Richard Keys discussing World Cup, Suarez and England on TipTV

http://www.tiptv.co.uk/interviews/richard-keys-shares-with-us-his-thoughts-on-the-world-cup/ Richard Keys joined TipTV on the show via Skype yesterday to discuss a few issues that have been the most prominent talking points from this World Cup including Luis Suarez, the World Cup in Qatar and his views on the England national team. Keys, calling in from Doha, was able to reveal that, in his opinion, a Qatari World Cup was entirely possible but only with technologies that were currently being tested in various fan parks and stadia around the country. He stated that without these technologies, which he described as simply large scale air-conditioning, a World Cup in the current conditions is simply not an option. He claimed that the much discussed idea of hosting it in the winter could lead to one of the best World Cup tournaments ever, due to the fact that the November/December period comes during the middle of the season for most leagues, a time where most players hit their best run of form. While the jury is still out on Qatar hosting the World Cup in 2022, it is worth noting that the opening and final match of the 2022 World Cup is scheduled to take place in Lusail Iconic Stadium, which is located in a city that does not exist yet. Arguably the most discussed event of the 2014 World Cup is the Luis Suarez Biting Incident Vol. III. Richard Keys mentioned that he feels that Suarez has played last season at Anfield, and this appears to be a safe bet, as Barcelona appear to be moving in for a big money transfer for the Uruguayan striker. As for his on-pitch antics, Keys stated that, although he had a ‘wonderful season, you just don’t know’. His final two cents was on the performance of England. His views echoed those of Chris Waddle and Harry Redknapp, stating that the essence of England’s failure can be put down to the “lack of passion” the US and the South American teams are seen to have, especially in regards to the singing of the national anthems., describing the English effort as ‘puerile’. Is he right? Is the lack of passion due to a complacency stemming from high pay-checks? Should Suarez still be allowed to play? Is Qatar the right place for a World Cup despite much of it not existing yet? Let us know at @OfficialTipTV on Twitter or like the Facebook page at facebook.com/officialtiptv.
