Re: Stobart Super League Thursday TV preview: 4pts Wakefield (-4) to beat Widnes 10/11 Coral Wakefield’s upturn in form has been quite dramatic but a change of coach and the return of Tim Smith seems to have done the trick and I think they have the necessary ability and momentum to take care of Widnes here. Widnes’ season is in danger of being all about that Challenge Cup semi final and with players not wanting to be injured for that we’re approaching the time where they might all be a touch cautious to avoid injuries where possible. They certainly didn’t look bang on it last week whereas Wakefield were excellent and a repeat of that should see them as comfortable winners here. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Castleford (-6) to beat Huddersfield 5/6 William Hill Castleford are buzzing at the minute and although it was only a faltering Widnes side they beat last week the way they did it should have made everyone stand up and take notice. Cas are so powerful up the middle and in Daryl Clark they surely have the Man of Steel in waiting and he can take advantage of the absences in the middle of the park for the Giants and see the Tigers home by more than a score. Re: Stobart Super League Saturday TV preview: 4pts Catalans (+6) to beat Wigan 10/11 William Hill I wouldn’t be surprised if Wigan win this but I’m not going to put money on it. If they do I think they will have had to come through a battle to see off a resurging French side who often play to their best in their home surroundings. I’ve still got a couple of concerns over the spine of the Wigan side although undoubtedly having O’Loughlin back helps. Even so a six point head start looks a couple too many. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday preview: 4pts Castleford (+10) to beat Leeds 20/21 Bet365 I’m looking forward to this game. Both sides love to play fast, open, attacking rugby and conditions should allow that so I expect the game to flow. Leeds are rightful favourites I think, although they’ve not been as convincing in the last few weeks but I’m amazed Castleford are getting double figures in way of a head start. That looks a touch too big to me so I’ll take the Tigers on the handicap here. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Warrington (-16) to beat Widnes 10/11 Coral I’m not sure Warrington will win by enough they need to go top of the table but I do think by enough to cover the handicap. Widnes’ defence has been exposed a lot in the last couple of weeks and Warrington’s attacking power is likely to expose it a lot more in this match. You’ve got to think Widnes have an eye on the Challenge Cup semi in a few weeks which is distraction them so it is Warrington for me here. Re: Stobart Super League 4pts Wakefield (+14) to beat Catalans Evs Bet365 I’m not sure whether Wakefield are strong enough to win this match but I certainly believe they’re good enough to stay within two scores of an ill disciplined Catalans unit. Catalans have just stumbled a little bit in recent weeks and are lacking a bit of momentum going into this match. Wakefield have plenty of that and with their influential captain back here too I think they have every chance of going well here. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday preview: 4pts Castleford (-4) to beat Hull FC Evs Coral Castleford are on a decent run at the minute and they are playing what can only be described as playoff rugby and I think they’ll have too much for a game but ultimately not good enough Hull FC side here. This season has been a bit of a train wreck from start to finish for the home side and I don’t see it getting better here. Castleford should be a score too good at least in this one. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Salford (+8) to beat Leeds 10/11 BetVictor All eyes will be on Leeds here to see how they cope without Kevin Sinfield. Historically they have missed him whenever he hasn’t been available and it could be that they suffer his absence here. They might just be coming up against Salford at the wrong time too. The Red Devils have won their last three pretty convincingly and have their tails up. I’m not completely convinced they will win this but they can stay close to the Rhinos at least. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday preview: 4pts Wigan (-10) to beat Salford 5/6 William Hill I think Shaun Wane will have read the riot act to his side after last week’s debacle and I expect him to get a reaction from his team here. Salford are the side every team wants to beat this season because they have been shouting from the rooftops and aren’t going down quietly. Wane and Wigan love that sort of confrontation so I fully expect the home side to prove too good in this one. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Warrington (+4) to beat Catalans 10/11 Betfred Despite the absence of Russell I think Warrington are getting too much of a start here. They seem to cope with physical sides a lot better than the skilful ones and they can do that again here. Indiscipline has been a regular foe for the French side and they are missing a couple of key forwards for this match so Warrington have every chance to actually win the game here but I’ll go safe and take them with the start. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday TV preview: 4pts Wigan (-12) to beat Hull KR 19/20 Spreadex Wigan have been going really well despite not having their best side out hardly at all this season but the return of Blake Green here should increase their creativity and should in theory open up their wide areas for the likes of Charnley to do what he does best. Hull KR are a battling side but they are fairly limited especially in the creative areas and that has to be a concern. I expect Wigan to come through this with a fair bit in hand. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Warrington (-20) to beat Castleford 10/11 William Hill Given that Castleford have all but written this match off the simple solution is to take Warrington here. I’ve no doubt the Wolves will win but the question is by how much. I don’t expect too much of a fight from the Tigers here. Next week is just too big for everyone involved. Warrington will be looking for a confidence boosting win after last week so I’ll take them to win this and cover a 20pt start. Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts Leeds to beat Wigan 7/4 Spreadex I think Leeds are a dangerous animal here. They’ve come out and said they feel they are being targeted over the whole Zak Hardaker affair and beware the wounded Rhino. This lot have a real siege mentality when they need it and when their backs are against the wall they often come out fighting. Wigan aren’t exactly in great form themselves so I’ve no interest in backing them at odds on. The value lies with the visitors here. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday TV preview: 4pts Wigan (-4) to beat Warrington 5/6 William Hill Wigan have had the upper hand in meetings between these two recently and I think that will be the same here too. Wigan won at the Halliwell Jones Stadium earlier in the season without McIlorum and O’Loughlin and the Wolves had the likes of Westwood then too. The tables have turned for this match and Wigan look the stronger side going into this game and with their strong record over Warrington too I think they can cover a score here. Re: Stobart Super League Agree with kev on this selection. Warrington have had a few tough games recently and the loss of blix and Westwood makes things tough for them. They still have the brilliant monaghans so will not roll over easily. Their defence was posted missing in the 1st half against castleford a fortnight ago so a similar performance and wigan could run riot. STRONG BET - wigan -4.5

Re: Stobart Super League Friday TV preview: 4pts St Helens to beat Huddersfield 10/11 Ladbrokes I did like the idea of the Giants continuing their good form in this match but I can’t help but feel the absence of Danny Brough will be big. Saints look a little light in the halves without Luke Walsh but there’s no doubt that is levelled up with Brough’s injury. Both sides have all the motivation they need to win but silverware is dangling at the end of this for the Saints and I fancy them to edge this one. Re: Stobart Super League 4pts Castleford to beat Catalans 13/10 Betfair Motivation could be everything in this match and only one side has that. You’ve got to think somewhere in the minds of the Dragons it will be about preserving energy for next week which means a lot more than this game. That’s not the case for Castleford. This is everything to them. They’ve shown all year that they can perform well in the one off knockout matches. This isn’t dissimilar to that so I’ll take the Tigers here. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday night preview: 4pts Huddersfield (+12) to beat Wigan 10/11 Stan James This has all the hallmarks of being a cracking way to begin the playoffs and with no elimination both can give it a good go for the reward of having next week off. Huddersfield would really like that I’m sure because they are carrying some niggles. Wigan look strong as they always do at this time of the season so we’re well set up here. I’m going to take Huddersfield with the start though because they are playing some lovely rugby at the minute and with Crabtree back to add oomph up the middle they should stay within 12 at the very least. Re: Stobart Super League Friday preview: 4pts St Helens (-6) to beat Castleford 19/20 Spreadex These two sides are always good to watch and matches between the two are always high scoring so this should be a good game but experience is often key at this stage of the season and St Helens have a lot of that. Castleford have shown their prowess in one off games this season but their small squad has played a lot of games this season and they come in here off the back of a short week and a trip to France so I think Saints will be slightly too good in this one. Re: Stobart Super League Huddersfield played like they had never met each other! Wigan looked like scoring a try with almost every set of 6. The giants will struggle to recover from this and be ready to go again next week. Confidence in the camp was destroyed tonight. If they can bounce back and get brough back then they'll be an attractive price next week.

Re: Stobart Super League Saturday previews: 4pts Warrington (-16) to beat Widnes 19/20 Betfair The do or die element of this match should ensure it is fiercely competitive but Warrington are one of the form sides in the competition at the minute and I expect them to be far too good for a game but often lacking Widnes side. Warrington played to a real quality and intensity at Wigan last week and if they can perform to that level here they should win and cover a 16pt start. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/warrington-vs-widnes-betting-warrington-can-cruise-into-next-week 4pts Catalans (+10) to beat Leeds Evs Betfred Leeds’ form has to be a real concern for Brian McDermott going into this match and it isn’t even as though they’ve eased off in that time either. They look a side who are pretty tired so they could probably do without coming up against this Dragons pack. I’m not confident enough in Catalans’ travelling abilities to definitely state the Dragons will win this game but I think they score enough tries and have enough power to stay within 10pts. Re: Stobart Super League Thursday preview: 4pts Warrington (-4) to beat Castleford 19/20 Spreadex Warrington look in really good touch at the minute and they know what it takes to come through and make it to Old Trafford and I think that can be crucial here. Castleford are really beginning to look like a side who have run their race this season and they need a huge turnaround on the poor performance last week to come through this. I’m not sure they’ve got it though and I think Warrington can pull away from them late on here. Re: Stobart Super League Friday preview: 4pts Catalans (+8) to beat Huddersfield 10/11 Coral Huddersfield will be improved purely with Brough’s return but they’ll need to find plenty more oomph than they had last week if they are to come through this. You always go cautiously when the Dragons travel but they couldn’t be in better form right now and if a win at Leeds doesn’t give them confidence nothing will. Whether that is enough to see them through here remains to be seen but they have enough power up front and enough quality in the backs to run the Giants close in this one. Re: Stobart Super League 4pts Catalans Dragons (+10) to beat St Helens 10/11 Coral Catalans need to get off to a fast start in this match because I’m sure freshness will become an issue in this match the longer it goes on. If the Dragons have a lead to hold on to they might just last home with Old Trafford getting closer and closer but if they are trailing it may be hard to get the energy to get back in it. That said the reward is huge and they have so many dangerous players in attack that even if they go down I don’t see it being by more than 10. Re: Stobart Super League Friday preview: 4pts Warrington (+8) to beat Wigan 10/11 Paddy Power Wigan will be nice and fresh going into this match but they face a tough challenge against a Warrington side who have plenty of momentum coming in. They weren’t too overly worked against Castleford last week so the extra game shouldn’t have made too much of a difference and with Old Trafford on the horizon I expect Warrington to give this everything they’ve got. That might not be enough but with the dangers they have in attack it should be enough to stay within 8pts. Re: Stobart Super League 4pts Wigan (-6) to beat St Helens 5/6 Spreadex This is an interesting blend in styles. St Helens will rely on their forwards to dominate the battle whereas the Wigan half back pair will be their key to success but I think Wigan’s pack is closer to the Saints’ forward line than the Saints half backs are to Wigan’s halves and that can be the difference. Wigan are really buzzing right now and you sense that they will be too strong for an injury depleted Saints side.
