Re: German Super Cup: Dortmund - Bayern Very good price on Borussia. The game is played in Dortmund, so they got home advantage. Bayern's stars who played at the WC missed practically the whole pre-season. According to reports in German media, Pep said they are not ready to play yet, so he will most likely play mainly with guys, who didn't participate in the World Cup. The expected lineup is: Starke - Javi Martinez, Badstuber, Alaba - Höjbjerg, Rode, Gaudino, Juan Bernat - Shaqiri, Pizarro - Lewandowski. It looks very weakened to me, especially in defense and in the midfield. Also, Pep is experimenting again - this time with scheme with 3 defenders. I am not sure it will be beneficial for Bayern at least in the beginning. Dortmund is still missing due to injuries some important players: Reus, Gundogan, Cuba, Sahin. However, they had much better and more intensive pre-season than Bayern, who had just few friendlies. Moreover, this game will be much more important for Dortmund, not only because they play at home, but also because they were without trophies last season. Bayern won 2-1 at home in 2011/12, Dortmund winning 4-2 also at home in 2012/13. A couple of things worth noting in last two Super Cup matches between these sides is: - In both matches a goal has been scored in minutes 1-10. - over 2.5 goals has landed - Robben + Reus have both scored 2 goals.(Both unavailable?) Dortmund have an appealing home record, losing just once in their last 8 home games(incl' one friendly) and that was to Bayern Munich, 0-2 AET. Also in their last 8 home matches, they have scored an average of 1.6 goals per game. Conceding an average of 0.88 against some top sides We all know Bayern were in outstanding form last year. They annihilated almost every side they came up against. Once the league was captured, they slacked off a little towards the end of the season, albeit you can justify for somany reasons – player fitness for WC, opportunity for youngsters,trialing of new tactics etc. Stats aren't going to tell us too much here. They have strengthened again during the pre season with notable arrivals in Robert Lewandowski and Pepe Reina. Head to Head in their last 5 matches in all comp's dating back to 2013 Dortmund W2 L3* –Scored 8, Conceded 9 Bayern W3* L2 –Scored 9, Conceded 8 - (*one fixture was a 0-0 draw which ended 0-2to Bayern AET) Over 2.5 goals landed in 4/5 matches. Both teams to score landed in 2/5 matches. Accumulated away team goals scored is 12 in 5 matches (2.4 per match) - This looks to be an absolutely cracking match, Lewandowski likely to start against his former club. My prediction: 2-2 & Lewandowski anytime scorer.
