Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Simon Dyson 35/1 skybet . Looks a decent price for someone with the game to win at The East London course. Robert Dinwiddie 110/1 bet365. He has performed well on the African part of the European Tour before, and he got a top 25 in the Joburg Open last week. Small EW punt looks decent value to me.

Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Morten Orum Madsen played his best golf of the season since he won the South African Open Championship in the Dubai Desert Classic where he finished T23 in a tough field two weeks ago. The young Dane caught the attention of many when he won the big event in South Africa at the start of the season and there is no doubt that in this weeks very weak field he has to enter calculations. He finished T20 in this event last season and there is every chance he can improve on that this year at 35/1 with Betfred. Local man Jbe Kruger finished second to Madsen in the South African Open Championship at the start of the season and although he is a very inconsistent player, on his day he is more than capable of landing a tournament. There were signs that he was coming back to form in the Joburg Open last week where he finished T31. He finished T8 in this event in 2011 and finished 3rd here in 2010 so I certainly think he has been a bit underestimated in the market. He is best priced 70/1 with Stan James which is too big in my opinion. Welshman Stuart Manley has shown a couple of glimpes of form that if he produced his best he could be able to pull off a big shock this weekend. He finished 2nd in the Hong Kong Open back in December and finished T43 in a very tough Qatar Masters recently also. He certainly is mostly a very average at best european tour player but he went very close to winning that Hong Kong Open and he got into a 3-way play off with Jiminez and Meesawat. I think he is worth a nibble here in a poor field at 140/1 with Bet365. Morten Orum Madsen - 1 Point each-way @ 35/1 Betfred Jbe Kruger - 1 Point each-way @ 70/1 Stan James Stuart Manley - 1 Point each-way @ 140/1 Bet365

Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Wow, what an awful field this is. Sorry for the short write ups this week. E.Grillo to win Africa Open, 3pts EW @ 22/1 Bet365 (1/4 odds 1-5) I'm a big fan of the Argentinian & am not going to desert him now in such a weak field. 2nd in the Dubai Desert Classic, a truly outstanding result & wasn't too shabby last week finishing 28th. His tee to green accuracy is excellent & that will help on this very short track where accuracy is key. Has twice played here before & recorded top 10's both times. He's also a much improved golfer now so I think he could go very well this week. D.Fichardt to win Africa Open, 3pts EW @ 22/1 Bet365 (1/4 odds 1-5) I'm not normally a fan of backing golfers to follow up last year's victory but I think Fichardt has everything in his favour again this week. 3 top 20's finishes at the Desert Swing before a missed cut last week. However, I think that could play into his hands as he'll come here a little fresher than others. Not only is he the holder but he has also recorded a 2nd place finish here so his liking for the course isn't in question. Great chance & more likely, in my opinion, than Aiken (at half the price) who blew up badly last week. D.Horsey to win Africa Open, 2.5pts EW @ 35/1 BetVictor (1/4 odds 1-5) One of the things to look out for here is previous form over similar short tracks that are affected by the wind. On that basis, David Horsey is the man to follow. 3 top 10's in 4 years at the KLM, a win & a 2nd in last 3 years at the Trophee Hassan. Looks pretty solid to me. Top 10 last week in Joburg where he ranked #1 for driving accuracy too. First time here but his game looks ideally suited & he's a big player this week, I feel. M.Kieffer to win Africa Open, 1.5pts EW @ 70/1 BetVictor (1/4 odds 1-5) My longshot for the week is a young German I'm convinced will open his European Tour winners account this season. Did ok on the Desert Swing but didn't play last week so will come here fresh. Tends to struggle a little on the longer tracks & I'm sure this shorter, more strategic course will suit his game. A 2nd at the Open De Espana last year was a great finish as was the same position in the shortened Nelson Mandela. A top 30 here last year on his debut is good enough & I expect Kieffer could be one of the ones to upset the odds this week.

Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Good luck all :ok. Tournament preview: 1pt ew M.Hoey to win Africa Open 35/1 Spreadex (1/4 1-5) With this course on the Eastern coastline in South Africa it is worth going for a player who can play in the wind and Michael Hoey has shown through his career he is someone who can do that. The biggest win of his career came in the Alfred Dunhill Links in 2011 and he’s also won on the coast in Portugal and Morocco so he’s something of a coastal specialist. He didn’t play last week but there was enough to suggest from his Desert Swing showings that he’s swinging the club nicely so in a wide open field he looks worth a touch at 35/1. Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Top Englishman preview: 2pts M.Baldwin Top Englishman 4/1 Ladbrokes The best form lines from any of the Englishmen going into this event probably belongs to Matthew Baldwin. He has been in the mix a couple of times recently but hasn’t got over the line. He was right in the mix in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago but faded away in the final round but a good final round last week saw him come in the top five which should give him confidence. He was second in the English contingent last week and he can go one better this week. Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Top South African preview: 1pt ew B.Stone Top South African 14/1 Ladbrokes (1/4 1-4) Brandon Stone has been going well in recent weeks and he has been trained to play in all conditions. He has the ability to hit the low shots which would be required if the wind gets up and he can play normal golf too when it is benign. He comes into this tournament with few expectations which might be no bad thing unlike some of the people in this market who will be looking to take advantage of a weak field. Stone has two top 20s in the last four weeks and another strong showing could see him top the South African charts this week. Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Very weak field, nothing more than a prestigious Sunshine Tour event really. Can't say I'm rushing to back any of the favourites so for interest I'm throwing a dart at Andrew Curlewis (680 @ Betfair). He was Top 10 in this event last year, which was easily his best year on the Sunshine Tour as he would later go on to win two titles back to back.

A full place and two shares of the place. Top work mate. Unlucky not to scoop the lot with Grillo too. Just one rotten hole cost him :sad

Re: Africa Open > February 13th - 16th Cheers mate. Well, I've no idea how to feel. I've had the leader going into Sunday in 3 of the last 4 events but not yet scooped the pot. I even backed Aiken last week. Not to worry though. One awful hole for Grillo & Fichardt's inability in the last 11 holes to hole anything cost me but hey ho. Matchplay next week. 34.13pts returned for a profit of 14.13pts.
