Re: Ante-Post > The UK Championships Tournament preview: 1pt ew S.Murphy to win UK Championship 20/1 Coral (1/2 1-2) The man I’m keen on in this tournament is Shaun Murphy. Yes he is in the bottom half of the draw which probably isn’t ideal but he comes here having won two European Tour events on the season, the latest one being in Germany at the weekend. It wasn’t just winning in Germany which caught my attention but the style he won in and the way he looked. He appeared to be cueing fantastically well and on Sunday he could easily have made three 147s. As it was he had to make do with one maximum having missed a blue and a green for others earlier in the day but that alone shows that Murphy is in good form. When Shaun Murphy cues like he did in Germany at the weekend he is very tough to stop and at 20/1 he looks perfectly good value here. Re: Ante-Post > The UK Championships 1st quarter preview: 2pts R.Walden to win 1st Quarter 15/2 Boylesports I always think Ricky Walden is a better player in the longer formats and I fancy him to go well this week. He won the International Championship over the same format a few weeks ago out in China. He played some superb snooker in that tournament and gave the weekend in Germany a miss to make sure he was fully refreshed and prepared for this tournament so I think Walden will go well here. He is a former semi finalist in this tournament before and given how well he is playing I think he’s overpriced in this quarter. Should he face Neil Robertson in the quarter final we know he can go toe to toe with him as he was doing so at the Champion of Champions recently before the heavy workload from China caught up with him. Should the two meet here it would be a much more even playing field so Walden can give us a real run for our money at 15/2. Re: The UK Championships Saturday TV previews: 4pts D.Junhui (-3.5 frames) to beat J.White 17/20 Coral Most people inside the Barbican will be hoping that Jimmy can roll back the years but sadly I don’t see it happening. He still needs a couple of chances per frame and you don’t get that so often against the elite players. Ding’s season hasn’t really got going yet but here is a chance for it to really kick start and I think he’ll take it by breezing through this one with plenty in hand. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-j-white-betting-ding-can-brush-jimmy-aside-in-york 4pts M.Selby (-3.5 frames) to beat D.Morris 17/20 Coral Selby looked very solid in his opening win earlier in the week and you’ve got to think he will be too strong here. Morris doesn’t have a lot to lose but he didn’t look particularly impressive in the opening round and he won’t be used to the bright lights, the big stage and the big crowd so he might feel a little more pressure than he usually would which all points to a comfortable Selby win to me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/morris-vs-selby-betting-world-champion-selby-can-ease-his-way-into-the-last-32 4pts J.Trump (-3.5 frames) to beat A.Mehta 20/21 Betfair The way Trump has been playing for the last month or so I would expect him to come through this one quite comfortably. Both times these two have met in the past Trump has won with plenty in hand and the way he is playing right now I would expect him to do the same here. Nothing Mehta produced in the first round will trouble him so it is Trump with a bit in hand for me in this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/mehta-vs-trump-betting-judd-trump-can-continue-his-good-form-in-york-on-saturday 4pts B.Hawkins vs N.Bond - Over 8.5 frames 10/11 Coral I don’t think this is one of those matches Hawkins will run away with. Nigel Bond still knows his way around a snooker table and he scored very well in the opening round. That gives off the impression that he can take any chances which come his way and you would think he will get chances. In the end I would expect Hawkins to be too good but not before this one has had over 8.5 frames. Re: The UK Championships Sunday TV previews: 4pts K.Wilson (+3.5 frames) to beat N.Robertson 17/20 Coral I think Wilson will put up a fair showing in this match. He doesn’t have a lot to lose and he is a heavy scorer so when he gets his chances there is no reason why he can’t take a few of them. Sometimes Neil Robertson struggles in these kind of matches as opposed to when he’s playing a top player which seems to focus his mind a little more so I’ll go with the youngster to win at least three frames in this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/n-robertson-vs-k-wilson-betting-kyren-wilson-can-put-up-a-good-show-against-defending-champion 4pts L.Brecel vs M.Allen - Over 9.5 frames 11/8 Bet365 Luca Brecel has been teetering on the fringes of a major breakthrough for a while and he has a chance to make that here. He is scoring well and if he can keep things tight enough then he should really put up a challenge against Allen, he certainly has the tools for it. In the end I think Allen’s experience may just see him over the line but I fancy this one to be close. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/brecel-vs-allen-betting-luca-brecel-can-run-mark-allen-close-in-york 4pts P.Lines vs R.O'Sullivan - Over 8.25 frames 7/8 Bet365 For the good of the tournament I think everyone hopes that O’Sullivan turns up and wins here and while I think he will win if he plays I don’t think he will win comfortably. Lines is an astute player who can keep things at long range and that will give him every chance to win a frames. Ultimately I would expect O’Sullivan’s natural talent to come through even if he is in pain but the 8.25 asian frames line looks more than achievable given O’Sullivan’s injury. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/lines-vs-o-sullivan-betting-o-sullivan-s-injury-can-allow-lines-to-stay-close 4pts R.Hull (+3.5 frames) to beat S.Murphy 17/20 Coral Robin Hull looks to be scoring well enough to give Shaun Murphy a game here. Murphy himself is playing well so this should be a good match. I expect Murphy to win it but we saw in the World Championship last season that Hull doesn’t fear anyone and can perform on the big stage so I expect him to put up a decent show here and take at least three frames. Re: The UK Championships surely plenty of value on Peter lines tonight @ 7/1 (Paddy, BV) He will be super confident given the fact he's already beaten him twice before and now he's playing him with a broken ankle. O'sullivans already complained about the pain in the last game and considered pulling out and I'm wandering how far he can go before it gets too much. Don't get me wrong O'sullivan turning up is enough to scare most players but @ 7/1 he has to be taken on IMO. I'll cover the bet with the 21/20 offered by Coral and Boyle on Lines +3.5 as if even if O'sullivan does win I'm expecting Lines to give him a few problems tonight!

Re: The UK Championships Monday TV previews: 4pts J.Higgins vs M.Stevens - Over 9.5 frames 11/10 Coral The evidence we’ve seen this week suggests that this will be a close match between two men who are clearly very talented and used to the big stage who have their scoring boots with them this week. I don’t expect either man to run away with this and would expect it to be a punch then counter punch sort of match so I like the odds against on over 9.5 frames. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/higgins-vs-stevens-betting-battle-of-the-veterans-can-be-a-lengthy-affair 4pts F.Patrick (+3.5 frames) to beat J.Trump Evs Boylesports Common logic would suggest Judd Trump is a good thing in this match and I fancy in time that will prove true but I’m not convinced that it will be before Patrick has won three frames. If the Scot settles in the environment quickly then this could be a much more competitive encounter than the odds suggest. Patrick has taken Selby and Fu to deciding frames this year and he can run Trump close here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/patrick-vs-trump-betting-fraser-patrick-can-run-trump-closer-than-the-odds-suggest 4pts K.Doherty (+2.5 frames) to beat R.Walden 4/5 Ladbrokes I think this will be a very close match and while I would fancy Walden to hold his nerve at the end I certainly think Doherty is playing well enough to keep him honest. Doherty is winning frames in one visit and his safety should get him the chances he will need to notch four frames if not the full six he needs. Walden is battle hardened already and faces another battle here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/doherty-vs-walden-betting-ken-doherty-can-cause-ricky-walden-problems-in-york 4pts S.Murphy (-2.5 frames) to beat J.Lisowski Evs Skybet Shaun Murphy has already beaten Jack Lisowski 5-0 this season when they met in Australia and while I doubt this one will be as easy as that I do think Murphy will come through with a bit in hand again. Lisowski has been needing a couple of chances to win frames and he might not get that here because his safety isn’t the strongest part of his game and Murphy is cueing so well so I’ll take Murphy -2.5 in this one. Re: The UK Championships Tuesday TV previews: 4pts B.Woollaston (+3.5 frames) to beat R.O'Sullivan 17/20 Coral These two met in the International Championship last month when O’Sullivan was fully fit and the Rocket only won 6-4 so I don’t think it is a foregone conclusion that he wins this match. Woollaston’s record in the longer matches doesn’t inspire much confidence that he’ll get over the line but that result last month does at least show that Woollaston can be good for three frames is nothing else so I like him on the cap in this one. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/woollaston-vs-o-sullivan-betting-woollaston-can-run-ronnie-close-in-another-major 4pts P.Ebdon (+2.5 frames) to beat N.Robertson 11/10 Paddy Power For some reason Neil Robertson doesn’t have a good record over Peter Ebdon. The two have met in ranking events six times since 2010 and Ebdon has won five of those matches and lost the other in a deciding frame so he clearly raises his game to take on the Australian which leads me to believe that the 2.5 frame handicap he is getting here could be a frame too many. I’ll take Ebdon here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/robertson-vs-ebdon-betting-peter-ebdon-can-keep-up-his-strong-record-over-robertson 4pts D.Junhui vs J.Cahill - Over 8.5 frames 21/20 Coral I would expect Ding to come through this match but I’m not convinced it will be all one way traffic. James Cahill has already shown he can mix it with the best players in the game and as long as the bright lights don’t scare him here I would expect him to have a good go here too. In the end Ding’s scoring power should see him through but not before the match has seen a ninth frame. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/ding-vs-cahill-betting-ding-can-be-pushed-closer-than-expected-in-york 4pts M.Williams vs S.Maguire - Over 9.5 frames 11/10 Paddy Power Both men have shown plenty of form both coming into this tournament and in the tournament itself so far and given the quality they possess and the scoring potential they have I think this will be a really close match. Both men know how to rise to the occasion and both will be fancying a really good run this week so there is everything in place for this one to go past 9.5 frames and possibly even all the way to a decider. Re: The UK Championships Wednesday previews: 4pts J.Higgins (-2.5 frames) to beat A.McGill 11/10 Ladbrokes Higgins has shown really good form in this tournament so far and with the confidence that three wins can bring I would expect him to get better and better from here. McGill showed good fighting qualities to come past Nigel Bond in the previous round but he won’t get as many chances against Higgins with his tactical game and unless he ups his scoring dramatically I see Higgins coming through this with a bit to spare. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/mcgill-vs-higgins-betting-john-higgins-can-cruise-into-the-quarter-finals 4pts S.Bingham vs R.Walden - Over 9.5 frames 21/20 Coral I think this is all set up to be a really close match. Both men score pretty well and both men have good safety games and know their way around the table. They have both looked in good touch this week and have already played a deciding frame in getting to this stage and this could be another such match where they go all the way. I like over 9.5 frames in this match. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-walden-betting-chinese-event-winners-can-be-closely-matched-in-york 4pts N.Robertson vs G.Dott - Over 9.25 frames 1.93 Bet365 The way Dott has played in this tournament so far I think he can hold his own in this match and ensure the match goes into a ninth frame if not further than that so I like the Asian total line in this one. They both look in good form, they both compete hard and both know their way around a snooker table so this last 16 match should have plenty of mileage in it. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/robertson-vs-dott-betting-battle-of-the-former-world-champions-can-be-closer-than-expected 4pts M.Davis (-2.5 frames) to beat J.Cahill 11/10 Paddy Power James Cahill doesn’t just have to face a tricky opponent here but he will have to battle with all the side effects of such a big win like he had in the previous round. He will be in demand from various media sources and given that his match with Ding didn’t finish until 1am on Wednesday morning he isn’t going to get a lot of sleep so it will require almost a bigger effort for him to win this. I sense he might struggle to replicate that performance and could find himself a bit flat and Davis is seasoned enough to take advantage. Re: The UK Championships Thursday previews: 4pts S.Murphy vs M.Fu - Over 9.5 frames 6/5 Paddy Power A lot of the matches which have looked close on paper this week haven’t really played out that way but I really expect this one to be tight because they are both evenly matched. Both have scored well when they have got in this week and the fact Fu’s safety game is slightly better than Murphy’s would suggest Murphy may struggle to run away with this. When they met at the Masters earlier in the year it ended 6-4 and their World Championship meeting was 9-7 before Murphy powered away so this should be tight. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-fu-betting-last-16-clash-looks-likely-to-be-a-tight-one 4pts J.Trump (-2.5 frames) to beat R.Lawler 4/6 Coral Rod Lawler did brilliantly well to see off Mark Allen in the previous round but I think his run ends here. I just don’t think he matches up to Judd Trump particularly well. Trump scores so heavily, as Fraser Patrick can testify but his safety game is improving all the time and he is now turning the risky shot down to create better chances for himself. Lawler isn’t going to outscore Trump and I don’t think he’s taking more than 3 frames from him either. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-lawler-betting-judd-trump-can-be-too-good-for-lawler-in-york 3pts R.O'Sullivan (-3.5 frames) to beat M.Selt 20/21 Betfair Selt has nothing to lose here so he can give this one a good go and try and make a few high breaks and give Ronnie a good battle but with Ronnie’s ankle getting better I expect to see him back near the form he showed in the Champion of Champions, especially given that he has seen Higgins get knocked out and if Ronnie is in that form this should really be a comfortable win for him. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/selt-vs-o-sullivan-betting-ronnie-should-have-too-much-quality-for-selt 4pts S.Maguire (-2.5 frames) to beat D.Morris 5/6 Bet365 You have to respect what David Morris has done this week but I think he’ll meet his match here. Stephen Maguire looks very good and when he’s in the balls you don’t think he is going to miss. That will put plenty of pressure on Morris both when he gets a chance but more so with his safety and eventually I expect that pressure to tell and Maguire should run out a comfortable winner. Re: The UK Championships Friday QF previews: 4pts G.Dott vs S.Bingham - Over 9.5 frames 11/10 Coral An interesting mix in styles will be on show here but I guess the key thing is that both have looked in good form in this tournament so far so I would expect a close match here. Three of their four meetings in ranking tournaments have gone the distance and the other ended 4-2 so they are usually good battles when these two go against each other and I’m expecting no different here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/dott-vs-bingham-betting-these-two-look-set-for-another-tight-battle 4pts R.O'Sullivan (-3.5 frames) to beat A.McGill 10/11 Coral Anthony McGill has his work cut out here. In fairness everyone left in this tournament does because Ronnie looks in scintillating form right now. Credit has to go to the Scot for holding it together in the previous round and it will have taken a lot of effort to beat a hero of his and now I’m sure he faces another. This one will be different though given how well Ronnie is playing and try as he might I don’t see McGill getting close. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/mcgill-vs-o-sullivan-betting-ronnie-can-be-too-much-for-the-scot-in-quarter-final 4pts J.Trump (-2.5 frames) to beat M.Davis 17/20 Boylesports Judd Trump will enjoy the pace of this match a lot more than he did against Lawler and given that he is playing snooker from a level above Davis I would expect him to come through here with a fair bit in hand. Davis is so close to qualifying for The Masters and while that is an incentive for him to win this match it could also add to the pressure. Trump is scoring so well and I think he’ll be too good here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/davis-vs-trump-betting-judd-trump-can-have-too-much-for-davis-in-york 4pts M.Fu vs S.Maguire - Over 9.5 frames 21/20 Coral I’m looking forward to this quarter final. We have the ultra aggressive Maguire who goes on all out attack against the more passive Marco Fu who is much more a strategist but who is criminally underrated when it comes to the scoring side of the game. Fu was awful in the previous round but he may well feel as though he is freerolling now and there’s no way he can be any worse. Maguire looks good so this one should be a close tussle. Re: The UK Championships SF previews: 4pts S.Bingham (+2.5 frames) to beat R.O'Sullivan 10/11 Paddy Power Although Bingham hasn’t won many of his matches against O’Sullivan he has always performed well and taken the majority of them fairly close and I think he’ll do the same here too. He is the kind of player who raises his game against the best and has the sort of game that can trouble the best. In the end I would expect O’Sullivan to come through but Bingham can go with him most of the way. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-o-sullivan-betting-stuart-bingham-can-go-toe-to-toe-with-ronnie-in-uk-semi 4pts J.Trump vs S.Maguire - Over 9.5 frames 6/5 Paddy Power I’m expecting a high quality match up here between two top players. Trump looks in great form this week but Maguire is scoring well so I’m not expecting a lot of safety and the chances are that whoever gets in first will win the frame so this one has all the makings of going all the way. If I had a gun to my head I’d take Maguire as he’s had the better of their recent meetings but over 9.5 frames looks the way to go here. Re: The UK Championships Great tipping throughout the UK Champ Kevshat. Been watching keenly with my Maguire outright bet... If only he was a little less gung ho in the first two frames of the SF. It could of been all so different. The final for me is a no bet. The way ROS has been playing, every result is possible. For me, his moments of brilliance have brought him through on the crest of the very average snooker he's produced. ROS will be the bigger benefactor of the longer format in the final though. I'd be a good backer of Judd's if it were still first to 6. I can see Judd winning in a race to 6. Im not so sure first to 10. Lets hope ROS can find his long potting and Judd his white control, because this has the makings of a very entertaining final.

Re: The UK Championships Cheers guys :ok. Final preview: 4pts J.Trump to beat R.O'Sullivan 13/8 Paddy Power Sometimes sporting events can be hyped up and fail to live up to expectations. I’m confident this won’t be one of those occasions. We’ve got a genius vs the apprentice in this match. They met in the Champion of Champions final last month and there were six centuries in just 17 frames and I’m not expecting much different here. In the end Ronnie was flawless in that final and too good but even he’ll struggle to play that well again so I fancy Trump to edge this one.
