Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Still a bit early maybe but I do think Wolfsburg x Sporting Lisbon Over 2.5 + BTTS @ 2.10 (bet365) are good odds and I think it could go down to 2.00 or maybe 1.90. Both teams are attacking friendly and are missing important players in midfield. I'm reading that Sporting odds to qualify are overestimated but I disagree, I think it is about right and bookies recognize their good offensive power. Since the start of the season, Sporting has played over 40 matches and has only failed to score in 1 of them (loss against Vitória Guimaraes away on November, 0-3). They usually know how to score at least once and I expect that tomorrow. I know Wolfsburg are seriously talented upfront, with the likes of De Bruyne and now Schurrle leading the pack. Dost is in great form and both wing-backs are very attacking (Rodriguez and Vieirinha). They also are very strong on set pieces, but aerial ability from the centre-back and main striker and excellent set piece takers (Rodriguez and Naldo). However Luiz Gustavo and Guilavogui are out for this match and Arnold on not as agressive as them. A lot of space will open up on the centre of the midfield and if Sporting knows how to explore that, Wolfsburg will have much more trouble than expected. Plus we never know if Wolfsburg is really motivated for this one. German teams are known to take Europa League lightly, which is not the case of Portuguese teams, that take it very seriously. Sporting Lisbon is a bit off form at the moment after 6 consecutive wins for the championship. An unlucky draw 1-1 against current champions Benfica took them out of the title race, and on saturday they drew 1-1 once again against Belenenses. Belenenses is one of those teams that know how to shut up shop, and Sporting has a lot of trouble in disrupting tight deffensive affairs. But when team do open play against Sporting, they are good on the counter and should key players Nani and Carrillo up for it, both wing-backs will have a lot of trouble. Vieirinha and Rodriguez leave a lot of space behind that can be exploited by them. However, Wolfsburg are very strong upfront and even though Sporting has a good GK (even though Rui Patricio is a bit out of form) and good centre-backs, their wing-backs are not strong defensively and William Carvalho, the in-form player of the team atm is out for this one and will be surely missed. He secures the defensive line, great tackling abilities and very strong on short/long passing as well. Rossell will play instead of him but not so good. Lacks a bit of agression and aerial ability. I expect Sporting to be well on attack but not so good on defense as the attacking power of Wolfsburg is too much for them to handle should the germans be motivated. Should the germans be motivated and play what the know, most possible results are 2-1 and 3-1. Should Sporting play as good as they know and germans not so motivated, 1-1 is the most obvious. I also think Sporting could be good odds to qualify but I would never back them at current odds. I would wait after the first match and should they get a "positive" result except draw or win (loss by 1/2 goals with a goal scored ex: 2-1, 3-1 scoreline), I would back them to qualify. They are not in their best form at the moment in the championship but now that they are off the title race, Europa League gains another importance and players should be up for it.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Thursday previews: 3pts Young Boys vs Everton - Draw 12/5 Skybet This match may well be a tight game. Everton have proved tricky to beat on their travels in this competition this season and just a week ago they almost held Chelsea in the Premier League. Avoiding defeat seems to be much easier than forcing wins for Roberto Martinez’s side at the minute so this one could easily end a draw which I don’t think either side would mind too much. Young Boys will be pushing for a win but the draw looks value here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/young-boys-vs-everton-betting-tie-can-head-to-merseyside-all-square 3pts Celtic vs Inter Milan - Draw 5/2 Boylesports Celtic are up against it in this match but they are renowned for toppling giants at home on big European nights and I’m sure they will be inspired by the atmosphere once again. It is up to them to force the pace in this match because I’m sure Roberto Mancini would be more than happy to take a draw and get the tie back to Italy all square. With that in mind the draw could be the way to go here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/celtic-vs-inter-milan-betting-celtic-can-get-a-draw-amidst-memories-of-their-most-famous-night 4pts Liverpool (-1) to beat Besiktas 7/4 Skybet Besiktas were comfortably found out by Arsenal earlier in the season and I think Liverpool are slowly getting back to the side that can put teams away with comfort again and I expect them to do that here. Daniel Sturridge is a big influence on this Liverpool attack but with Raheem Sterling, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho in good form the home side have the tools to take a major step towards the next round. Besiktas are limited and should be comfortably beaten. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/liverpool-vs-besiktas-betting-liverpool-can-secure-a-significant-lead-to-take-to-turkey 4pts Tottenham vs Fiorentina - Both teams to score 4/5 Ladbrokes I think this could be one of the ties of the round. These two sides will both have an eye on winning this competition which should lead to a competitive couple of matches. Both have players in their side who know how to find the back of the net and both have a potentially leaky side to them so I fancy both sides to score in this match which could set the second leg up perfectly. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Villarreal 1x2 @ 1.6 and -1 @ 2 Villarreal rested their key players(Cheryshev and Vietto) in the defeat to Rayo last weekend so I expect them to be fresh for this game. Red Bull Salzburg has sold 2 of their key players in the Jan transfer window, Kamp to Dortmund and Alan to Guangzhou. Both combined for 35 goals this season for Salzburg in all competitions. While top scorer Jonathan Soriano is still with them but I think Villarreal quality should see them win this game.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Celtic are missing Lustig, Mulgrew and probably Commons with a hamstring problem that has kept him out the team for the last three games. This is not the Celtic team of a few years ago, they were played off the park by a Polish team at the start of the tournament. They will suffer a similar fate if Inter are motivated to go for the win.I will gladly take that chance with Bet 365 at odds of 6/4 for an Inter win.

Inter themselves are not the force they were so i think it will be close, either 1-0 or 1-1.

We'll have at least 6 changes from the team that started that game, and we were missing our most influential player and captain in Scott Brown. Inter at 6/4 may well be value, but I wouldn't look too much into a defeat from a Polish side at a neutral ground where the majority of those players won't be playing tonight. I agree with Kevshat, the draw looks attractive odds.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th LIVERPOOL – BESIKTAS Besiktas to win or draw at 2.68 @ Marathonbet Memories from 2007 awakes this fixture, when Liverpool had won Besiktas with the... unbelievable 8-0 for the group stage of Champions League. The things are different now, as the two teams seem to be of equal level. For this reason, it seems to me really high the odd for a possible win for Besiktas or a draw. Of course Liverpool is the favorite, as it plays in front of its fans, but the presence of Demba Ba is a permanent source of threat at the attack of the Turkish team. I think that Besiktas can make the damage, either by winning or by taking a valuable draw.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Liverpool - Besiktas The visitors have already given Arsenal ( Gunners went through 1-0 on aggregate) in the Champions League and Tottenham Hotspur ( took four group points from them) in this competition, a lot of problems this season and clearly match up well against English clubs and coach Slaven Bilic and key striker Demba Ba, love to play Premier League teams. Bilic has made no secret of his desire to coach in England and will see this as the prefect opportunity to get his CV out there once again. He has his team very well organised and difficult to score against, Spurs and the Gunners managed two goals between them over 360 minutes and they sit top of the domestic league, with an amazing road record of 27 points from a possible 30 . Priority for the Reds is a top four finish, having got back into contention, they cannot afford any dip in focus in the EPL and face a vital match in terms of those Champions League ambitions with a trip to Southampton on Sunday. Raheem Sterling faces a fitness test and even if close, dare they risk him this evening, Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva are out, Lazar Markovic suspended and there will surely be quite a bit of rotation. They have a long and wonderful European pedigree, but if we look at all three CL home starts this season... 0-3 Real Madrid, 1-1 Basle and a fortunate 2-1 defeat of Ludogorets there is not too much to get excited about there and their last five home starts in the EL, have seen dropped points to Young Boys, Braga and Udinese. Taking their opponent +1 ball would have only lost in one of those seven fixtures and won in five and I would suggest that Besiktas are better than at least five and possibly six of those teams. 1.5 units Besiktas +1 ball 2.0 asian line/Sportmarket.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Tottenham - Fiorentina The spurs want to take advantage of the ''White Hart Lane'' in order to travel in Italy and have the upper hand and even if they can to not be obliged to score there. The roster is full and they will play with the best possible line-up. Fiorentina is in excellent shape lately as they are unbeaten for 8 games and besides the loss of Cuadrado, V. Montella has a very talented group of players in his hands. Tottenham will have the first word as it concerns the attacks but Fiorentina will find the space to hit back in the counter attack so I expect to see some goals in this game Over 2.5 @ 1.89 Marathonbet

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Sevilla vs Borussia Monchengladbach – Win for Sevilla at 1.87 @ Marathonbet This is a game for the round of “32” of Europa League between Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach. Spanish side is the favorite, but the Germans are not going to be an easy task. Sevilla have lost three out of their last five league matches and despite a rough schedule and quality opponents, atmosphere in the dressing room is not at it’s best. Good news for Sevilla is that their upcoming fixture is played at home, where they have been superb this season. In the Europa League Group stages they won all 3 home games. Strong defense has been one of the main reasons for their excellent home record, because they just conceded one goal in those three games.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Anderlecht - Dynamo Anderlecht is not through their best time as they lost the chance to get closer to Club Brugge after the draw against Mechelen. They can complain about the referee but the truth is they waisted the first half by doing nothing. Mbemba and Conte got injured in the last game and wont play today. Dynamo is ofcourse a team with better quality and the fact that they passed through the group stage with 6/6 wins proves that, but they haven't play any official game since December 11. With Anderlecht not being in the best shape and without 2 important players and Dynamo without any competitive games for over 2 months I expect a slow tempo at least in the beggining of the game without any team taking many risks Draw at first half @ 2.05 Marathonbet

After last nights tips it would be good to hear simon borisofs thoughts on these games lol
Sorry but i will have to disappoint you this time.I don't bet on Euro League because teams seem to be not interested in it which usually leads to big changes in the squads and unexcpected outcomes. With important games coming ahead for Roma and the recent dip in the form i think it's worth opposing them, just for fun but no serious bets tonight.GL!

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th On Villarreal here, Salzburg owners Red Bull have indicated that they will be focusing on Germanys RB Leipzig in future as they are unable to keep good young players and managers in Austria as the league is uncompetitive. Sadio Mane, Kevin Kampl and Alan Carvalho were the three stars of the team under coach Roger Schmidt last season. All four have departed. Mane is at Southampton, Kampl, described this week as a huge loss by captain Jonatan Soriano, went to Borussia Dortmund for 15m. Alan has gone to China with Guangzhou Evergrande for the €3m per year wages. I didn't see them as a particuarly strong European side as their tactics were usually naive in the big matches. Villarreal are a solid home side and I would expect them to progress over the two legs, as someone above mentioned they rested a number of key players over the weekend and will look to win here to make the second leg more comfortable. Spanish sides normally do pretty well in the competition overall and I expect at least 1 representative to make the semi-finals. Villarreal -0.75AH - 1.7 - bet365 - 2 Points I'm going to look at some overall prices as well, will do it in here and copy to the outright section of the forum. There are rarely surprise teams that win the Europa League, our old favourites Benfica aren't in it this year unfortunately. Just looking at the semi-finalists for the past 3 seasons shows a bit of a trend to sides who would have been favoured to do well from this point of the competition. 2011/12 Final 1 X 2 Atl. Madrid - Ath Bilbao 3:0 2.41 3.34 2.93 09.05.2012 Semi-finals - 2nd leg 1 X 2 Ath Bilbao - Sporting 3:1 1.57 4.07 5.61 26.04.2012 Valencia - Atl. Madrid 0:1 2.01 3.58 3.54 26.04.2012 Semi-finals - 1st leg 1 X 2 Atl. Madrid - Valencia 4:2 2.02 3.44 3.63 19.04.2012 Sporting - Ath Bilbao 2:1 2.61 3.27 2.70 19.04.2012 2012/13 Final 1 X 2 Benfica - Chelsea 1:2 2.87 3.21 2.51 15.05.2013 Semi-finals - 2nd leg 1 X 2 Benfica - Fenerbahce 3:1 1.42 4.52 7.34 02.05.2013 Chelsea - Basel 3:1 1.52 4.23 6.27 02.05.2013 Semi-finals - 1st leg 1 X 2 Basel - Chelsea 1:2 2.72 3.29 2.58 25.04.2013 Fenerbahce - Benfica 1:0 2.99 3.29 2.39 25.04.2013 2013/14 Final 1 X 2 Sevilla - Benfica 1:0 PENS 3.14 3.22 2.36 14.05.2014 Semi-finals - 2nd leg 1 X 2 Juventus - Benfica 0:0 1.55 4.15 6.01 01.05.2014 Valencia - Sevilla 3:1 2.10 3.60 3.36 01.05.2014 Semi-finals - 1st leg 1 X 2 Benfica - Juventus 2:1 2.74 3.07 2.76 24.04.2014 Sevilla - Valencia 2:0 1.72 3.75 4.97 24.04.2014 Sevilla have a very good pedigree in the competition and look well placed to go well again. I always like Villarreal and they have the ability to raise their game against the better sides. Wolfsburg will be strongly tipped by others due to their fine form in the Bundesliga but I think they will be more focused on the league and their defence is too poor to consider them to win the comp. Liverpool and Spurs don't look particuarly strong and both will prioritise the league when it comes down to it, even with the winner gaining entry to the Champions League directly, Liverpool are coming strong but I can see them resting players for the league rather than the other way around. Don't like Roma, tons of injuries and players out of form, certainly wouldn't have them as favourites. Napoli look a better bet to me currently and are one of the best around in big home games. I'm left with a shortlist of Napoli, Sevilla, Villarreal and I'm going to add Zenit into the mix as well. Zenit are probably a bit left field but their starting line-up is first rate and they should stroll to the league title leaving them free to focus on this competition if they are able to get through. Villarreal - 19.0 - betinternet - 2 Points Napoli - 13.0 - bet365 - 2 Points Sevilla - 17.0 - betinternet - 2 Points Zent St Petersburg - 19.0 - betinternet - 2 Points

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Dnipro - Olympikos Olympiakos comes from Champions League where it was in a group with teams like Atletiko and Juve which won both of them in its home but since it didn't manage to take any points in away games finished 3rd and now plays in the "32" of Europa League. It's a team that plays very well in the attack and since they changed coach have improved also in the defense. Dnipro comes from a long pause since from early December they have only played friendly games and because of the situation in Ukraine today they'll be playing in a town 475 km away from their home. Olympiakos can make its first away win this season in Europe but because of the weather conditions that Greeks are not used to the game might not be so strong. ?Olympiakos (AH 0) @ 1.81 Marathonbet

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th It looks like i will be having a bet, just a single one, after all.It is the Draw between Villareal and Salzburg. It was mentioned above the ambitions of Salzburg owners to invest money and time on Leizpig instead of Salzburg.Despite all, they had a decent pre-season ,winning a few games against foreign clubs as well as a draw against Leipzig. The club has been left by a few major players but they remain competetive though. They are first in the Bundesliga and look like they won't give up on Euro league either.Villareal are actually not that strong at the minute.Yes,they may have rested some players against Valecano,a game they've lost, but the team's form cannot be turned on with a simple switch. The Spaniards were defeated twice by Barca for Copa Del Rey and before that they beat Granada at home in a game they could easily have lost.First, there was an own goal after which Granada tried to change something but lady luck didn't cover them. Then the home side scored a late 90+ goal to secure the win which was far from impressive.Their overall form is not that convincing either so i don't think the hw represents any value here.Salzburg have won 2 times 6 years ago which cannot mean something because the situaton in both camps was different then.If Villareal win the game i doubt they will cover any handicap and 1:0 is a very likely result.Anyway, struggling to find the value in the hw,i will place my bet on Draw @ 4.2 with medium stakes and a sporting play on 1:1 Correct score @ 7.50 with bet365.GL! 2:1

Mane is at Southampton, Kampl, described this week as a huge loss by captain Jonatan Soriano, went to Borussia Dortmund for 15m. Alan has gone to China with Guangzhou Evergrande for the €3m per year wages. I didn't see them as a particuarly strong European side as their tactics were usually naive in the big matches.[/quote'] I'm not surprised at that decision. I've seen a little of Salzburg this season, and they seem weaker than last season, although I think they have signed some decent players they don't seem to have the same cutting edge.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th Villarreal will win tonight, Salzburg as mentioned lost key-players and Villarreal solid at home and obviously the Spanish league on a totally different level than the Austrian league. Villarreal to win without conceding my pic, my money on 2-0. Solid home win. Also like the draw in Celtic-Inter, wouldn't surprise me with 0-0, 1-1 here. Celtic is not what they used to be and Inter would be very happy with lets say 1-1 here. Decent value on the X. Also like Fiorentina to score, and Sevilla to win, Good luck folks! Boggen

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th I can't disagree with Villareal, but I'm not sure if Salzburg are massively weaker. They signed the leading scorer in Austria, and he may not be as good as Alan, but then how decent can Alan actually be if he's going to China? Kampl seems a good player but otherwise I'm not sure how much weaker they are. Salzburg are having a good season and I'm not sure if it'll completely collapse because they've lost a couple of players? We'll see. Good luck to anyone involved.

Now they play away with a weaker squad to a team who have won 8/11 matches at home in Primera Division (loses coming to Barca, Real, Valencia) Very solid homewin. I also think there might be a quick goal for Villarreal, within the first 15-20 minutes. Best of luck guys! Cheers, Boggen

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th

Ffs that idiot Inter defender sticking his foot in and sent the ball straight to a Celtic player. How on earth did they throw that away. That is tough to take ffs.
We deserved that draw overall after gifting 3 goals by terrible errors. Good fight to come back and keep us in the tie.

Are you serious? Guangzhou Evergrande have some amazing Brazilian players, I would compare them to the Brazilian players of Shakhtar Donetsk. Along with Alan they signed Ricardo Goulart for 15 million euro, one of the best players in the Brazilian league in the last two seasons.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday February 19th I had Inter on the +0 AH @ 1.84. At 3-2 with 2 mins of extra time to go and they crap their pants for a 3rd time in defense to draw 3-3 ! Didn't lose money but feels exactly the same lol. Inter were superior technically and after 0-2 up after 20 mins and watching how sharp they were I thought the money was in the bank. An own goal and some stupid defending and they flush away all the good work they did. A good reminder that this Inter side aren't out of the woods yet, despite the steady improvement in performances.

How are they at home? Seen them against st ettiene in group stage and they were poor and the stadium looked quite empty, have they gotten better ? Inter still favs to go through but im glad we are still in the tie going into the 2nd leg.

The Villarreal game was a cracker, two sides going toe to toe. Villarreal should have scored at least one more after they went 2-1 up but Salzburg played well too and the tie is in the balance..the antepost bets certainly started well, all four won! :lol..means bugger all in the grand scheme of things but a nice start.
