Re: Conference 31st January Braintree v Macclesfield Granted Macclesfield’s superb season has been based around their home form, but their away has improved of late as well and they have won four of their last five on their travels. Everyone keeps expecting them to drop away and admittedly I am one of them, but there is little sign of them slowing at the moment and at this stage it is hard to see them not reaching the play-offs. Braintree’s form has improved recently as well, but their WLWLWL record at home in their previous six games shows how inconsistent they are. The bet is mainly from a value point of view because I can’t believe that if Bristol Rovers were the team going to Braintree that they would be 23/10 (BetVictor). It’s a crazy price and worth an interest. Lincoln v Dover Crystal Palace are the only team to have beaten Dover in their last 22 games and are unbeaten away from home since mid-October. Granted I feel like I have found every freak result going this season when it comes to stopping teams runs, but this really does have away win written all over it and not surprisingly Dover have been well backed already this week. Lincoln have all sorts of injury troubles at the moment and were well beaten by Chester in mid-week where they ended up with nine men. Granted they have won six home games on the bounce, but with them struggling for fit and not suspended players Dover are a good bet at 8/5 and look the bet of the weekend. Southport v Gateshead Gateshead have been a bit of a disappointment for me this season as they play such good football, but they haven’t been getting results. The problem is they have drawn way too many matches and have in fact drawn just as many as they have won. Southport lost 4-0 to Barnet last weekend but they were in the game until late on. I did initially consider backing Southport at 7/2, but given they have drawn 3 of their last 6 home games and Gateshead draw so many, the value has to be with the draw at 27/10 with BetVictor.

Bristol Rovers are not going to Macc Town until 28th March (hope to go the that one) so not sure what Maccs game AWAY at Braintree has got to do with BR going to Macc.

Pretty obvious what I meant, just a simple typo and better ways of pointing it out than that.

Re: Conference 31st January If Chester were. Bit bigger price I would recommend a small play on us welling are not in good form but tend to be draw specialist at home where as we don't do draws the fact that one of our 3 draws came againstv welling puts me off slightly. Id recommend safe bet Chester draw no bet but it small odds . I do know from listening to Steve burr talk in training on Thursday we are going there to attack and win if we play anything like Tuesday I can't see welling coping with the pace. We possessso for the nbraver ones I wouldn't put u off a chester win

Re: Conference 31st January Re-Bristol Rovers being used as an example to promote Macclesfield as a value bet. Addpea do you rate Macclesfield as good as Bristol Rovers? If the answer is yes then your point is valid. If not it loses all relevance. I personally would rate Bristol Rovers at least a quarter of a goal superior to Macclesfield. I actually agree that Macclesfield look a shade too big this weekend but I don't support some of the rationale behind the tip.

But at this stage of the season you have to go on what the table says and Macclesfield look nailed on for the playoffs as do Bristol rovers, who I think would have been made favourites for today's game. My point was how is a team 2nd in the table such a big price against a mid table side. Bookies have been underestimating Macclesfield all season. Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

Again, agree with a bit of what you say - Macclesfield probably have been underestimated in the markets. However in the same breath, if we are to believe league tables West Ham are better than Liverpool, Aberdeen are the equals of Celtic and teams level on points at this stage would all go off pick'em at a neutral venue. That's simply not right.

I wouldn't know enough about those leagues to comment, but having had a look at the league on Thursday when doing my previews it was clear that Macclesfield would have to blow up pretty badly not to reach the play-offs. Their home form has been superb with only Grimsby beating them and then they went and won at Grimsby. They have also beaten league leaders Barnet at home this season so with not that much of the season left you do have to say at the moment they fully deserve their current league position and the bookies aren't pricing them up as the relegation favs they were at the start of the season. Alan Alger twitted the other day giving the league table based on games from the start of November and Macclesfield and Dover were the top 2 teams.

Re: Conference 31st January Not many have noticed Steve burr has said safety was first objective now that is pretty much assured he wants us to entertain and for the players ti enjoy themselves see where it takes us as next season is when we really hoping to push on if we can keep hold of most of these kids and add a few in summer fancy us as outsiders next season
