kevshat
After the recent Test series, South Africa and West Indies now don the coloured clothing for three T20 matches and five ODIs which will be competitive with the World Cup just over a month away now. Two decent limited overs sides should make for a decent series to watch. All eight matches are live on Sky in the UK. Schedule: [h=2]1st T20I: South Africa v West Indies at Cape Town - Jan 9, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT) [h=2]2nd T20I: South Africa v West Indies at Johannesburg - Jan 11, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT) [h=2]3rd T20I: South Africa v West Indies at Durban - Jan 14, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT) [h=2]1st ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Durban - Jan 16, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 13:30 local time (11:30 GMT) [h=2]2nd ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Johannesburg - Jan 18, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT) [h=2]3rd ODI: South Africa v West Indies at East London - Jan 21, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 13:30 local time (11:30 GMT) [h=2]4th ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Port Elizabeth - Jan 25, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT) [h=2]5th ODI: South Africa v West Indies at Centurion - Jan 28, 2015[/h] Match scheduled to begin at 13:30 local time (11:30 GMT)
kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series T20 Series preview: 4pts West Indies to win T20 Series 11/10 Paddy Power I’m surprised the West Indies are the outsiders for this series. Half their side have been playing T20 regularly for a while now with the likes of Sammy, Pollard and Russell coming in from the Big Bash while Chris Gayle played in the South African domestic competition which only finished a month or so ago. This isn’t the strongest side South Africa will ever have put out and they’re likely to be under pressure all the time so I have to take the Windies in this series. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 1st T20 preview: 4pts West Indies to win 1st T20 11/10 William Hill I see no reason not to take the West Indies in this match. I think the absence of the likes of Badree and Narine will ensure all three matches are high scoring in this series but if it is high scores you want them it is this West Indian side you want to be with because they can score very quickly and very big especially on these smaller South African grounds. At odds against it has to be the West Indies for me here. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 2nd T20 preview: 5pts Over 12.5 sixes 5/6 Titanbet As ever I can’t really bet on the result at The Wanderers although I do believe the West Indies are a big price but the simple fact is that this ground is nearly impossible to defend in the second innings even against a weakened South Africa side. One thing which is guaranteed is we are going to see sixes in this match and plenty of them and that is a guarantee even if Chris Gayle doesn’t get going. The line looks too low for this ground. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 3rd T20 preview: 4pts West Indies to win 3rd T20 5/6 Paddy Power On what we’ve seen so far in this series there is nothing to suggest the South African’s can contain this powerful West Indies batting line up and now that Faf du Plessis is sitting this game out you wonder if they can score the runs needed to at least be competitive let alone win the game. I’m unsure they can and even though the series is done 5/6 on the Windies looks good here. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series ODI series preview: 3pts South Africa to win 4-1 19/10 Bet365 It would be a real surprise if South Africa lose this series. The bigger question is how many will they win it by and I think it will be fairly comfortable. I’ll give the West Indies a game because Chris Gayle is sure to fire at some point or there could be a game which is rain affected which gives the Windies a better chance but I expect South Africa to largely dominate and they can prevail 4-1. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 1st ODI preview: 4pts Over 9.5 sixes 5/6 Ladbrokes One of the trends of the T20 series was the enormous amount of sixes that were hit and I don’t see that changing in the ODIs. Chris Gayle is likely to be back which should help with the six hitting while AB de Villiers complements that for South Africa. On the small boundaries in play at Kingsmead the ball should fly plenty of times throughout the 100 overs of this match. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 2nd ODI preview: 4pts Over 12.5 sixes 5/6 Ladbrokes There is rarely a game played on this ground where the ball doesn’t fly all over the place and I don’t expect this one to be any different. Over 460 runs were scored here in the T20 game last week and plenty more should follow here. Both sides are packing their line ups with batting and with bat expected to dominate the ball a 12.5 sixes line may not be high enough for this match. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 3rd ODI preview: 4pts M.Samuels' Performance Pts - 31&Over 5/6 Bet365 With the conditions expected to be slower and lower and spin likely to come more into play I am expecting Marlon Samuels to have a big game. Not only does he prefer these conditions with the bat but he will also come into play a little more with the ball so he should be a leading player for the West Indies here. His performance target looks very low at 31, especially as he made 40 with the bat alone in the last game so I like the overs here. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 4th ODI preview: 4pts M.van Wyk's Performance Pts - 34&Over 5/6 Bet365 Morne van Wyk has already filled his boots against this opposition when he scored a ton in the T20 match and there is no reason why he can’t go well in this match too. I fancy him to score a few runs but he should get plenty of catching chances with the way the wicket plays. It wouldn’t be a total surprise if a West Indies batsman walks past one from the spinners either so van Wyk’s performance total of 34pts looks perfectly achievable. kevshat
Re: South Africa vs West Indies - T20 Series & ODI Series 5th ODI preview: 5pts West Indies Most 6s 8/11 Skybet Take that AB de Villiers assault in Johannesburg out of the equation and the West Indies have hit the most sixes in every match in this series. With de Villiers being out of the way in this match I expect that trend to continue, especially on these short boundaries that every West Indian will be able to target. Hashim Amla isn’t a known six hitter and he’s likely to face a lot of the innings so even at 8/11 the Windies hitting the most sixes looks a great bet here.
