Re: ICC Cricket World Cup Winner 2015 > Ante-Post Betting I have relatively strong views that the ICC World Cup will be staying in Australia (unless James Faulkner is ruled out with injury following the England game. If so would prefers South Africa) but wanted to put up a bet now that appeals to me in the Top Tournament Batsman market. My my credentials are that I am looking for a player who is highly likely to play the maximum number of games in the tournament, who has proven form in Australia / New Zealand and, in a tourney where they will face minnows and there is a possibility that the 4th or 5th bat won't have to come out at all is either an opener or next in. i think the main two teams to focus on are Australia and South Africa. The opening options for Australia are appropriately priced in the outright market and so is Hashim Amla for South Africa. But Amla's normal opening partner Quinton de Kock has been stuck in at 40/1 by Corals when he is 16/1 with Bet365. The reason why I think his price is so big is because he hasn't been part of the South Africa v West Indies ODI series thus far due to injury but he is fit again and due start in the final ODI in that series. In the WC itself I don't believe they will rest him as he is their preferred wicket keeper and he needs time in the middle before the knockout phases. Quinton also has good form on Australia & NZ pitches. In 8 innings last year there he averaged 41 runs with a high score of 107. if you fancy an e/w punt at a big price that will last the tournament I think you could do a lot worse than this imo. Good luck CB

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Team to hit most sixes - New Zealand - 3.25@William Hill I see value in this bet. New Zealand is expected to go deep in this tournament and they will play all the group game in home. New Zealand grounds are smaller than Australian grounds so they have significant advantage over other teams in this market.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Tournament preview: 3pts ew New Zealand to win World Cup 6/1 Stan James (1/2 1-2) The best value in the outright market may well be New Zealand. The Kiwis will be playing all their early matches on home soil which is a great advantage and with the likes of Luke Ronchi and Grant Elliott in good form they now have a very solid looking batting line up which is important because they have a bowling attack which can rival most in these conditions. In Brendon McCullum, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor with the bat and Tim Southee, Dan Vettori and Mitchell McClenaghan with the ball they are some potential stars of the competition. They have good backups with the bat and the ball too which could be important and with them in the more difficult group, a group they’ll still qualify from, giving them a potentially easier quarter final, they look decent value for an each way punt at 6/1. Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Top Batsman preview: 2pts ew K.Williamson Top Tournament Batsman 14/1 Boylesports (1/4 1-6) Kane Williamson for me is the best batsman in the world across all three formats right now. His consistency is superb. Since the start of 2014 he has played in 18 ODIs across the world and has passed 50 in 12 of them, going past 100 three times and making 97 on two other occasions. He is going to play in every match for New Zealand and bat at number three and while he’s in the tougher group we can negate that by the fact he will play every match on home soil up until the final should New Zealand get there so these smaller grounds will allow him to fill his boots a lot more. Williamson plays seam and spin equally as well and with New Zealand likely to go a long way he is very much my main bet. 1pt ew T.Dilshan Top Tournament Batsman 33/1 Boylesports (1/4 1-6) Tillakaratne Dilshan was the top scorer in the last World Cup and he looks overpriced this time around. Although Sri Lanka aren’t expected to go deep in the tournament there is still a chance that they can come in the top three and avoid South Africa in the quarter final and if they do that they’re not much more than 50/50 against anyone else they could play. The Sri Lankan opener is in excellent form right now. In his last seven ODI innings he has three centuries and an 80, three of those innings in New Zealand so conditions are no issue for him. He has also blasted a ton against arguably the best attack in the tournament in the form of South Africa so Dilshan is in great form right now and merits support at 33/1 as backup to the main bet of Williamson. Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Top Bowler preview: 1pt ew M.McClenaghan Top Tournament Bowler 22/1 Betfred (1/4 1-5) Despite New Zealand bombing out in the opening round of the Champions Trophy in England two years ago Mitchell McClenaghan was the tournament’s top wicket taker in conditions which won’t be too dissimilar to the ones he will bowl in during this tournament. He swings the ball in and out, bowls up front, in the powerplay and at the death so he ticks plenty of boxes. There is a question mark as to whether he’ll play all the matches but if he starts well he should do so at 22/1 he looks a great bet in a side heavily tipped to go all the way. 1pt ew M.Irfan Top Tournament Bowler 40/1 William Hill (1/4 1-5) I can’t have a World Cup in Australia and not take advantage of the pace and bounce on offer and if anyone is going to do that then Mohammad Irfan is going to. He is a giant – literally at 7 foot 1 – and uses his assets very well. He bowls quick, gets the ball to swing but gets plenty of bounce which is going to be crucial in this tournament and although Pakistan may not go beyond the quarter finals he is in the easier group of the two so he may well have done more than enough damage by then, particularly against the three lesser sides who aren’t used to facing him, and against India who are awful against a bouncing ball. Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Group B preview: 5pts South Africa to win Group B Evs Bwin South Africa are a lot of people’s idea of the team that will go all the way but it takes a brave man to take them to win three knockout matches when they continually find ways to lose when the pressure cranks up. There will be no pressure in the group stage though. They will qualify and for my money they will win the group. They are so much more powerful than any other side in the group it is untrue and while qualifying is easy in theory winning the group should keep them away from New Zealand and Australia until the semi-final so that is all the motivation this star studded South Africa need to justify their strong favouritism tag in this section. Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Some team top tourney bat previews: 3pts I.Bell Top England Tournament Batsman 3/1 Ladbrokes Ian Bell was in excellent form in the recent tri-series and actually top scored in that tournament and he looks a good price to carry on that form in this tournament. Being an opener he’ll be at the crease from the start and given that he’s equally adept against seam and spin and capable of runs all over the wicket he looks a standout chance given the sublime form he is currently in. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/cricket-world-cup-betting-ian-bell-can-continue-his-good-form-in-world-cup 4pts E.Joyce Top Ireland Tournament Batsman 3/1 Ladbrokes Ed Joyce is by far and away the best batsman in this line up and given that he has an ODI ton for England in Australia back in the day he has to be the pick here. He is superb off the back foot so he is going to love conditions in this tournament. With India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and UAE in this group playing spin is going to be crucial and Joyce is very good at that while he works the seamers around so well too. Batting at three gives him plenty of time at the crease and he looks a great bet in this tournament. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/cricket-world-cup-betting-ed-joyce-can-shine-brightest-for-the-irish 2pts P.Mommsen Top Scotland Tournament Batsman 6/1 Boylesports Often I don’t like taking a captain in these markets but I believe this is an occasion where I can make an exception. Preston Mommsen is a decent all-round cricketer at Associate level and his form in the middle order will be crucial. Scotland have prepared with a number of matches in New Zealand for this tournament and he went as well as anyone in them so he is in good touch and given that he has the extra responsibility we might see him go up the order when the need arises. Mommsen originates from South Africa so the pace and bounce won’t trouble him and at 6/1 he’s a touch overpriced here. Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets Good luck Kev :ok Top Batsman - Rohit Sharma @ 22 Betfair Sharma will open the batting which is important for this bet as the most recent players to achieve this all batted in the Top 3. Sharma is the only man to score 2 double hundreds at ODI level and this may prove useful given he plays in the weaker Pool B in games against the UAE, Zimbabwe and Ireland. The Windies too aren't the most fearsome of bowling line ups and as he showed in a warm up game against Afghanistan, Sharma can take nothing attacks apart. In his first triangular series game against Australia he scored 130 odd so the touch is there and with India's batting recently anything but impressive I don't think he'll be rested too often the way a Warner or Finch might be. Top Bowler - Mitchell McClenaghan @ 26 Sportingbet Kev summed this one up nicely. He bowls at the death where there are always some cheap wickets on offer and he too plays in the easier pool which will also be handy. He'll know the NZ conditions well and as all NZ's game bar the final (should they make it) are in NZ local knowledge and familiarity will also be on his side. I expect the Aussies to rotate a little bit and their strength in bowling is stronger than NZ's which might also mean they share the wickets a bit more. Fastest 100 - Shahid Afridi @ 51 Unibet Afridi has hit 3 of the fastest 25 100's in ODI cricket and will play most of his games on the smaller NZ grounds. He too plays in the easier pool and though he probably bats too low to realistically expect this to happen, I can't help but feel the odds on offer are too good to refuse. Player of the Tournament Glenn Maxwell @ 29 Bet365 - All rounders have a knack of winning this award with both Yuvraj and Kluesner taking honours in the past 4 World Cups. Maxwell is a dynamic batsman whose power hitting really stands out and his off spinners, whilst well short of being high class, are competent and he can have a good game with the ball, as he showed in the final against England recently with 4 wickets. Add in his terrific fielding and I think he'll be in the frame. Has won MOTM in his past 2 ODIs. Corey Anderson @ 41 Sportingbet - Another big hitting all rounder who can shine with both bat and ball. Has the 2nd fastest ODI century and can pick up some wickets with his more than useful medium fast bowing. Like Kev I expect NZ to go pretty far in this tournament.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 - Ante-post bets I think that there is some value to be had in the top West Indian Batsmen market as Chris Gayle takes a significant % of the market and to be honest I can't see either him or any of the other players who have voiced their discontent over the WICB's position on in Dwayne Bravo and Keiron Pollard. Gayle has publicly voiced that the WI team is weaker for their omission and since they left the squad after the T20 matches in South Africa Gayle performances have significantly regressed. I also personally found it interesting after the West Indies beat a weak South Africa team in an ODI as to who was celebrating the victory. There aren't that many imo on that West Indies team who actually want to be in Australia at the moment and expect them to struggle in this tournament. They almost lost to Scotland in a warm up earlier this week! With this in mind I think a punt on Ramdin at 16's with Sportingbet to be the top WI batsmen is a decent punt. He is an experienced reliable non extravagant batsmen who will come in at about 5 or 6 who if the earlier batsman fall by the wayside will look to consolidate.
