Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Tournament preview: 1pt ew B.Hawkins to win Australian Open 16/1 Ladbrokes (1/2 1-2) Barry Hawkins is another in the bottom half of the draw and he knows this tournament well having won it in 2012 and everything looks in place for him to have another big run in the competition this year too. He comes into the event off the back of a run to the semi finals in the Wuxi Classic where only the likely winner Neil Robertson stopped him and has knowledge that he can play well in these conditions. With the top names in the field in the other half of the draw Hawkins could end the week as a two time Australian Open champion. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Monday TV previews: 4pts M.Allen vs F.O'Brien - Over 7.5 frames 21/20 Coral The fact this is Allen’s first game of the season and the fact that O’Brien is a stubborn so and so and never seems to go away easily leads me to think that this will be closer than the odds perhaps suggest. Conditions won’t be easy to play top snooker on which brings O’Brien into it more and while Allen has the battling qualities himself he may need more than 7.5 frames to shake O’Brien off. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/allen-vs-o-brien-betting-irish-battle-could-take-some-time-to-sort-out 4pts R.Milkins to beat L.Wenbo 13/10 Coral It could just be that Wenbo is the perfect opponent for Robert Milkins. Milkins should know if he keeps things tight and at long range then if his Chinese opponent is slightly off colour then he will leave the table wide open for Milkins to take advantage. Clearly that is what he has done in their meetings so far and at the prices the Englishman looks good value given their previous record. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/milkins-vs-wenbo-betting-robert-milkins-looks-good-value-to-continue-his-good-record-against-wenbo 3pts T.Ford to beat J.Higgins 23/10 Boylesports I think Ford could be a bit of value here. Higgins will be under big pressure to win this match and unless he suddenly finds his scoring, which is unlikely given that I doubt he’ll have got much practice in since he lost in the Wuxi Classic with all the travelling and moving around etc, Ford’s power scoring could be too much for him. I certainly don’t make Higgins a 4/9 shot so Ford is the value here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/higgins-vs-ford-betting-tom-ford-can-motor-past-higgins-in-australia

Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Tuesday TV previews: 4pts S.Bingham vs S.Donaldson - Over 2.5 frames Evs Coral Stuart Bingham is the favourite for this match but I don’t see him having it all his own way. Donaldson is clearly talented and he has won a lot of matches in the last month or so and will be feeling good about his game. Sometimes Bingham makes hard work of things when he’s a favourite and if he can get off to a good start Donaldson could well push the former champion all the way, or at least beyond 7.5 frames. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-donaldson-betting-donaldson-can-push-the-former-winner-close 4pts F.O'Brien to beat M.Stevens 6/5 Stan James On what we saw in the first round I would suggest O’Brien is a big price here. He isn’t renowned for heavy scoring but when he does score heavily it is a sign that he is in good order and he is hard to beat because his safety game is so good. Repeating that performance will be the quest for O’Brien but if he does then he’ll be a big price here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/o-brien-vs-stevens-betting-fergal-o-brien-looks-overpriced-to-see-off-stevens 3pts R.Milkins to beat J.Higgins 7/4 Ladbrokes I like Milkins in this match. By and large he has begun the season well and he clearly doesn’t fear anyone. He has actually won the last three meetings between these two as well so he obviously raises his game when he’s playing against Higgins. Higgins is struggling for form at the minute and confidence looks to be pretty low so I think he is there for the taking in this one. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Watched Maguire in the wuxi tourny, he played really well. Thought he would perform today, put on a big punt on him to beat Jamie Jones. Instead he got thrashed. Shocking performance, just shows that anything can happen in gambling. Just looked at his ranking and he's seeded 18th against jamie jones who is 89th. :( Money down the toilet . Major favourite he is .

Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Wednesday TV previews: 4pts S.Murphy vs J.Lisowski - Over 7.5 frames 5/6 Skybet I think Murphy will come through this but Lisowski is still enough of a danger to run the former world champion close, especially if he has his scoring boots with him. Lisowski may be feeling that this is an ideal week to make a real breakthrough which should concentrate his mind a bit more and make him produce his best but he’ll need to the way Murphy is hitting the ball. Despite that Murphy was in China until late last week so travelling and matches might catch up with him and mean he is slightly below his best so over 7.5 frames looks a distinct possibility to me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-lisowski-betting-first-round-clash-looks-likely-to-be-close 4pts J.Trump (-2.5 frames) to beat R.McLeod 8/11 Coral Favourites aren’t having the greatest time of it in this tournament but I don’t see one being beaten here. McLeod is very limited as a player and while he will make it scrappy he will need a lot of chances to win frames and while Trump isn’t at his best at the minute I still don’t think he will give McLeod the amount of chances he’ll need to win. I expect Trump to win this with a bit in hand. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-mcleod-betting-judd-trump-should-ease-into-the-second-round 4pts N.Robertson (-2.5 frames) to beat A.Higginson Evs Bet365 I don’t see Robertson having too many troubles here. He will be extra motivated to perform well in Australia and while Higginson came through the wildcard round he didn’t exactly impress in it. It has been a while since we’ve seen the Higginson that made a Welsh Open final back in the day and with Robertson having already signalled his form this season with the Wuxi Classic win I expect the Australian to cruise through this. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul 3 points for Neil Robertson to win Australian Open @3.23 on bet365 Robertson didn't have the best of his performances in China but still he managed to win Wuxi Classics. I think that in his home country he will be even more motivated to win the event finally. Given the draw and the players left in the tournament except Trump (considering he will be playing perfectly) I can't see anyone being able to beat Robertson. Opponents like Jamie Jones, Rob Milkins can't make life trickier for the Aussie. A probable match with Murphy in the semi finals would be a repeat of the clash they had last week where Robertson outplayed Murphy in the end. In the other side of the draw the biggest name is Trump but he is yet to convince that he is in form to make to the final and win it. Given the odds for Robertson I think that it is worth betting on him.

Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Thursday TV previews: 4pts S.Bingham (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Joyce 4/5 Bet365 Bingham should have too many weapons for Joyce in this match. He has won the title here before and knows what it takes and he usually improves as he goes along in a tournament. His scoring power is such that Joyce won’t get many chances so he’ll need to take the ones he does get. He isn’t the best of scorers though so I expect Bingham to win this with a little to spare. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-joyce-betting-stuart-bingham-should-be-too-good-in-second-round-clash 4pts A.McManus (+2.5 frames) to beat J.Trump 4/5 Coral I’m far from convinced that Trump will come through this match and if he does I don’t think he will do it with too much ease. McManus has come again in his career and wins over Higgins, Perry this season and that run to the quarter final of the World Championship last season shows he can still play this game and a 2.5 frame start looks a little too big for the Scot. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-mcmanus-betting-alan-mcmanus-has-every-chance-against-young-star 4pts N.Robertson (-2.5 frames) to beat J.Jones 8/11 Skybet Jones destroyed Maguire in the first round but he hasn’t been consistent for a while and he takes on the best player in the game form wise right now and in front of his home crowd I don’t expect Robertson to give Jones the chances he’ll need to win this match. Robertson’s scoring is so powerful that any mistake Jones makes will be punished to the full and I think that can see him through no worse than 5-2. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Friday TV previews: 4pts J.Trump vs R.Walden - Over 7.5 frames Evs Paddy Power I think this will be a fairly close quarter final. Both men look to be going ok and the conditions look good so we should see some decent breaks too. Walden has the all round game to compete while Trump will get in and make some high breaks at some point. Many of the previous meetings between these two players have been close and I see this one being no different on this occasion. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-walden-betting-quarter-final-looks-likely-to-be-close 4pts R.Milkins (+2.5 frames) to beat N.Robertson 10/11 Coral Robertson was in great form in the previous round but Milkins has been in good form all season so this is all set up to be a great quarter final. Milkins has beaten Robertson on the big stage so he won’t be overawed by taking on the recent Wuxi Classic winner and I think he can run him close if not actually beat him. You would think Robertson’s heavy schedule will catch up with him soon so Milkins with a 2.5 frame start looks a good bet here. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul Semi final previews: 4pts J.Trump (-1.5 frames) to beat X.Guodong 4/5 Bet365 I think Guodong is a good opponent for Trump and I would expect the Englishman to come through here with a bit in hand. He has scored well all week and when he does that he is a tough nut to crack. Although both are heavy scorers it could be that the better safety gets the job done here and I expect that to come from Trump. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-guodong-betting-judd-trump-can-race-into-australian-final 4pts N.Robertson vs M.Davis - Over 9.5 frames 11/8 Paddy Power I think this has the potential to be a close semi final. If we look at past meetings between these two surprisingly Davis has had the upper hand in a lot of them and that should give him a lot of confidence and belief. Robertson isn’t going to let go of this opportunity to win his home tournament lightly though so this should be very competitive and a semi final which goes beyond 9.5 frames. Re: Australian Open 30 Jun - 6 Jul You're welcome :ok Final preview: 4pts J.Trump to beat N.Robertson 5/4 William Hill Given his exertions of last week Robertson has done really well to make it into this final but I think Trump is playing some really lovely snooker this week and given the good record he has in long matches against Robertson I will side with the Englishman to take the title here. Both men are scoring great but when Trump scores this well he’s almost impossible to play against. He can take the win here.
