Look for numerous things really including the usual distance, form, going, jockey, price etc, as long as it looks like a donkey I'll study further into it's past. Final guide is a last minute thing regarding the market and whether the horse is being backed or not. Then there's the 'feeling' as well. The trainer was interviewed after the race and he was surprised as they were really wanting better ground. The form said the horse doesn't go in the mud and it was heavy going. Surprises all round then. You can't win them all, as long as you dodge most of the bullets/surprises it'll pay in the long run. Lost a few quid more on top of this bet to be honest which will take about 2/3 weeks to recover although I've had a decent run lately.
