime secretary became president. Hard work and determination for re-establishment of the club paid off as they never hoped for, because one season in the First Division was enough to return to the big stage. True, it wasn't easy, in the league have secured third place only in the last round, then defeated on both occasions the second-placed Shelbourne, that would pave the way towards the elite also with two wins in the play-off against UCD, 11-placed team from the Premier Division. Their coach Tommy Dunne, who played just for Derry when tonight's opponent won the last title (18 years ago). Anyway, his coaching career started in Finland, where he remained for three years before coming to Cork. It is interesting that there came at a time when the club was re-established as was the case with the Galway last year. hHe hastily introduced both teams in the elite. The team did not change a lot of players, but it's worth noting that the promising central defender P. Barret, offensive midfielder R. Manning (best young player of the club last season) and experienced striker V. Faherty (second best scorer last year) are no longer at Eamonn Deacy Park. Defense is led by young right-back C. Horgan, who was in an ideal team of First Division and newly arriving S. Oji, centre back who will mean a lot to the back line with his experience. Captain P. Sinnot, the best player of the club last year R. Connolly, former Mervue top scorer G. Shanahan received help in the middle because D. O'Leary arrived from Cork. Offensive no new players, so the main word will still have a young American J. Keegan, who was club top scorer in 2014. There were some problems with the extension of his work visa, but in the end everything had ended well for both sides. The Tribesman have played three friendly matches before the start of the season, two wins and a draw without conceding a goal. Back-up goalkeeper G. Hanley and new central defender K. Cantwell are injured and will be out for another month. The young defender A. Byrne is suspended from last year, while left-back M. Ludden is doubtful due to injury in training yesterday. Exactly 30 years since Derry City joined the football competitions in Ireland. In fact, it is the only club in the league who is from Northern Ireland from where they have deviated due to security concerns (they were not allowed to play at their stadium). So, they play in a league that is outside of their geographic jurisdiction, the best example of this is Monaco, which competes within the French league. The Candystripes are known for their excellent editions in the Cup competitions (15 trophies), they are the only club that won all three major domestic competitions in one season (1989), and dropped out of the Premier Division only in 2009 due to financial problems. So even though this is a club from a neighboring country, certainly not talking about a club that has no important role in the League of Ireland. However, in the the last two seasons team is in a declining form with a bad performance at their Brandywell which was once known as a difficult-conquerable fortress for the visiting team. Since last summer at the helm is Peter Hutton who at the beginning of the season 2014 was assistant coach. Although he in the past was interim coach on two occasions (2004 and 2009), this time he got a two-year contract. Normally, Hutton is a club legend, a former captain and the recorder for the most appearances for City (18 years was a player). Before this coaching engagement, was the first coach in the First Division club Finn Harps. Admittedly, he doesn't expect easy task because the budget is reduced in accordance with non-securing playing in Europe next summer, so it is not surprising that he has at its disposal only two players who have more than 25 years. Two experienced midfielders B. Molloy (former captain, 10 years at the club) and D. Ventre (arrived last season from Sligo, where he was captain) left the country. But that's not the worst as far as the outgoing transfers. Talented left winger M. Duffy was club top scorer in the league matches last season, which was enough to go to the big Scottish Celtic. An even greater loss is going to Australia of R. Patterson, who was three years in a row top scorer of the club including all competitions in which they took part. The two of them scored exactly half of the club's goals in the league last year. The excellent defender and captain R. McBride will continue to lead the backline, and P. McEleney the midfield, although there are still some very talented young midfielders such as B. McNamee, M. Timlin, S. Dooly... As replacement for the the first striker was brought experienced Englishman A. Elding to whom this will be even 20th club in his career (he was top scorer in 2013 in Sligo). The team looked great in pre-season matches when they recorded all six wins, three against the Northern Irish Premiership clubs. Even three players must serve a penalty from a previous season: R. McBride, S. Dooley and M. Timlin. New acquisitions, defender S. Sharkey and striker C. Morrison are injured, while another new pair of defender - forward (S. Kelly and A. Elding) is not sure that will debut due to injury in yesterday's training. prediction: 1:0 bet for fun: Galway United @2.60 Pinnacle reccomended bet: no bet

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Shamrock Rovers vs St Patrick's Southside Dublin derby is the most interesting match of the first round between neighboring clubs are located only 10 minutes and will be played in front of TV cameras. Shamrock Rovers is by far the most successful Irish club and the only who finds group phase of a European competition (by knocking out Partizan Belgrade 2011). However, since then they have been in a much less favorable shape, with just two conquered of the available 12 trophies during that time, which is certainly not in line with the club's ambitions. The first move is made already near the end of last season when experienced coach Pat Fenlon was brought. He immediately "awakened" the team and made a respectable effect in their last 11 league matches (6-4-1, with only four conceded goals). Popular "Nutsy" has already won the Premier Division five times with two other Dublin clubs in the period 2003-2009. In recent times he led the Hibernian with whom he achieved the greatest success with the placement in the two finals of the Scottish Cup. Like all Irish clubs, and the Hoops had a lot of changes in the roster compared to the previous season. The defense is almost remained unchanged since the only experienced defender J. McGuinness gone (in the squad of today's rival). There came a new three defenders, but more important is that five of them, who came a year ago, now have valuable experience of togetherness. Midfield has lost a leader, as R. Finn (club player of the 2012 season and the club's top scorer in 2013) moved to Dundalk, but were brought worthy replacement in the form of experienced K. Fahey (former representative of Ireland) and G. Brennan (former captain of Drogheda). Considering that the team has scored just 43 goals in 33 matches last year, logically sound that offensive line has been completely renewed. New offensive force led experienced D. North (top scorer last season, Sligo), and also there is a perspective M. Drennan (played for Aston Villa U19 team). In the preparatory period, they have recorded two wins and a draw against the First division sides, as well as win and defeat against foreign clubs (3: 2 Brann; 0:1 LA Galaxy). They will have problems in composing of the first team since five players are suspended: first goalie B. Murphy, and four midfielders - brothers Brennan, K. Fahey and S. McPhail. St Patrick's have better performance than city rivals in the last three years and they are one of two clubs who have never dropped from the elite rank of Irish football. Although not repeat the success from 2013 when they were champions, the Saints have won the 53-year long-awaited FAI Cup trophy as satisfy their appetites last season. Their coach is another common link between the Pats and Rovers, as Liam Buckley is as a player won the title with two clubs. The extension of his contract is a big plus for the club, which means that they will continue to play the most attractive football on the island. As far as the transfer deadline, and there the connection between two the Dublin rivals is clearly evident in the recent past. Last year's captain C. Kenna gone to Tallaght and most experienced midfielder K. Fahey (16 appearances for Ireland) is gone now. In the opposite direction, as mentioned above, defender J. McGuinness and lethal striker C. Kilduff arrived in Inchicore. Two of the top three scorers of the Premier Division in 2014 - C. Fagan and C. Byrne stayed at the club, as well as some of the most talented players in the league (S. Hoare and C. Forrester who have had calls from England). Also, there is still experienced K. Brennan has won all domestic club and individual trophies in his career. Interestingly, his two brothers playing for tonight's rivals. The team has had fantastic results in the pre-season, four wins without conceding a goal and scoring 16. It is true that their three opponents were from the First division, but who cares. They had a great overture before the start of the league, playing the second consecutive President's Cup seven days ago. Dundalk manage better on their artificial pitch during bad weather and won 2:1, where all goals were seen in only three minutes. The Saints will definitely be without two important first team players who must complete suspension from last year (S. Hoare and K. Brennan), while the captain G. O'Brien and young midfielder J. McGrath are doubtful due to injuries. prediction: 1:2 bet for fun: St Patrick's over 1,5 goals @3.00 William Hill reccomended bet: visit my links (the source of this information) where you can find many valuable bets if you register.

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Dundalk vs Longford Town Who will finish better of champions from last season? Dundalk won the title after 19 years thanks to a dramatic victory in the final round and is the second most successful club in the country, Longford is back in elite company after seven years convincingly winning the First Division. The Lilywhites were great in 2014, the only unbeaten at home in the league and same time they won the League Cup - a fantastic achievement if we take into consideration that the club finished in 11th place in 2012. It is worth mentioning that this is the only club who play on artificial surface and that them even more favors when they play at Oriel Park. Their coach is without hesitation got a contract extension and he will have mixed emotions at the opening game of the season. The now 43-year-old Stephen Kenny is the youngest coach in the history of domestic football in Ireland because with only 27 years took over the club which tonight will be against its current club. Although Longford was in the second league at the moment when he becomes coach, shortly after he brought them to placement in the UEFA Cup. Otherwise, Stephen Kenny was named for the personality of League of Ireland in 2014. Their biggest loss during the transfer period is certainly striker P. Hoban; departure of the top scorer of last season (scoring 20 of 73 club goals), who was also the club's top scorer in 2013, will be hard to compensate. The defensive line has not changed much, goalkeeper P.Cherrie, who was five years a regular, is gone, but he was replaced by experienced G. Rogers, who was named for the best goalkeeper in the league in 2011 and 2012. Already strong midfield (D. Horgan and R. Towell are greatest young talents in the league in the last two seasons, been linked with English teams) got two offensive signings: R. Finn (top scorer for Shamrock in 2013) and J. Kelly (top scorer for Bray in 2014). However, the club has not brought a worthy replacement for the first striker and it is the only serious problem for them. Nonetheless, the team has looked very good in pre-season matches: two wins and a draw in friendly matches with excellent goal difference (12: 2); and three wins in a little more competitive matches: 2:1 UCD (LSC), 2: 0 Drogheda (JMC) and 2:1 St Patrick's (PC), so that Dundalk starts defending the title in great mood. However, the bad news for them is that the captain S. O'Donnell is injured and will be out for another month. Winger D. Meenan is suspended for this match and that's the end of their missing players. De Town is finally back in the Premier Division after are previous two seasons were eliminated at the very end, even though they were participants in the play-off in 2012 and 2013. Their luck turned last year when they finished in first place - eight points ahead of nearest companions. Their coach is Tony Cousins, who was on the bench since 2010, which makes him as the longest serving coach in one club in Ireland at the moment. After a while, he and his team will be without pressure which can lead to some surprising positive results for all 10 thousand inhabitants of Longford who were very angry to the FAI which took six points from them in the 2007 season due to failure to meet the the requirements for the required licenses. Then they finished just one point below the safe zone and now that "injustice" is corrected to a completely regular and sporty way. Therefore, they will be very motivated to demonstrate that Premier Division is a place for them in the long term and not just for one season. That's why no important players have left the team. The defense which is conceded just 19 goals in 28 last season's appearances will continue to be the strongest part of the team. Defenders P. Flynn, P. Sullivan and C. Powell with a defensive midfielder S. Rice's are experienced players who have won the national title with Shamrock in 2011. There is also arrived another experienced defender M. Rossiter who has experience of playing in the strongest league in the island. A. Ben Mohamed's new midfielder who was one of the best players in UCD last year, but it seems that they lack the necessary experience in the midfield. Attack will naturally lead D. O'Sullavan who was top scorer and player of the year in the First division. The second scorer of the team G. Shaw, also member of the First Division team of the year, will assist him. However, the pre-season games don't inspire much confidence in this team. In fact, the Town had only one win in five friendly matches with First division teams, and even more concerning is the fact that they have conceded no less than 13 goals in those five matches. Within the regional Cup got kicked out Drogheda, but only after a penalty shoot out because in regular time was 2:2. Still no news who will be absent from the visitors, but according to my knowledge they definitely have no suspended players. As for injuries, only young right-back J. Mulhall was out in pre-season, so I guess he will be only missing regular player for them. prediction: 3:1 bet for fun: no bet reccomended bet: visit my links (the source of this information) where you can find many valuable bets if you register.

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Limerick vs Bohemians The Super Blues have played two solid seasons (mid-table) of a return to the Premier Division after almost 20 years, however, it did not satisfy their president who has significantly reduced the budget for this season. That is why several key players left, and the club was forced to recruit some players from the U19 squad to fill the roster. The first objective was to return to the home stadium the Market's Field after two years of playing at Thomond Park, which is a rugby stadium and has over 25,000 seats. Indeed, it was eerie to play in such a place when you take into account that the average crowd was 1,800 fans to their games. However, the renovation of the Market's Field is not finished, so the team will host opponents at Jackman Park, at least the next month. It is certainly a bad effect on the morale of the team. Their coach is Martin Russell, who arrived last summer from St Patrick's, where he was assistant coach. Lims is one of the youngest teams in the league and it suits to this coach because he has experience coaching of young players (five seasons he was head of UCD, which each year had the lowest average age of players). Due to these financial problems tandem regular central defenders (S. Oji and S. Folan) was gone, two solid midfielders (L. Lynch and K. Djilali) who arrived in mid-last season didn't remain for longer. The first goalie Ryan B. retired and club top scorer R. Gaffney moved to English Cambridge United. So, all parts of the team are drastically weakened, but particularly noteworthy is departure of the first attacker, who scored 14 of 37 team goals last year. After all these problems, on the scene came a coach Russell Martin, who managed to bring a few "his" players (P. O'Connor, D. Clarke, C. O'Donnell, S. Harding and S. Russell who have been raised in UCD-in while he was on the bench), and the experienced duo - A. Price defender and striker V. Faherty arrived only few days ago. The captain and midfielder S. Duggan will again lead this team. Thus, the Lims managed to find a balance between youth and experience which should a bit improve the mood of the club. Regarding preparatory matches, they were defeated by the First-division club Cobh Ramblers 2:3, but were successful in the regional cup: 3:1 against Leeds AFC, and 3:3 (8:7 after penalties) against a local rival, Cork City. It's interesting that Limerick played without goals in their opening matches in the last two years. Midfielder and coach's son S. Russell and left back C. Murphy are out, but a lot more would be missed P. O'Conor who is doubtful for this encounter. Bohemians is the oldest club on the island, never dropped from the Premier Division, but the club still has not recovered from the financial crisis that has struck them a few years ago. However, the club got a new general sponsor (online casino Mr. Green) which is a positive thing in the year of the jubilee - 125 years of existence. The Gypsies have suffered perhaps the biggest changes compared to last season from all the clubs in the league. Legend of Bohs O. Heary is gone after eight years in north Dublin (as captain and as coach until the end of last season). It is certainly a big blow for them, but they managed to bring the coach who had almost did a small miracle last autumn. Keith Long came in Athlone on half of the season, and almost managed to secure the survival for them, which is still been enough for the third most successful team in the country to call him. He brought along five players (D. Prendergast, D. Mahon, D. Hayes, J. O'Brien and K. Dillon) from his former club at Dalymount Park. Defense will again be led by D. Pender, who is also the new captain of the team, experienced defender A. Price moved to Limerick. Two regular midfielders (E. Wearen and K. Devaney) are left with a coach in Sligo, but the good news for them is that experienced D. Mulcahy returned to the club. In fact, the former captain went to Cork when the season ended, but due to work commitments had to return to his old company. K. Moore will be a key player in the middle where he will assist to some of the many newcomers. Young strikers M. Griffin and D. Kelly have come as a replacement for the top scorer of D. Corcoran and the second striker S. Beattie who also gone to Sligo. Veteran and second best scorer in the history of the Premier Division, J. Byrne stayed for another season with Bohs. It is obvious that a new coach and a lot of changes in the squad require a specific time of adaptation before the team begins to offer its maximum. So they are in pre-season had below-average performance: lost against Ireland U19 (0:1), defeated Bray only after a penalty out within the regional Cup (0:0), and had equal record against three the First division clubs, 1-1-1 with a goal difference 4:2. They have three suspended players (S. Best, C. Murphy and J. O'Brien), defender D. Byrne has long-absent due to injury, while former captain D. Mulcahy has still not recovered. New captain D. Pender and new striker D. Kelly are questionable.

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Sligo Rovers vs Cork City Rovers had the worst season (as many as 10 defeats in 17 away games) in the last five years and have made big changes before this season. New coach is Owen Heary who as a player holds the record for most appearances in European competitions. It is true, he is the youngest and most inexperienced coach in the league, the only one who is under 40 years. Interestingly, Bohemians legend will be only the second domestic coach in Sligo in the last 22 years. Several important players have gone including G. Rogers (best goalie in the league in 2011 and 2012), E. McMillan (key Centre Back), right-back S. Connelly, versatile midfielder P. O'Conor (was the second best scorer) and D. North (top scorer). Indeed it seems that the team is weakened especially by the departure of first and last player. However, it should be said that the coach has brought with him some players when he came from the north of Dublin. So among the four new players who have arrived from Bohemians are: E. Wearen (talented midfielder who played for West Ham U19) and D. Corcaran (club top scorer last season). Promising centre back S. Folan arrived from Limerick where he was a key defender in the last two years. There are also two offensive players who came as free agents: S. Puri who has 56 appearances for the national team of Estonia and M. Nielsen, who played for Chelsea U19. The team immediately changed the style of play and it brought great results in pre-seasonal games. Although opponents were weaker teams, excellent effect was achieved in six friendly matches, all six wins with a fascinating goal difference 33:3. Particularly good news is that new players have scored most of the goals. The Bit o'Red will be without E. Wearen due to suspension, and defender J. Henderson who will be out for several months due to injury. They haven't lost on the opening day of the season since 2008. Cork City is the most southern club on the island and it is known that their U19 team is the best in the country in the last three years, and that they have the best support of fans in the Premier Division. They were the most pleasant surprise last year when they needed only a draw in the last round to win the title. Yet it was the perfect debut season for coach John Caulfield who is club legend (holds the record for most appearances and scored goals in Cork where he played even 16 years). The Rebel Army will have the most experienced team this year and this could be their great advantage, and the fact that only one important player is gone, the talented midfielder G. Morrisey in Cambridge. On the other hand, some really good players are arrived at Turner's Cross. Ex Irish internationals L. Miller and A. Bennett had returned to the club, midfielder G. Holohan (was the player of the year in Drogheda in 2014) and striker K. Sheppard from Shamrock Rovers. So it seems that the team is even stronger compared to the previous season. Potentially five players in Cork City's starting line up in 2015 won the Premier Division title ten seasons ago, this year. The Leesiders have played as many as nine pre-season matches where achieved an average performance of 4-3-2 (18-10). They have not won in their last six away games at the Showgrounds, and not scored a goal in their last four. Forward J. O'Flynn is injured, but the more important news that last year's top scorer B. Dennehy is suspended. Cork City have not won on the opening day of the Premier League season since 2005.

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 Irish Premier Division: Dundalk- Sligo Rovers Hosts have won 4/4 without conceding, Sligo are yet to win and three of those four starts have come at home, but on the plus side they have at least scored in every game. They arrive claiming to be looking for the win , but will probably need to score a couple of goals at least to do so, maybe to even claim a point, given that they are poor defensively and remain without goalkeeper Richard Brush who had only recently forced his way back into the team, center back Jeff Henderson ( 40% win record when he plays, 27% in his absence , over the last two seasons) and midfielder John Russell ( conceded two or more in 6 of the last 9 he has sat out). Hosts have an almost full squad to pick from and will be looking to celebrate head coach Stephen Kenney's 100th game in charge with a win, they have scored six in the last two home games against Rovers, but in truth, I do not think the gap between these two is quite as big as their respective starts to the campaign suggest. I definitely expect to see goals and the last 20 h2h meetings have averaged 2.75 goals, last three Sigo games have all produced two or more first half goals . New visiting boss Owen Heary has a decent squad at his disposal and his team has played better than results suggest, they have been very offensive minded, especially in their sole away start, a 3-2 defeat at Drogheda which they could have won 5-2, were in not for the home keeper putting in a MOTM dispaly and I see this as a potential upset, However, I will suggest 1.25 units "over" 1 goals first half betting 2.02 asian line /Sportmarket and/or 1.25 units "over" 2.5 goals 2.11 asian line/Sportmarket.

Re: Ireland > Airtricity Premier League > 2015 I was close to taking Cork City giving up the big handicap against Longford Town who might not be favoured by the quick turnaround, they have tired quite badly in their last two starts after the break and have lost all three road games (league and cup) against the better (top 4) teams, the last two by two goals and the newly promoted club are playing their 5th match of April today and still coming to terms with this level of competition. The hosts were runner up to Dundalk last season , the pair clear of the pack and they are already 1 and 2 again, City host the leaders this coming Friday and will want maximum points ahead of that game, they are 3-0-0 at home this season with a 10-0 goal difference and are 6-0 in those games through the first half, so, strong starters against a team who might tire after the break . The only problem was that the visitors have refused to give out any team news and the hosts have a couple of important players who picked up knocks on Friday and who will be subject to last minute decisions. Therefore, I cannot put this up as a red type selection (official bet), but if you really must have an interest, I would suggest 1.25 units Cork City -1.25 ball 2.08 asian line/Sportmarket.

Looks amazing that Pats -1 from 1' date='50 went up to 1,89 Pinnacle... :unsure Very strange for me because I believe that this should be an easy win for home team. We will see...[/quote'] Pats 3:0 Longford Actually, it was a great gift of the bookies but not cashed this time. In the next post I'll look back on the performance of all the teams in the first half of the season.

Dundalk 13 2 1 (38:6) The title defence couldn’t have gone any better for the Lilywhites. Midfielders R. Towell and D. Horgan (the best performers of the league so far) led the best team in Ireland in recent years, imo. They have only one artificial pitch in the league and they know how to take advantage of it, hopefully also in the European contest. Their only small flaw is the lack of another quality striker, but even so they are definitely the biggest contender for the title.

Cork City 11 5 1 (30:9) The Leesiders have the highest attendance in the league again this year, and they provided the reasons for supporters to continue coming at Turner's Cross. John Caulfield has at his disposal the best players in the league on paper, a combination of young talents (J. Kavanagh is probably the best right back in the country) and experienced former internationals (A. Bennett, C. Healy, L. Miller). With a quality of Dennehy brothers and a lethal striker K. Sheppard they'll surely try to reach the top.
Shamrock Rovers 9 7 1 (28:11) Arrival of Pat Fenlon at a coaching position at the end of last season proved to be the right decision for the most successful club in the country. The Hoops are much improved teamwork (more defensive than offensive) since then, but it's obvious that the team hasn't yet raised the quality of play to the required level to fight for the title (with as many as seven draws so far). Striker M. Drennan is definitely their biggest star, but if someone else doesn't join him, this won't be the season to taste of their fans.
St. Patrick's 9 4 4 (28:15) The Saints are 10 points behind leaders currently and it certainly is not in line with their ambitions. Reason for this can be justified with a series of injuries in the team (in the defense especially), but we should point their midfield (C. Forrester, C. Byrne, K. Brennan, J. Chambers and G. Bolger) which is among the best in the league definitely. However, they need better luck with injuries and the arrival of some new players who would improve their solid team if they want to join in the struggle for the top..
Bohemians 9 4 4 (23:17) The oldest club in the country is the biggest surprise in the first half of the season in their 125th anniversary year of existence. Not even their most optimistic fans couldn't imagine such a good performance of the club so far. D. Delany probably showed the highest quality of all goalkeeper in the league so far, L. Fitzgerald is one of the best deliverers from set pieces in the league and the rest of the team is harmoniously composed of young (A. Evans, D. Kelly, R. Lopes) and experienced (A. Murphy, D. Prendergast) players - without the need for the new changes.
Longford Town 5 4 7 (16:19) Last year's champion of the First Division have completed half of the season in the top half of the table which is certainly a success for the club from a small town with only 10 thousand inhabitants. This happened mostly thanks to a very experienced defensive line - P. Flynn, C. Powell, S. Rice and P. Sullivan who all played European matches wearing the jersey of Shamrock Rovers in the past. Captain M. Salmon and talented youngster A.B. Mohamed were key midfielders, still need to improve in attack.
Galway United 6 0 10 (21:29) The president's club made a great comeback to the elite so far, in their matches have over three goals in average and the Tribesman are the only club that hasn't yet played a draw. They have young strikers in good shape (E. Curran, J. Keegan, P. Cunningham), a solid midfield (D. O'Leary, R. Connolly, G. Shanahan), but defense is definitely a big wound for this team. Only S. Walshe was played at required level, others have to significantly improve performance, but also the club should bring the goalkeeper who will be a regular in goal.
Drogheda United 5 3 9 (18:27) A new manager Johnny McDonnell was able to organize a team that has provided performance over their expectations, no matter what they are in the bottom half of the table. Captain M. Daly and A. Byrne were key players in the defense, S. Thonton and L. Duffy were the best in their midfield, but but the attack was their weakness. Only D. Kavanagh singled out by playing well, but even he left the team a few days ago. So it's clear that absence of good attackers is their biggest concern for the rest of the season.
Derry City 3 6 8 (12:22) When the only club from Northern Ireland have better record on the road than at the Brandywell we know that something is not going well for the Candystripes. Although they are known by good young talents, this is perhaps too young team where experienced goalkeeper G. Doherty was their best player this season. Brothers McEleney with a few midfielders (M. Timlin, B. McNamee) were are holders of the team, but it wasn't enough for better performance. The biggest concern is the lack of quality strikers especially after the departure of experienced A. Elding recently.
Sligo Rovers 2 6 8 (16:29) The Bit'o'Red are absolutely the biggest disappointment in the league so far. Before the start of the season they are rated among the teams that will fight for a place in European competition, but the reality is that they have two wins from 16 matches. Everyone at the club were below their level, including manager O. Heary who is no longer there (ex player J. Ndo is currently taking charge of the team). Probably the only one worth mentioning is the club's top scorer D. Corcoran, and it's certain that big changes are necessary there.
Bray Wanderers 3 2 11 (11:31) The Seagulls are the only team that has changed coach so far and T. Croly (ex Shamrock manager) is headed now. Although they have off-field troubles (their stadium, which is the oldest in Ireland, is owned by Rugby League now) change of coach has brought the improvement of form and results. The best individuals are young goalkeeper S. McGuinness and captain D. Cassidy, but they need to improve both the defense and the attack looking at stats in the first half of the season.
Limerick 0 5 11 (12:34) Although they had financial problems before the start of the season only a few had expected to Limerick will be the only team without a victory in the half the season. The team urgently need a few new faces in defense and attack in order to have any chance of survival in the league. Back to Market's Field will certainly affect positively on their passing football and on the players among which only midfielders S. Duggan and S. Russell were good so far.

hello Mcnasara' date=' i wanted your view on 2 matchs Wexford Youths vs Waterford United: have hw @ 1.62 local and Drogheda United vs Dundalk : aw @ 1.52 ..what u think ?[/quote'] I don't follow the First Division, so that there's no much help from me - but I know that both teams will be without some players who are with the Irish University Football team in South Korea. Drogheda vs Dundalk is the Louth derby and will be on TV. Guests are hot favorites, though they haven't won at Hunky Dorys Park in the last three matches. Anything is possible in this local derby, but your local odds are very attractive and I would definitely take $1.52 for Dundalk win (since the average odds online is around $1.25).

Drogheda United host Dundalk in the Louth derby this evening at United Park. This game is being televised on Setanta Sports and should be a very interesting derby. Drogheda come into this game having taken 10 points in their last 4 league games. Johnny McDonnell and his backroom staff have really got the confidence flying in the dressing room and the performances and results are showing now. A fortunate and late 1-0 away victory over Bohemians will give the Drogs confidence coming into tonight's game, and they'll be eager to upset their rivals. Also, they'll believe they can put a dent in Dundalk's hopes for Europe and maybe even catch them off guard, as Dundalk may be distracted by their European game next week. Dundalk are still first in the league, and still the best team in the country. Their defeat to Bohs only a few weeks ago ended their unbeaten run that stretched back to August last season, and last week's trashing of Limerick 6-2 certainly helped forget about it too. However, just around the corner now for Stephen Kenny's men is the big Champions League qualifier against BATE Borisov, and that's perhaps the biggest aim for Dundalk right now. Before that though, they have an important derby match to overcome and they also know that they can extend their lead at the top of the Premier Division as all their rivals are busy with European matches of their own. They come into tonight's game full of confidence and quality. I think this is a game that doesn't allow for the usual to take place. Derby games always throw up surprises and Drogheda already showed at the beginning of the season that they will not let Dundalk walk all over them. Of course it's clear that Dundalk are by far the best team in this league, but Drogheda United are in good form and will really want to beat their rivals who are performing so well. In normal circumstances, I'd expect Dundalk to beat a team of Drogheda's calibre by two clear goals, but this is a derby game and therefore there's definitely value on the home team. I like what Johnny McDonnell and his backroom team are doing at Drogheda United. They've built a good solid team and they will give Dundalk are stern test this evening. Drogheda United +1.5AH is therefore worth a small bet. Minimum odds on this line should be 1.90. Good luck if you choose to follow!

Yes, it's the performance of all the teams in the first half of the season. These numbers mean win-draw-loss (goal difference) at the mid-season. Limerick - Bray Wanderers This will be only the second match at Market's Field for Limerick so is expected great support of their fans again. The team will have several new players available in this important match for survival. On the other side, the Seagulls are in a financial crisis and have lost their manager and coaching staff for the second time this season. Home odds are in great decline, but if you have somewhere around $2.50 at the local still that is acceptable to take.

Sligo Rovers - Galway United Both teams have lost in the last round, although have played solid. Sligo will have the Estonian attacking midfielder S. Puri back to squad and topscorer D. Corcoran is expected in the starting line-up. On the other hand, defender S. Folan and midfielder J. Russell are missing. Players will be highly motivated to stop a series of three defeats and to show their best at the new coach. Galway play surprising this season, but the opposite of tonight's opponents, surprisingly well. They would be with the eventual victory came in the top half of the table and for sure that's their goal before tough matches against the leader on Tuesday. This is a Connacht derby and I expect a goals here. over 2,5 $2.03 Pinnacle medium stake

Bray -v- Derry City Bray Wanderers host Derry City this evening at the Carlisle Grounds in a game that sees 9th host 10th. It's a real lower league fixture, as both teams will be hoping to move further away from the relegation dogfight. Bray Wanderers have emerged once again from mysterious and ridiculous circumstances and appointed Mick Cooke as manager. He's the fourth official manager this season for Bray, although the sixth if you include David Cassidy and Dave Scully acting as temporary player-managers. It's a good solid appointment for Bray, as Mick Cooke is a very experienced manager in the League of Ireland, and it should ensure there will be no more turmoil for the rest of this season at Bray. Derry City have had a very poor season, and lots of fans are losing faith in Peter Hutton as manager. However, it would seem that there's bigger problems behind the scenes at the club and that's where the fans are more unhappy. During the transfer window, Peter Hutton has been able to bring in Mark Quigley to bolster Derry's attacking line-up and his capture may give Derry the sort of lift they need. However, it's been two weeks since they played Cork and so Derry should be a bit out of sorts having only played 2 competitive games in the last month. Bray are without goalkeeper Stephen McGuinness for today's game, but having signed Peter Cherrie last weekend, they have a welcome replacement. He'll definitely start in goal today. Otherwise Mick Cooke should have a full squad to choose from for this game. Derry are without the suspended Aaron Barry but otherwise Peter Hutton should have a full squad to choose from. Only Nathan Boyle is definitely not available as he moved to Finn Harps on loan. I think there's a good chance of this game ending in a stalemate. Neither team is playing very well this season. As it happens, both teams are the lowest scoring teams in the league. Derry have only scored 12 goals while Bray have scored just one more goal more. Neither team has the sort of form or quality to rise above the other, and both teams are simply mediocre. Mick Cooke will have his team organised and ready to avoid losing, while Peter Hutton will have his team cautiously looking to take all three points. Therefore a draw is the best value bet in this game I feel. At odds of 3.37, there's certainly value. There's also a very good chance of a lack of goals, and so an under 2.5 goals bet may also be worthwhile. However, there is currently little value on this line. Good luck! My tip: Draw @ 3.37 odds with Pinnacle (1/10 stakes)
