Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th Ever since the jury vote came into play I've absolutely sucked at this. Probably that and my dislike for short odds. On the favourite though, I just don't get it. I immediately got why Euphoria, Fairytale and Only Teardrops were the stand outs. With Not Alone I'm honestly baffled by it's favouritism. Particularly with no staging set either. If it weren't for the jury and the fact it won last year, I'd have Denmark as the favourite. It's lacks the big vocal but feels way more like a Eurovision song. Very surprised by Norway as 2nd favourite too, though that may be the jury vote factor. On a personal note very much like Spain's entry.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th 2 for me: Denmark @ 12 Betfair It's a song that I like less each time I listen to it, but this doesn't matter. It will only be heard once and it is immediately engaging. The singer is telegenic and a blatant Bruno Mars wannabe, but I don't think that hurts here. It's cheesy for sure, but I think of all the entries it grabs you from the opening and continues on with the whistles and back up dancers and what not. It has also been given the plum position of 23rd in the final. The obvious concern more than anything is the jury vote. It's a factor for sure, but interestingly, there's a site that has asked various contestants from past editions to be their country's jury vote, and in this impromptu jury vote Denmark is running 6th. Obviously this won't be the jury for the country, but it is Eurovision, so I think there can be some merit in their opinion. UK @ 16 Betfair In the mock jury votes I referred to, COTU is winning quite comfortably. It is also leading a number of fan polls, which can sometimes be misleading, but I think it's a great chance and the best entry Britain has had in ages. It's got an anthemic feel to it, and is clearly going to do well with juries. This is the highest selling single (of the ESC 2014 entries) in a number of countries on iTunes as well. Perhaps not always the most reliable indicator but I really do not like Armenia's entry -- for me it is still way too short and too boring for the first 2/3rds. Sweden is good entry and well sung, but I feel way too short for what it is. For mine UK and Denmark are the best value bets this year. I will also pay very, very close attention to Romania. This is the same pair that came 3rd or 4th a few years back. Their current rendition of Miracle is a dance track, which frankly is a bit off, but their acoustic version is a lot better and would be a real darkhorse were they to sing that. They are also trying to get some hologram stuff into their visuals. I think it's been rejected but they are obviously exploring ways to make their song appeal to voters.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th Watched the first semi the other day, decided to have a punt on the netherlands straight after performance, managed to get 40. After having a look on betfair noticed this was priced at odds from 800 much earlier, dont really bother to much with these things, but with watching the other day for the first time, surely must be inside betting on this after vote counts in semi. Netherlands were still available at 40 tuesday till voting came in, then suddenly near favouritism.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th I think because it is going to be quite close this year, and no run away leader I can see Ukraine with the sympathy vote coming in the first 2. Otherwise Sweden has an advantage as I have a feeling their song has already been released in Europe. Sweden 11/4 , Ukraine 10-1 (1/4 odds 1st 3 with ladbrokes)

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th Judged on what I have seen so far Austria are certs. The value for me at the moment are Armenia and Romania e/w. Thought Iceland were good too, but I have a "too far west" rule. Not decided what I will back yet, want to see them all.

I'm on that aswell. Why are Belarus at 900s on Betfair. Was it that bad??
I don't remember the act, so that means they must have been pretty average, well to my mind anyways. :D I just had a bet on Hungary @ 40, very big price, thought he was a great singer and he is in the big voting zone. Also had a bet on Armenia @ 29, so far.

Here it is http://www.eurovision.tv/page/multimedia/videos?id=109483 I'm dying to put money on it, but I'm afraid that this could be a case of me having no taste in music when it comes to eurovision. I need another opinion!

You'll find it if you google eurovision belarus. I liked it, but maybe I'm the only person in the whole world! I'd love to bet on it for a laugh, it's at 900s!

Tbh, I have no idea how the voting works these years. I just want to place a few bets to make the voting more interesting :-)

Tbh' date=' I have no idea how the voting works these years. I just want to place a few bets to make the voting more interesting :-)[/quote'] The trend the last few years is the Western countries have no chance.. The eastern countries vote for each other, as do the Scandanavians. I rule out everything west of Germany... I can't see past Austria, Armenia and Hungary, bit this comp always surprises me... My bets are Armenia and Hungary.

I couldn't resist a bet on Belarus at 1000 :-) No more bets for me tonight. Time to cheer on Netherlands and hope Austria lose. Good luck with your bets :-)

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2014 > May 10th Just saw the quick highlights. Netherlands definitely my favourite. There was also something I liked about the French song, but I wouldn't bet on it.....far to weird and quirky, but fun. I wasn't into the Romania or Hungary songs, but Armenia could be good for you.

All personal preference. I really liked the Iceland song too on reflection, they were bright and good craic, so threw a 5er on them. Armenia @ 29 & 50 Hungary @ 40 & 65 Romania @ 390 Iceland @ 90 That is me done haha.

You're right about the Iceland song, but I didn't risk cash on it.
