Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Salzburg v Basel (Score from first leg: 0-0) The reports and statistics suggest Salzburg dominated the first leg, but couldn't score. They tend to be more confident and attack-minded at home, and I think if they play to their normal standard they should win. If they do take the lead in the first half, I could imagine them winning by a few goals, and I think the handicap odds are fairly attractive. Basel seem to have defended quite effectively in the first game, but can they keep it up for another 90 minutes? They might well try for an away goal themselves, which I think will suit Salzburg's attacking style. Of course, if Basel DO score, Salzburg need to outscore them, because a score-draw would put Basel through on away goals, but I think Salzburg should be capable of scoring a few here. Salzburg -1.5 2.12 Pinnacle Stake: 5 points

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Benfica v Tottenham (Benfica lead 3-1 from the first leg) Just some thoughts about this one ... By all accounts, Benfica were easily the better team in the first leg last Thursday. With their strong home record, they are theoretically good value at odds of 1.75 at home. The trouble is, psyschology often comes into play in the second legs of two-legged ties, with a team which is leading sometimes doing 'just enough' to go through. I could imagine Spurs going for it (they need to score at least 3 goals). But Benfica's defence is strong. I'm not sure where the value is in this game at the moment.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Valencia-Ludogorets 1(-1Eh) @2.05 with bet365 I am taking this one early because the odds won't last long.We saw that Ludogrets are incapable of dealing with fast and passing game style like Valencia and Basel's and were well beaten. After that in Sunday they had a toufh game in Lovech where they won (1:2) but there were players who went out injured. For Thursday's game in Spain Stoev will have difficulties in fullfiling the group for the game.Doubthfull are Moti(CB),Zlatinski(CM),Aballo(wing)and even if they could play i think that they won't be risked.Barthe(CB) is injured and Espinho(CM)-suspended.Ludogorets has filed only 21 players for the Europa League, which means that Stoycho Stoev may not be able to complete even the group. After Valencia(20.03)Ludogorets will host Litex who are 2nd in the table(23.03) and this clash could be decisive about who will be 1st.Ludogorets are obviously out of Europe LEague and now can only focus in the local championship.Valencia finished their job in Bulgaria but i think that whatever squad they pick they will won.Stoev and his players think mostly about their game in Sunday which is much more important given the cicrumstances and with these problems in the squad Ludogorets stand no chance.High stakes for this one.

Careful there. Tottenham are awful but work better away than at home. Benfica had a tough match today against Nacional, and didn't look that good on defence. Jorge Jesus might rotate a bit in midfield. I would get on that 1.75, don't see any value there.

Simeon, I don't agree much. I watched Valencia second leg at home vs Dinamo Kyiv (had X2) and I was glad to see that nobody in Valencia actually cared about winning that match - empty stands, slow football, little attacking. The situation on Thursday is similar - Valencia have sealed the qualification and their thoughts will be completely on the weekend La Liga match. As about Ludogorets, they will surely be very motivated to get a result. From their potential missings there could arise some problems in the center of defense, but if Motsi starts along Alexandrov, they should be balanced there. The other potential missing players have replacements from similar class. Also don't forget that Ludo plays better away from home in Europe - they won all their 4 visits in Europa League so far (beating Lazio, PSV, Chornomorets Odessa and Dinamo Zagreb). Value here is on Ludo +1.5.

P.S.The Spaniards will be without Keita,Senderos,Piatti,Bernat,Veso. On the other hand Valencia welcome back Romeu and Ricardo Costa

I remember, a few years ago now, when Everton faced Benfica at a similar point in whichever version of Europe's second string cup competition it was at the time. They completely outplayed Everton home and away, even though they lead 2-0 from the first leg. Very similar scenario here. Say what you like about Benfica, they're not playing well, only beat National 4-2 in the league (league form is inconsequential here IMO) but they still top the league etc... But they've only been beaten five times at home in competitive football since the start of the 2011 season.... Twice by Chelsea, once by Porto, a cup game against Guimaraes and the other was Barcelona. They are yet to concede a goal in their last nine competitive home games.... I think a Benfica, Salzburg double looks worthy of taking. Salzburg are playing the best football in Europe right now and were the better side in the first leg against Basle. They had better possession, more shots and extreme corner dominance.

Nobody is arguing that Valencia is the much more class team - they showed in Sofia where they won 3:0, playing with 10 men for most of the match. But I think you are heavily underestimating the motivation factor. We have seen this millions of times in two-leg games: the stronger team destroys the opponent in the first leg and they surprisingly draws/losses in the second. Just remember Uruguay-Jordan (the World Cup playoff) and how many people around the world lost their money on the "secure" home win in the second leg. There are countless similar examples. I mentioned Dinamo Kyiv, because Valencia didn't care at all about this second match at Mestalla, after winning 2:0 in the first. Now they are 3 goals ahead against less reputed team like Ludogorets. I somehow doubt their attitude will be different. Of course, it is possible that they still win and cover handicap, but honestly, Ludogorets are no pushovers to be beaten easily by a team which puts little to no efforts. The bare facts is that you would have got similar price (if not even higher) on Valencia if it was a first leg match, when Valencia would have been fully motivated. Now you get the same (if not lower) for a decided tie, where Valencia very likely will rest most of the regulars and will play with little motivation. This is a bad deal with respect to the prices I think.

Ahhhh shows my memory up for how it is :ok I'd have said so. Spurs don't have a top manager, are two goals behind with Benfica having three away goals. I'd expect Spurs to huff and puff and Benfica will boss the possession. Price has come in now though.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Juventus without Barzagli, but with Tevez Starting XI should be Buffon, Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini, Isla, Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah, Tevez, Osvaldo Conte, after match win against Genoa, has started his battle against the world, stating that according newspapers Juventus is already out from the competition after the draw at home, This is classic from Juventus Manager, and in this manner He obtains all the attention from his players and they will put all energy on the field Fiorentina is really good team, and with a lot of tecnique in midfield, But Juventus with an odd higher then @2 against an Italian team accoring to me is an opportunity Juventus is clearly a level higher then all others italian team Maybe phisical condition of players is not at top, but I think Juventus can win this one.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th The Salzburg coach has confirmed attacker Alan is fit to play tomorrow (21 games/21 goals in the league) according to their forum, he hasn't played since the second leg of the Ajax game and will certainly boost their attacking options. I will probably have a small play on Salzburg but I know plenty of Basel players were injured for the first leg, unsure as yet how many will return, only know Delgado hasn't travelled.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Well, I think betting on Benfica is pretty safe. They are on a unbeaten run for 25 games now which is really impressive. Their home record is outstanding also in Europe 1 loss against Chelsea last year and one draw in their last 17 games at home in the Europa league. They always score goals and they played pretty well away at Tottenham which is still a hard place to visit [under normal circumstances ofcourse]. Anyways, we can always discuss the motivation factor after such a first leg but I think with a home game on sunday against Academica, Benfica will surely want to win here. The league title is the most important price this year but they don't have that many attractive games in their season so I think playing Tottenham in their own stadium will fire them up. Big guns like Bayern sometimes might take a second leg too soft but I don't rate Benfica as such a team. Serious money is involved for their players and club. Home crowd is always fanatic and they face a poor side not something like Arsenal in good form. On the other hand I don't think Tottenham will play full force. Motivation should really be low and their morale is rock bottom at the moment. Their european spot they now possess in the league should be far more important. It would be a disaster for their club if they don't play in Europe next year. Several players who are key really needs those kind of games. No way Tottenham will think they have a serious chance of qualifying. A home game against Southampton is not easy on sunday. And even if they play with a full squad I still really doubt if they can take any points here. Benfica will surely line-up a strong side at home and they already outplayed the english side once. It is just not working for Tottenham at the moment and almost like every year, they start to suffer in the last few months of the season and always ruin their good rank. We almost never see a team turn around the fixture when they loose at home, especially not with 1-3. And even if it would happen once in a while, no way it will be a team that are really playing terrible at the moment. It will only be a team that really had some bad luck or something like that in the first leg but can still motivate their side to the maximum because of the good form they are in. A team like Tottenham will never find that extra spirit to reach the next round in their current situation. 1.70-1.75 is not big but good enough for some doubles. Likely home win for me! Goodluck guys

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th -> Chiriches, Dawson, Dembela, Lamela OUT -> Adebayor, Paulinho, Walker stayed in London -> Kaboul injured but will play sunday. -> Vertonghen is suspended. Got this from another forum so we will see a very weakened Tottenham side for sure! Which only favors benfica ofcourse.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th I think goals in Lisbon are almost a certainty, neither side will be playing cautiously and spurs look to be starting a makeshift back line. despite the missings spurs will have players capable of going forward still, in Eriksen, Siggy, Soldado, Lennon. Think we'll see another 3-1 to Benfica type of scoreline

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th 4pts Benfica vs Spurs - Over 2.5 goals 5/6 BetVictor The first leg of this tie had four goals in it and it could easily have had a lot more and I expect very similar in this second leg too. Spurs can’t really afford to sit back. They have to take the game to Benfica but they have no defenders so they will always be there for the taking on the counter attack. Often in this situation second legs are academic and largely boring but I don’t think that will be the case here. Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th In addition to Benfica - spurs overs, I'm also inclined to believe there will be goals in betis-Sevilla. Sevilla are no stranger to goals, and if you watched the first leg you know it was rather remarkable there were only two goals. Now with the urgency amped up ill wager, fully expecting more end to end stuff. Hopefully betis keeper doesn't have such ab amazing game and sone of the glorious chances that went begging, are finished this time around.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th We have a clash between 2 typical home sides in my opinion. In the first leg I backed Porto and I already knew I would back Napoli in the 2th leg. Odds for Porto were a bit better around 2.25 back then and now we only get 1.95 at best for Napoli. And they keep dropping at the moment! It was a quite entertaining game in Portugal both sides had several good chances to open up the score and especially Napoli failed upfront. Martinez scored a goal in the 2th half and made the difference but Napoli surely looked dangerous and a draw would have been fair to be honest. But on the other hand Porto got a clear goal disallowed after 15 minutes or so. All in all both teams have huge potential upfront and Porto will surely sit back tonight trying to find that decisive away goal. Napoli knows this ofcourse so they will be well aware. Don't think they will go all out from the start but the possession will be on their side for most of the game. Benitez is a good coach and he knows how to win silverware. Not going for the best game play award but he prefers the result in the end. Napoli holds a great record at home only 1 loss in 22 games against Parma. 4 draws and 17 wins this season! They lost a friendly though, and it was against Porto in pre-season. 1-3 so this should be another motivation factor for some revenge! 3 times in a row, I don't think so. Benitez can choose his best 11 for tonight and his bench also holds great quality. Their Champions league record at home is even more impressive with 6 wins and one draw against Bayern Munchen. This season they won all group games at home and they showed what they are capable of. A full house in Napels means war and I expect them to edge this one. Not sure about qualifying though but a win is likely for me. Porto on the other hand are having a season with ups and downs. They won at home against Napoli which was a boost ofcourse but they only won 2 games in their last 7. Especially away they struggle a lot. This weekend they lost a very important league game away at Sporting L. Away in the Europa league they also had major problems with Eintracht frankfurt and Vitoria conceding 5 goals in those 2 games. With only 2 away wins 3 draws and 5 losses in their last 10 games Porto can't be too confident ahead for this game. But the worst news for them is that they will miss their regular goalie Helton tonight. Which is a massive blow imo. This guy really saved them a lot in previous years. Regular defender Alex Sandro is also suspended which is another big blow. I have no doubts Porto will concede tonight. They might score a goal on the break with the speed of Martinez and Varela but Napoli is more than capable of scoring twice at home. They did it in 17 of their last 22 home games! I expect another entertaining game tonight with Napoli as winners. 2 bets for me pre-game. Napoli to win around 1.95! Medium stakes. Napoli team goals over 1.5 around 1.90. Medium stakes. Goodluck guys Probable starting 11 of Napoli : Reina Henrique - Fernandez - Albiol - Ghoulam Inler - Behrami Callejon - Hamsik - Insigne Higuain Probable starting 11 of Porto : Fabiano Danilo - Maicon - Reyes - Mangala Fernando - Carlos Eduardo - Defour Quaresma - Martinez - Varela

Of course, if Porto score one, Napoli will need to score three (as Porto won 1-0 in the first leg) :)

Benfica v Tottenham (Benfica lead 3-1 from the first leg) Just some thoughts about this one ...
Benfica v Spurs I watched the 1-3 game and Spurs were terrible. Benfica took them to pieces. Amazingly Spurs don't have one Summer buy that has been a great success. I don't know if AVB is solely to blame, but it is an assembled squad that has failed to gel. Stop Adebayor from scoring and there is just no goal threat. Benfica are showing unreal league form and it is carrying over to their Europe league form. They have 9 wins in 11 home games. They have scored 20 and conceded just 5 goals. They have 7 clean sheets in 8 home games. they are under 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 9 home games. I am not sure you can take the HW bet here. It could backfire similar to Dortmund last night, because the home team don't need to do to much to go through. With this lack of motivation (for home side to win), I think they will set up to just control the tempo and game. They have more than enough skill and ability to completely nullify Spurs. I see Spurs huffing and puffing all night and not doing much. Under 2.5 goals for me at odds of 2.08 BET365 2 units Fiorentina v Juventus Fiorentina have scored in evey home league game this season bar 1. Juventus have scored in every away games this season. The last meeting in the league finished 4-2 (I think Juventus were 0-2 up ?) At 1-1 there is all to play for in this second leg and I expect goals and both teams to score here BTTS is 1.8 on bet365 for 2 units over 2.5 goals is 2 on BET365 for 2 units Napoli v Porto Again I don't see many goals in this game. Napoli are firing blanks at the moment . 4 of their last 5 home league games have been under, and in three of these games they managed only one goals 2 of these games were against poor opposition (Genoa and CHievo). Porto are also finding goals tough to come by. I just can't see either of these evenly matched teams running away with it, or having a goal bonanza night. Tight game that goes under 2.5 goals. Under 2.5 goals at odds of 1.85 bet365 for 2 units Happy to take Napoli Under * Porto Under * Fiorentina over 2.5 at 6 to 1 for 3 units which is my bet for the evening.

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th 2 pts Benfica to win both halves 7/2 Stan James: An injury ravaged, confidence devoid Spurs travel to Benfica, and I see value in Benfica to win both halves here. After watching both sides previous games, Benfica away at Nacional, where they were quite mediocre, but still managed a 4-2 win, and Spurs, despite having a lot of the ball, never really threatened Arsenal, whilst looking alarmingly open to the counter attack nearly every time they went forward. Benfica are imperious at home, and even with this game well in control, I can't see Spurs without a centre back lasting a period of 45 mins without conceding, and without a forward like Adebayor for the likes of Eriksen to work off of, and with presumable replacement Soldaldo in absolutely dreadful form, I can't see Spurs scoring. Benfica are quite imperious defensively at home, on a current streak of 9 games without conceding. Pretty daunting for Spurs. Win both halves bets are always risky, but at the odds, I have to take a punt here.

I think goals in Lisbon are almost a certainty, neither side will be playing cautiously and spurs look to be starting a makeshift back line. despite the missings spurs will have players capable of going forward still, in Eriksen, Siggy, Soldado, Lennon. Think we'll see another 3-1 to Benfica type of scoreline
:p Roberto "I don't know where the goal is" Soldado I just can't see Tottenham getting anything out of this game. Lots of really important players missing, probably even old man Friedel in goal (?). Poor form in general. They don't know how to create chances. Sherwood outcoached by Jorge Jesus. Benfica without any significant absences. No rain forecast. Big pitch where Benfica can exploit all of Tottenham's weaknesses. Most importantly Benfica care about Europa League while Tottenham don't give a damn anyway (despite what they are saying).

Re: Europa League > Thursday March 20th Benfica Salzburg Sevilla to win 9/2 paddy power i think this is a great bet as these teams need to win and also they are favourites to win their ties also they will be up these games as they go far into the competition and sevilla does need to win their second leg as they are behind in the tie
