Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st Metalist Kharkiv to beat Ruch Chorzow @1.9 There are a few points that made me decide to put high stakes in the Ukrainian side: - market value of the teams - Metalist Kharkiv id worth 10 times more (70m) than Ruch (7m) - current form of the hosts - they have not won a single football match in the league this season. Interestingly, in EL qualifiers they managed only 1 win, and yet they progressed to the 4th qualifying round, beating FC Vaduz and Esbjerg. Metalist lost the last two games, but they had Shakther Dontesk and Dinamo Kiev as opponents, so teams far better than their next EL rivals - venue - Ruch does not play on its own ground (poor condition of the pitch after summer adjustments) and the game will be held in Gliwice instead - not far away, but still that's not the home ground for the hosts - approach: Metalist will be motivated to get to the group stages (last year they beat Dinamo Bucharest 4-1 on aggregate in play offs, having one the first game away from home with a 2-0 scoreline), while Ruch already has done more, than it was expected. Their main focus will be the league this season, they simply do not have the depth in squad to compete on more than 1 competition This one should be an away win, maybe even HT/FT @3.1

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st I feel the price is about right...two-legged football is always a minefield as the first leg is only half-time of course. I personally think Kharkiv will win but its a "no bet" for me. Kharkiv have a much more in-depth and valuable squad and like all the Ukrainian teams they have a heap of Brazilians and Africans. I saw Ruch live last week v Wisla, a squad of entirely Polish players (there are a couple of exceptions in the squad) they were limited but very organised. They played entirely on the counter with 2 banks of four on the edge of the box most of the game and both their goals came from quick breaks. They got through in the last round with a 95th min equaliser v Esbjerg but had dominated the first leg. Their last two rounds were also played in Gliwice. Good luck

I saw most of the second half of that game in the last round - Esbjerg v Ruch. I think the final score was 2-2. The first leg in Poland had been 0-0, so Ruch went through on away goals. Apparently Ruch had dominated the first leg, but it had ended 0-0. In the second leg, Esbjerg had nearly all the possession and chances as far as I could see, and they missed some good chances. Ruch seemed happy to defend when it was 1-1, and they made occasional but ineffective breaks. Esbjerg should probably have won about 3-1, and I wouldn't be surprised if Metalist win here. But Ruch are stronger at home I think - the 2-legged nature of the ties makes it trickier to judge bets and odds.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st A good assessment. Ruch won 1-0 at Gliwice yesterday so they have played there 3 times undefeated in a month. Kharkiv are West Brom and Ruch are Charlton...1.9 is about right.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st I know that there is a big diference betwen France and Romanian league but game betwen OL and Astra should be interesting. OL is not the same team few years back when they played few years in a row Quarter final in CL.They have decent team but in France they should finish betwen 3-5 place. On the other hand Astra is maybe best team in Romania this year they are playing attacking football and I am expecting them to score in France. In previous round even Mlada Bolesov score one in France so in this game I wiil go BTTS YES @2.15 local bookies. GL

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st Ruch's priority is the league? No, they want to play in europe. As most Polish teams they are broke and have no money so this extra money is vital, its a team of very average Polish players but they have a really good coach in Kocian who is from Slovakia, they are very well organised and fight for every ball. If this was the Metalist of a year or so ago before their problems off the field then I would say a sure away win but they've lost allot of quality players and something tells me this may be Ruch's year to make the group stage given the way their last rounds have played out. Also I don't think the venue is that much of a big deal, Gliwice is like 20 minutes from Chorzow and Ruch always brings many fans to Gliwice, at the weekend there was 1400 and away sector is only 1000 so 400 on home sectors.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st What are the thoughts here on AEL v Spurs? AEL at home to Zenit lost the shots on target 0-5 but won 1-0 in a very lucky match for them, lost 3-0 in Russia, and find themselves here. They haven't started the Cyprian league yet and Spurs have a deep squad. I can see Spurs running things here but how hard will Pochettino push for a win here? Does he want to get the tie out of the way? Does he even want to be in it? What's the approach? Motivation factor is everything here.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st Stjarnan v Inter The home side beat Lech Poznan 1-0 holding on for a 0-0 in Poland here are the stats from those 2 matches... (Home sides on left and visitors on right) In Iceland: Corners 2-16 Shots on target 3-9 wide 2-7 possession 35-65 In Poland 13-2 8-2 11-4 65-35 It seems they've used up every last drop of fortune here. Inter have strengthened on last season bringing in Vidic, Osvaldo, Medel and Schelotto from Parma. Only obstacles I see is fitness as the home side is well into their season and leading the league by 3 points after 15 matches. Also Split in Croatia are a very average side yet Bet Victor is offering 1.60 for a Torino victory. Could be value. Am still in the early stages of looking at these matches. Would appreciate any opinions.

Apart from the question whether bigger English clubs like Spurs want to be in the Europa League, I think it's hard to assess a single leg of a two-legged tie. If you think that Spurs DO want to be in the competition, then the number one aim is to qualify for the next round - but the tie is over two legs - it's tricky. Easier for the second leg though.

Just to add on from MPLouis, the Europa League winner will gain an automatic berth into Champions League next season. Granted, it's not easy to win this cup, with plenty of strong teams such as Fiorentina, Sevilla, Inter, Everton, Villarreal, Sociedad, Lyon etc, not forgetting those Champions League group stage dropouts, but this Cup should have a higher importance to any team, compared to last year. Also, Spurs can also field a strong team, if you are to exclude the 10 players who played the whole league game against West Ham, Spurs can still field the following starting 11: Vorm/Friedal, Naughton/Fryers, Davies, Chiriches, Vertonghen/Dawson, Sandro, Paulinho/Dembele, Townsend, Chadli, Holtby, Soldado/Kane The lineup should be decent enough to match a -1AH. Note to above: I'm a Spurs fan, hence take the above with a pinch of salt.

Will do,:ok I saw the -1 AH @ 1.75 Marathon Bet. How likely do you think that is? The first leg leads into the QPR match whereas the second leads up to the Liverpool match so arguably an incentive there to put a bit of a stronger line up out in the 1st leg

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st On the question of wanting to be in the competition, I know English clubs have often been unenthusiastic about the Europa League - Tottenham under Harry Redknapp springs to mind, also Stoke under Tony Pulis. The only exception I can think of was Fulham under Roy Hodgson - they got to the final one year. But I wonder if foreign managers like Pochettino might be more interested in the Europa League than British managers?

No idea on Stoke though; they were 10th at the point of time, 9 points from relegation, 8pts from 7th & 15pts from 4th. They were down 0-1 to Valencia & would have been playing away, though that would have been their 42nd game of the season & 3rd match in 7 days. Pulis has been treating their European adventures seriously until that away game which knocked them out.

Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 21st Rijeka - Sheriff Rijeka will probably play in 4-4-2 formation: Vargic-Tomecak, Samardzic, Leskovic, Leovac-Kvrzic, Brezovec, Jajalo, Jugovic (Sharbini)-Kramaric, Krstanovic (Jahovic). Rijeka with 15 wins in a row (official matches, including finish of the last season) is playing great. The team is well organised, well balanced and the players are well coordinated. Also, the mentality brought by coach Kek is german. They play with confidence, the players play for each other, like a real team, there's no stars. Physically, they are prepared very good, they crush the opponents in (weak) CRO league. The team has some small problems with the injured players, but those players are off the pitch several months (Mocinic, Males, Knezevic...). The players are rested. I must point put one player: Kramaric. He will be on national team list for sure. For me, he's the best attacker that Croatia has after Mandzukic. He is Dinamo Zagreb ex-youth player. One big thing to consider: Samardzic, ex Sheriff player and captain (4 years in Sheriff) is a new Rijeka's player. He signed 40 days ago. He really can tell what are the defincies in Moldovian team. Sheriff? I don't know much about them. 12 Brazilians, Portuguese players, with very few domestic. Their statistic this season is not good: 2-1-1 in domestic league, 5-4 goal difference, 2 victories in CL qualifications vs Sutjeska (Montenegro) before they've been kicked out vs Slovan Bratislava. I will try do estimate their quality: in the last years they played 3 times vs Dinamo Zagreb: 2 times they were easily kicked out and one time they manage to pass. But, that Dinamo was weak. Why? That summer Dinamo suffered the last defeat at home in HNL - Rijeka beat them and coach Zajec has been sacked. They lost the best player this summer, just few days ago, Henrique Luvannor (he was pronounced the best player in Moldavian league for the last season). Also, they will play without Blanco who has given a red card vs Slovan. Interesting thing: few days ago Zoran Zekic was installed as coach (ex youth squad Sheriff coach). Who is he? He's ex Rijeka's attacker (only 1 goal in many matches :D). So... Rijeka in front of their crowd, stadium will be full or near full, in great moment vs Sheriff who is not playing very well but has very good players (from Vitoria or Braga for example). Sheriff has more european experience but also has Rijeka, both teams played in the EL groups last year. Weather? The prognose is not good, it will heavily rain at Thursday but when the match starts the rain should stop. As a Rijeka's fan I tried to give you the most objective impression I could ;).

I watch this guy and he is beast. He score 9 in first 5 rounds in Croatian League. One very important thing for game Dnipro-Hajduk. Dnipro captain and best player Konoplanka is injured and will miss both games against Hajduk. Also Guliano left club and Mathaus is injured. This 3 players last year scored 27 goals out of 59 and they had 16 assistens. If they would play I would back Dnipro with high stake but now I am not really sure.

Great first post. I'm on Rijeka although I'm kicking myself I didn't get on yesterday when they were 1.72 for the straight win, price has dropped like a stone across the board.

Simple fact is the England sides play way too many games as it is, Premiership, League Cup, FA Cup then add in Europe and it's very difficult to compete in all competitions and get into the top 4 if you have a squad like Spurs. I expect them to qualify for the group stage and again they will be facing 60+ games this season! No chance they will finish in the top 4 (that is always the target for the season) with that kind of schedule.

Re: UEFA Europa League > August 20th & 21st Hello, I'm from Saint-Etienne. After the disaster of last year against Ejsberg, Saint-Etienne will do all they can to go to group stages. And Thursday, they will field their best team. They begin the championship with two convincing wins, scoring 5 goals. Erding is on fire with 3 goals. He will play upfront and is very motivated to score against a turkish team. van Wolfswinkel should be on the bench. I don't know if Saint-Etienne will win, but they are 100 % focused on this match. And only one player (Monnet-Paquet) of the eleven probably starters wasn't in the team of last year, players knows all to play together, no problem with usual difficulties when the season start. Probably team : Ruffier - Perrin, Saal, Hamouma, Tabanou - Lemoine, Clément, Cohade - Monnet-Paquet, Gradel, Erding. Subs : Moulin, Théophile Catherine, Nyemeck, Diomandé, van Wolfswinkel. As it's very difficult to know the real difference of quality between this two teams, i think to bet small on Saint-Etienne @1.95 Pinnacle. No value but good odds anyway for a very motivated side. Have good bets and sorry for my english...

Today was a fight betwen Trabzon coach Halihodzic and one of best player Malouda,it may result in game tomorrow against Rostov. Sent from my XT615 using PL Forum
yes they fought and , they were gonna punch each other but others separated them and now Trabzonspor will sue Maluda because of his attitude , he is getting 2,5 milyon euro a year but doing nothing , escaping from city time to time, no discipline at all, he has mentality problems, he is not professional. Trabzonspor completely changed whole team, and Vahid Halilhodziç said , team needs time, i dont know what to do for rostov, they are a good team and i cant promise anything but starting 11 is really strong, cardozo, kevin constant, sefa, medjani, ishak. they are all available. best option is live betting, anything can happen .

Re: UEFA Europa League > August 20th & 21st I thought of placing a bet on Rostov DNB, but now I see that Trabzon's squad has impoved massively + they have a great coach in Halilhodzic. It would be a very interesting coaching duel between him and Bozivic, who is one of the best coaches in the Russian Premier League. Real Sociedad and Krasnodar have an attacking mentallity and BTTS looks good. Real Sociedad are probably slighty better and are at home, but Krasnodar are a few weeks into their season and are in amazing form. Petrolul Ploesti eliminated Victoria Plzen in the last round, a very good performer in European tournaments in recent seasons. Petrolul have a good coach in the face of Razvan Lucescu, former Romania NT coach. The only reason why Zoran Mamic is the coach of Dinamo is because he is the brother of the club's owner. Last season at home Petrolul beat Swansea and drew with Vitesse. They have yet to be defeated at home in European competition. Dinamo seemed very demotivated in last season's Europa League after being knocked out from the Champions League. They were knocked out from the Champions League again this season. A win for the yellow wolves.

Trabzonspor has problems in midfield but Kevin Constant available , its a big boost for the team because they removed Maluda and added kevin constant instead (because of the fight) which is good news. tomorrow will be their first official game , mind you that they havent won any single friendly game before (trabzonspor)

Re: UEFA Europa League > August 20th & 21st Dinamo Minsk-Nacional Madeira I am looking at the stats and i can't see this game being any different than under 2.5.Dinamo eliminated MYPA 3:0 on aggregate(1:0 and 2:0),Cluj(1:0 and 2:0).Dinamo is very strong home team. They have won 9 out of 10 at home. They have conceded 8 goals in 21 games.Their only defeat on home soil is against BATE when they gave up the 1st position.Nacional lost their first game of the season at home to Moreirense(0:1).Nacional used to take most of their points at home last season and when they were on the road they parked the bus waiting.Dinamo should be in better condition given the fact that their new season had started a month ago. Both teams rely mostly on their defences. The stake is big here because both teams are not one of the wealthiest in the world. Under 2.5 @ 1.6 with bet365 high stake and a small play on 1:0&under 2.5 @ 4.5 all with bet365.

Just to add something from a different POV on this one... Dinamo (Z) players are almost twice the worth of Petrolul squad. It doesn't say much, but there is a difference in class. If AaB didn't played shockingly good in Zagreb - Dinamo would be now in the Champions League play-offs. Petrolul is a level below. A. Mutu, the star player of Petrolul is 35 and really not in the form of his life. Also, he is maybe moving to Fiorentina so maybe his mind won't be in this match. The things moving the scale in Petrolul's advantage are a sold-out stadium and the 2:0 win in friendly match two months ago. Petrolul may have the advantage in the first leg, but the price of 2.2 is rather short, all things considered.
