kevshat
The latest T20 league begins again on Friday evening when the improving CPL gets going. This year the matches are at better times for those of us in the UK and are all live on BT Sport in the UK. A decent selection of overseas players and the Caribbean flair should make this a decent enough watch. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Tournament preview: 3pts Guyana Amazon Warriors to win CPL 2014 3/1 Coral The side I like this season happen to be the favourites in the Guyana Amazon Warriors. They have a very useful bowling attack which contains captain Sunil Narine, Mohammad Hafeez and Krishmar Santokie among others while Lendl Simmons, Hafeez, Martin Guptill and Christopher Barnwell give their batting a strong look. With Narine notoriously tough to get away at this level and Santokie one of the best bowlers in this format the Amazon Warriors look the team to beat to me even at 3/1. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Game 1 preview: 4pts Guyana Most 6s 11/10 Skybet I think Guyana are the better side of the two in this match and I think they will show that not just by winning the match but by hitting the most sixes and it is the latter I’m going to take as a bet. In Guptill, Neesham, Simmons and Barnwell there’s a decent six hitting core for the Warriors whereas if Hussey and Samuels don’t get going Antigua may not so I like the odds against on Guyana here. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Saturday previews: 4pts Trinidad & Tobago to beat Barbados 5/6 Betfair Admittedly it would be much better for the Red Steel is Dwayne Bravo plays but they have enough bits and pieces players to make up for his absence. They have a very good looking bowling attack too and if the likes of Darren Bravo and Ross Taylor can go big with the bat then they are going to be hard to beat. Barbados have plenty of fire with the bat but I’m not so convinced they have the bowling so I’ll go with the Red Steel here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trinidad--tobago-vs-barbados-betting-red-steel-can-get-off-to-winning-start 4pts Jamaica to beat St Lucia 11/10 Ladbrokes Jamaica look to have a decent side with bat and ball and I like their chances in this match. The likes of Vettori and Miller should tie the batsmen down while Andre Russell and Rusty Theron can be the wicket takers. St Lucia have a solid looking attack but if their main two of Charles and Fletcher don’t get going I wonder where the solid runs are coming from so that leads me to side with the champions. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Thursday previews: 4pts Antigua vs Jamaica - Over 9.5 sixes 4/5 Skybet I don’t really see the point of speculating on the match outcome here because the sixes line looks very low. The wicket in Antigua usually suits the batsmen and I see no reason why in the middle of the afternoon local time that this one won’t either. There’s some massive hitters of a cricket ball on either side here and if any of them get going this line will look miniscule so I’m happy to take the overs here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/antigua-vs-jamaica-betting-expect-the-sixes-to-flow-in-antigua 3pts Guyana vs T&T - No fifty in match 12/5 Bet365 This has the makings of a really good battle and I think the ball may well dominate the bat in it. Both sides have excellent bowling attacks, attacks which can flourish regardless of the conditions so with that in mind I’m not expecting a high scoring match here. Neither side conceded a 50 in the first game and I’m not sure we’ll see one here either, at least not in the first innings anyway. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Saturday previews: 4pts Barbados Most 6s vs Antigua 11/10 Paddy Power I like Barbados here and I think they will dominate this match. This Antigua batting line up looks in poor nick and they’re up against a top bowling attack in this match. Barbados are good with the bat too and I think with the likes of Dwayne Smith and Kieron Pollard among others blasting away they can hit the most sixes in this match. Antigua were bowled out for 96 last time out so it is natural for them to be cautious and that can go against them. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/antigua-vs-barbados-betting-barbados-can-belt-the-most-sixes-in-antigua 4pts S.Narine's Performance Pts - 35&Over 5/6 Bet365 I expect Guyana to win this match and if they do one man who is likely to have starred for them is the classy spinner Sunil Narine. He stole the show in their last match when he bowled a wicket maiden in the super over and that came after bowling four overs for just three runs in their opening match. Clearly he’s too good for this level and I expect him to snaffle a couple of wickets here and cover a performance total of 35pts. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Sunday previews: 4pts Red Steel to beat Antigua 4/5 Winner Sports I think the Red Steel are a great bet here. It is always hard to pick up the pieces the day after a game. The adrenalin goes and emotionally you’re tired and we often see strange results whenever back to back matches are played in this format. Forget the fact Antigua played on Saturday though, the Red Steel look the better side anyway and I have them to win this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/antigua-vs-red-steel-betting-the-side-from-trinidad-look-too-good-in-sunday-s-opener 4pts Guyana to beat Jamaica 4/5 Paddy Power This is an interesting match. Guyana’s bowling attack looks the business, or has done so far in the tournament and it will be interesting to see if Chris Gayle’s presence changes that. I’m not convinced it will and even if it does Gayle isn’t running too well so Jamaica could lose a few crucial runs while Gayle is at the crease. Backing up a game a day after is Guyana’s biggest problem but they were always in control on Saturday and I’m hoping and expecting them to have enough left to win this. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Wednesday preview: 4pts Barbados vs St Lucia - Over 10.5 sixes 5/6 William Hill Wickets in this tournament haven’t always been the greatest but the one at the Kensington Oval in Barbados usually plays very well so I would expect to see a lot of clean hitting in this match and a lot of sixes to go with it. There is certainly the personnel on both sides to clear the boundaries with ease and the batsmen should really enjoy the ball coming on to the bat a little bit more so I like over 10.5 sixes here. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Thursday preview: 4pts Guyana to beat Red Steel 10/11 Ladbrokes If this is as good as the reverse fixture this will be a cracking match but I’m not expecting Guyana to make it so tight here. Their bowling attack is a brilliant one for all conditions and I think they can lead their side to the victory. The Red Steel aren’t too shabby in the bowling department but they’re not quite as good as Guyana and with Sunil Narine the trump card the Amazon Warriors can get home here. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Friday preview: 4pts Barbados Most 6s vs Antigua Evs Skybet It would be a surprise if Barbados don’t win the game but with Saeed Ajmal in their ranks this might not be the time to take on Antigua. One bet which does look good though is for Barbados to crack the most sixes. They have plenty of big hitters in their ranks whereas Antigua only really have Marlon Samuels who can destroy attacks on his own. Skybet are massively out at even money on Barbados in this market but I’ll take it. Tripcore
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Lots of power hitters in this Barbados vs Antigua match. Pollard, D.Smith, Samuels, Hussey or Malik can hit a few sixes if they have their day. A few days ago Smith scored a century with 8 sixes and there were a total of 16 sixes in the match. Even Holder and Rampaul can hit a six, so i think there is plenty of potential in this batting line ups to think about Over 11.5 sixes WilliamHill. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Saturday previews: 4pts Red Steel to beat Jamaica Evs Bet365 I see no reason why the Red Steel can’t win this game unless they let Chris Gayle get away from them. If that happens they will be in trouble but if they keep him quiet then they have the better bowling attack and much the better batting line up to do enough damage to win this game. Red Steel are going along nicely at the minute and at even money they’re worth a punt here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/red-steel-vs-jamaica-betting-red-steel-can-continue-their-good-run 4pts Guyana to beat Barbados 10/11 Skybet Although they’ve lost a couple I still think the Amazon Warriors are the better side of these two and they can show that in this match with or without Narine. They won’t come up against a top batting line up here and the Tridents only have a so so bowling attack. For me there is no doubt that Guyana have the better prospects of these two and they can win this at 10/11. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Sunday preview: 5pts Red Steel vs St Lucia - Over 10.5 sixes 8/11 Paddy Power I would expect the Red Steel to win this but I’m always wary of taking sides backing up matches after the day before so I think I’ll stick to the sixes in this one where the 10.5 sixes line looks woefully too low. The Red Steel can cover this on their own but while the Zouks have been useless so far this season they can dish out the maximums so I expect plenty here. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Thursday previews: 3pts Antigua to beat Jamaica 9/4 Boylesports Jamaica are plenty short enough in this match but if Antigua can get rid of Chris Gayle early enough then they could well take control of the game. The fear would be if Samuels gets out early but he’s in good nick at the minute and it is worth taking them to edge this one. They probably have the stronger bowling attack and there isn’t a huge amount between their batting line ups to suggest Antigua should be this price. He can’t always so it so Barbados can outhit them here. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Thursday previews: 4pts M.Hafeez's Performance Pts - Under 45 5/6 Bet365 It is hard to see Antigua being too competitive here based on the fact they’re actually getting worse if that was possible and with that in mind Guyana look good things but they’re pretty short. One thing which isn’t short is Mohammad Hafeez’s performance total at 45. He’s only passed 30 once in the tournament and although he’ll bowl given that these wickets are hosting a lot of cricket in the next 10 days I expect them to play well to begin with so Hafeez’s bowling may not have the impact he’d like. He may not be chasing many if Guyana bat second so that total looks too high to me. This Red Steel attack is not easy to hit and the Barbados batting line up isn’t really firing as one. Nearly all of the Red Steel batting can clear any rope in the world and they are regular six hitters. One or two Barbados players bowl a hittable length which makes the even money on the Red Steel hitting the most sixes look big. Doc1
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 A bit late I know but the ground for the Red Steel v Tridents game looks tiny. Great pitch too judging by the first game, with 13 6's in the first innings alone! So the over 12.5 6's at will hill 5/6 looks a very good bet. Doc1
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Should have coasted home but red steel imploded picking out the men on the boundary for fun.
kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Saturday previews: 4pts Jamaica vs St Lucia - Over 14.5 sixes 9/10 Unibet I would expect Jamaica to win this but you never can tell with dead rubbers and the appearance of Kevin Pietersen might finally spark St Lucia into life. One thing I think we will see is plenty of sixes. We saw on Thursday night that this ground isn’t big enough for the personnel we’ve got on show here and with nothing riding on the game they can all go out and express themselves which should lead to plenty of sixes. Both sides have big hitters in their midst and the wickets on this ground look lovely for batting. These boundaries are tiny in comparison to any in the world and the natural Caribbean flair is to send plenty of big shots flying over the ropes so I expect the sixes to flow here too. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Playoff 1 preview: 4pts Red Steel to beat Jamaica 10/11 Ladbrokes The Red Steel won the only previous meeting between the two sides this season. Worryingly for the Tallawahs Chris Gayle actually fired in that match and they still lost so they will need to find something else to turn the tables. You would expect this to be a high scoring game on this ground and that has to favour the Red Steel with their more powerful batting line up and their stronger bowling attack so it is Bravo’s men for me. kevshat
Re: Caribbean Premier League 2014 Final preview: 4pts Guyana to beat Barbados 4/5 Stan James I backed Guyana before the tournament and I’m backing them again in this final. They have looked a different animal with Sunil Narine in their side and it is only the matches he was out for where they looked even semi vulnerable. Barbados have entertained wonderfully but they have a bowling attack you can score against and you wonder how they will go if Malik gets out early. Guyana have no such issues and should be taken to win this.
