Re: The Masters 2015

RICKIE FOWLER E/W 50/1 CORALS 1-5~ That price will be gone very soon way to big sure to be a lot' date=' lot shorter very soon, the way he's played the majors this year thats a fecking massive price in my world.[/quote'] Corals have halved this to 25's already. He played really well in the Majors this year and got me place money on all four twice @100/1 & twice @ 66's amazing value imo and although not as big for next years major's i did get very super e/w value IMO yesterday for three of them 50's for the Masters 33's for the British open both with corals and 40's for the US open with PP can't really understand why the bookies had him so high a price after his showings in Majors this year he look's sure to go well in them next year, yes he is up against the machine that is Rory Mcilroy but from an e/w point of view well worth a bet and i'm convinced he will pick up a major or two in his career next year may well see him grab one.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Just got 33's for Fowler for the USPGA at Corals thats a very decent e/w price in my book. He is only 9/2 to win a major next year which is piss poor. I think he has great chance of winning a major next year and am happy with early prices i've for each major as i feel they will go shorter. Ricki Fowler Masters 50/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5 US Open 40/1 PP 1/4 e/w 1-5 Open 33/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5 USPGA 33/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Last week i Backed Jordan Spieth e/w with corals in all the majors next year theses are the prices i got having won this weekend his masters price has been cut to 25's with corals but the other prices remain but i dont expect the prices to last. Will be a big, big player in the majors next year imo. Masters 40/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5 (now best priced 28's) US Open 40/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5 Open 40/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5 USPGA 50/1 Corals 1/4 e/w 1-5

[h=1]Predicting winners for the 2015 majors[/h] By Kyle Porter | Golf Writer

tumblr_nhcuydE72l1qem99po1_1280.jpg
Will Tiger Woods win a major in 2015? (Getty Images)
Any golf season always revolves around what happens at the four majors and/or the Ryder Cup. That's the sharp reality of golf, especially in 2015 when golfers will be extra picky, selecting the specific tournaments in which they will play with more precision than ever before. Even though it makes the other 48 weeks of the year seem less important, it sure does make those four major weeks feel like the only thing that matters in sports. The Masters always overtakes the sports news cycle and with the US Open at a first-time venue, the British Open at St. Andrews and the PGA Championship at famed Whistling Straits, it will be another season of tremendous major championship weeks. But what will happen? You would have had to search long and hard to find somebody this time last year who would have rationally picked Rory McIlroy to win two majors in 2014 and Bubba Watson to beat a child into submission on the back nine at Augusta -- much less a European to win the US Open by nearly double-digit strokes. Yet all of those things happened in 2014 and, strangely, none of them seemed out of place. I have no clue what 2015 has in store but here are my predictions for the majors anyway. Masters: Tiger Woods The hype will be too much for McIlroy to handle this year. I think the Ulsterman gets his career slam at some point, just not in 2015. Woods, though, he's finished outside the top six one time at Augusta since 2004. One time. He probably should have won the thing in 2013, too. Maybe he won't win it next year, but you can bet he'll at least be in the mix on the weekend. US Open: Henrik Stenson If the Swede doesn't get it done in 2015, I don't think it will ever happen. He finished T4 in 2014 at Pinehurst and the length of Chambers Bay will play into his long-iron-hitting hands. We went from 2001-13 without having a year in which every major winner was a repeat but that won't happen again in 2015 (unless McIlroy wins them all.) British Open: Rory McIlroy I'm concerned that it's almost too obvious. A wide open bomber's course and McIlroy swinging for his second straight Claret Jug. What am I missing? Last time the Open was at St. Andrews, McIlroy posted a second-round 80 (!) and still finished T3 -- a second-round 72 would have gotten him in a playoff and a 71 would have won him the tournament. Of all the golfers at all the tournaments in 2015, this is the one of which I'm most confident (which means he'll ultimately miss the cut). PGA Championship: Jason Day At some point you just sort of have to say that it can't not happen. I flat out refuse to believe that Day will go major-less over his entire career. In 2010 at Whistling Straits, Day shot a final-round 74 (which had nothing on Nick Watney's final-round 81) to finish four back of Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson, so he's had some history at this course. He'll tidy up the 2015 major season with two first-time winners and two legends taking home the hardware (or jackets).

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Here's my guess, predication, hopes, whatever you want to call it for the 2015 majors, what's yours? Masters: Spieth & Fowler to win it for the yanks slightly favour Fowler who has the more experience here. Hope i'm wrong but i think McIlroy will struggle to win it this year. Kaymer is 66's for this and of the european threat its him i like has e/w chances. US Open: Normal service to resume here and Mcilroy is the one to beat for me and i think Spieth will do what Flower did last year be in with a chance in every major going into the last day . British Open: Rory McIlroy will be all out to defend his crown and is the one to beat at a course that suits him also feel S. Lowry can go on from a brave effort last year has a definite e/w chance 150/1 is insult to him imo. Kaymer could also get involved in this one PGA Championship: Mcilroy could well be going for his 2nd or 3rd major by this time who knows but i think a yank can take it again Fowler & Spieth would be my choice along with D. Johnson who had a 2013 to forget with one thing and another i can see him bounce back and go close or even win a major in 2015. So for me 2015 majors will be dominated mainly by young golfers i don't see Tiger winning one nor Mickelson but can't wait to see what really unfolds.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Did anyone else read that preview and stop at the point where he predicts Tiger Woods :lol. I know a lot can happen in four months but right now there is NO chance of Woods winning The Masters. Classic put it out there prediction so I can say 'I still believed' should the near impossible happen.

I stopped reading before that Kev the bit where he said "You would have had to search long and hard to find somebody this time last year who would have rationally picked Rory McIlroy to win two majors in 2014" :cigar Seriously though its ridiculous that Woods is 2nd fav behind Mclroy in all four major for 2015.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Woods @ 16's for the Masters has to be the worst price in the history of golf, should be 80/1 - 100/1. People are still living in the past, Tiger didn't have the type of young guns such as McIlroy, Spieth etc to contend with back then, these lads are fearless and don't respect anyone.. You would think McIlroy will win at least one major anyways, whilst I think Dustin Johnson can have a good year if he has got his head sorted.

Clarke, the 2011 Open champion and a former mentor of the world No 1 Rory McIlroy, will soon learn that his job for the first few months basically consists of talking to the press about his young countryman. And straight off the bat, Clarke will show himself to be a leader of genuine prescience when he says that McIlroy will win the Masters, the first major of the season in April, and so make it three majors in a row following his victories at The Open and USPGA Championship in 2014. And now McIlroy will only have to win the US Open to follow Woods as the only player ever to hold all four major titles at the same time. Except it will be another Ulsterman, his great friend and Ryder Cup partner Graeme McDowell, who will win hissecond US Open. Northern Ireland will not know whether to party or commiserate, so will do both with equal success. And with Woods finishing third at his national championship, the build-up to the 144th Open will be one of the most hyped in memory. Jamie Donaldson will lift the Claret Jug. Well, golf is never predictable and no one can deny that Wales’s second major-winner is not fully deserving on the Old Course. This will make it three out of three for the UK in the 2015 majors, but in the USPGA at Whistling Straits, Phil Mickelson will win his sixth major, and the Stars and Stripes will flutter once more. Not for too long. At the Walker Cup at Royal Lytham, Great Britain and Ireland will regain the amateur equivalent of the Ryder Cup from the United States, while at the Solheim Cup, in the women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, Charley Hull, the ever-more impressive English starlet who by then will have finished second in two majors, will lead Europe to a glorious defence over America. All that will be left is the fight for the end- of-season spectaculars – FedEx Cup on the PGA Tour and the Race to Dubai on the European Tour, both of which McIlroy wins with ease. So McIlroy will finish the year as he started – as golf ’s undisputed best. But Woods will be showing signs that he is regaining his finest form. And so golf will take a breath.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Golf Central Blog [h=1]Punch Shot: Bold predictions for 2015[/h] [h=2]By[/h] Golf Channel Digital January 2, 2015, 8:00 am [TABLE=width: 0]

So we asked our writers for their bold predictions for 2015. Here's what they said: By REX HOGGARD Phil Mickelson will win the U.S. Open in June and complete the career Grand Slam. While it seems likely the bookmakers won’t share our optimism for Lefty’s Open chances considering his love/hate relationship with his national championship, it will be those less-than-stellar odds that finally deliver the Open title to Mickelson. While the flawless symmetry of the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, where he’d posted the first of six runner-up finishes at the championship in 1999, seemed poetically perfect for Mickelson’s breakthrough, the pressure proved to be too much for him and he finished 16 strokes off the pace. Mickelson will turn 45 two days before Round 1 at Chambers Bay. Only Hale Irwin – who is the oldest to win the U.S. Open (in 1990) at the age of 45 years, 15 days – has collected the title past his 45th birthday. But when the golf world arrives in the Pacific Northwest the spotlight, and the pressure, will have largely moved on to other points of interest. Without that scrutiny weighing on him, Mickelson, who dedicated himself to a new workout regimen in the offseason and said he plans to reexamine his schedule in order to peak during the majors, will finally collect a title that has painfully eluded him for 2 ½ decades.
By JASON SOBEL Making a bold prediction is sort of like Goldilocks rummaging through the house trying to find the perfect bed and the right bowl of porridge. Rory McIlroy will win a few tournaments? Not bold enough. Some no-name from Luxembourg will claim the green jacket? Whoa, that’s way too bold. You’ve got to find a happy medium that is bold enough to raise some eyebrows and yet not so bold that it’s an outlandish suggestion. All of which leads to mine for the 2015 campaign: The International team will win the Presidents Cup. Finally. I’m basing this on nothing but the law of averages. This biennial competition has been contested 10 times previously and the “rest of the world not including Europe” squad has won just one of 'em. This time, though, there should be enough firepower to beat what should be another strong U.S. roster in South Korea. Nick Price’s lineup will once again be led by Adam Scott and Jason Day;Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen have become stalwarts; and Graham DeLaet and Hideki Matsuyama could each be top-10 players by next autumn. The struggle, as usual for the International side, will be filling out the bottom half of its batting order. Just as the U.S. Ryder Cup team needed a jolt of enthusiasm from rookies Patrick Reed andJordan Spieth, they could use an infusion of energy from the likes of Anirban Lahiri, Matt Jonesand Carlos Ortiz; granted, none have the talent of Reed and Spieth, but the formula should be analogous. Don’t fret for the U.S. side, though. Even if it loses for the second time ever, there’s always time to create a task force before the next one.
By RYAN LAVNER Dustin Johnson wins twice in 2015. DJ hasn’t played on the PGA Tour since August, when he took a self-imposed leave of absence to deal with “personal challenges.” He figures to return sometime in February, and by all accounts he’s stayed sharp with his game and rededicated himself to his craft. That should be bad news for the rest of the PGA Tour, because despite his “personal challenges” Johnson has been one of the most consistent players in the world – he’s won at least once every year since turning pro in 2007. With better decision-making both on and off the course, Johnson might finally be able to maximize his awesome talent. I bet that process begins this year.
By RANDALL MELL Michelle Wie wins two majors. There was so much to like in Wie’s game in 2014, from her renewed confidence in her driver to her career best scoring average and putting stats, but what you had to like most was the look in her eyes. She was in no way content winning twice, with one of those her first major championship, the U.S. Women’s Open. Watching with her confidence coming back, you see the ambition in her eyes again. You see a player who at times looks like she wants to plow through the field to get to a trophy. And you hear a player talking openly about wanting to be No. 1 in the world. Wie’s “table-top” putting stroke may look odd, but it held up at Pinehurst No. 2, in a U.S. Women’s Open, where the nerviest putts in the world have to be holed to win. She has the game, confidence and drive to keep winning big events this year.
By WILL GRAY Ernie Els will win again on the PGA Tour. The Big Easy is 45, but there’s still plenty of gas left in his tank. While Els hasn’t garnered many headlines since his win at the Open in 2012, he has had plenty of time to adjust to some new equipment, including a new putter in advance of the 2016 anchoring ban. Now 63rd in the Official World Golf Ranking, Els is coming off a season that included only three top-10 finishes, and the globetrotter will likely continue to split time between the U.S. and Europe. But with 19 PGA Tour wins, Els doesn’t need a lot of starts to have a chance to contend, nor will he feel uncomfortable with his name on the leaderboard come Sunday. The putter has been the issue for Els in recent years, but his tee-to-green game is still good enough to contend with some of the game’s best. At some point this year, the flat stick will get hot and Els will lift a trophy on U.S. soil for the first time since March 2010.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015

Woods @ 16's for the Masters has to be the worst price in the history of golf, should be 80/1 - 100/1.
I never thought I'd hear you say good things about DJ. But I guess you already freaked me out when you tipped Tringale. But I agree completely about Dustin. The break and also fatherhood could bring about a profound change. Obviously can work either way but I definitely have my eye on him for a major this year. Would tend to think that the PGA might be the best chance. Certainly would crown a redemption year given the venue. As for Fowler, I'm really put off backing him and just can't unless the price gets ridiculous. For all his top finishes this is a guy who has only ever won once on the PGA in 5 years. For mine he needs to win more and learn how to close out tournaments.

Well mentally, DJ wasn't in a good place for a couple of years, it was easy to tell. It is old news that he had a drug habit, and that's not the sort of state you want to be in if you want to win majors, and that is why I was against him for so long.. IF he has sorted his head out, he has the talent to win a few tournaments this year, but I still think he is a long way off a major.

I know what your saying Crouch and it makes a lot of sense but i feel these young lads want to win majors all other tournaments are secondary and are used as preps and what fowler achieved with his placing in all four major was no mean feat imo and i think its only only a matter of time before he closes one out and if he does win a major he may even win more consistently on the tour like Rory, a lot of people thought McIlroy was over hyped for the amount he had won or the lack of wins in the early days. Fowlers prices are still not that bad imo for next years majors 25/1 2@28/1 & 33/1 i think he can take one next year.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 WOW how good does McIlroy look at present, if he brings this form to the majors he can win two or three of them even a clean sweep isn't out the question. He's different gravy at the present moment hope the pending court case doesn't have an effect on his golf don't think it will. well hope not.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 OK have another anti-post bet in the majors and its Ulsterman Graeme McDowell currently joint leader in the Malaysian open he has started 2015 really well hitting the ball sweetly great opening effort last week has put a lot of practise in over the closed months so wants to win another Major in his career and i feel its not beyond him every thing is good in his family life a very settled man so this could be his yeat to strike again. I don't fancy him for the Masters as i feel strongly a yank will win that so have not bet on him in that but have taken him e/w in the US OPEN 66/1 PP USPGA 80/1 Corals (thats massive and wont last) and the one i feel his best chance of winning this year the BRITISH OPEN 50/1 Corals. Cant wait for the Majors to start so really looking forward to them:)

[b']Predicting winners for the 2015 majors By Kyle Porter | Golf Writer

Masters: Tiger Woods
:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol. This looked stupid the first time I saw it. Looked absolutely ridiculous now :loon

[h=1]Tiger Woods takes indefinite break with his game 'unacceptable'[/h] Tiger Woods is taking an indefinite break from golf, saying his game is "unacceptable for tournament play". Woods, 39, withdrew injured from last week's event at Torrey Pines after just 12 holes, having missed the cut at the Phoenix Open the week before. "I need a lot of work on my game and to spend time with people that are important to me," said the American. "I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level. When I think I'm ready, I'll be back."

Woods plays from the rough with an awkward stance as he cards the worst round of his professional career in Phoenix

Woods, a former world number one who has won 14 majors, has withdrawn from three of his last eight competitive tournaments. In missing the cut in Arizona last month, he recorded the worst round of his professional career with an 11-over-par 82 in the second round. Finishing last in a field of 132, Woods said: "I've got to keep this in perspective. Sometimes that's hard to do." -----------------------------

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 Another and most likely the last anti~ post bet for me in the British Open LEE WESTWOO 66/1 e/w should have won it a couple of years ago i had him well backed then just a small bet this time around as he struggles to win when the pressure is really on but if he is ever going to close a major out it will be the british open imo its his best chance of winning a major.

Re: Golf Majors Thread 2015 NARTIN KAYMER has drifted to 80's for The Masters with PP who are paying 6 place has to be an e/w play for me at that price can bounce back to form and needs to if he's going to be in the mix but the German knows what it takes to win majors when you see the likes of Westwood at 50's for this 80's for Kaymer is very, very attractive imo.
