Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Metz – Caen Metz have had quite a lot of squad problems in 2014 but things are more simplistic for them tonight. Their only absentee is right back Romain Metanire (suspension). This is still a problem because he’s a quality full back and will be replaced by either Romain Inez (who is crap) or Jeremy Choplin who’s better suited to a CB position. Metz are otherwise at full strength and have new signing Eduardo in their squad for this match. At this level of football the ex Ajaccio playmaker could be very useful. Caen still miss their best defender Molla Wague to injury, this will now be the 6th straight game he misses which obviously affects their defence negatively. Influential captain Nicolas Seube also remains on the sidelines. In addition, winger Jonathan Kodjia is a new injury and misses the contest. What’s happened to Metz? They’ve won just 1 of their last 6 games and started off 2014 in horrible fashion. Perhaps their promotion bubble has burst and the players have felt the pressure of being top of the table? Well I think their main issue has been losing guys to injury and suspension respectively, their small-ish squad hasn’t been able to cope. Add in a couple of games full of bad weather and a couple of red cards and you can see why they’ve struggled. I’m convinced Metz will turn their form around soon though, there’s too much talent in their squad for them not too. They have the best home record in Ligue 2 with a great 8-3-0 statistic, Le Stade Saint Symphorian is a fortress and Les Grenats should be well supported tonight. Caen are one of those sides who have no problems facing the weaker teams in ligue 2 but their record facing stronger outfits is shocking. Of their 10 wins this season, just 2 have come against teams currently inside the top 11 positions, and one of those was actually on the opening day back in August ages ago. It’s even worse for them on the road where they’ve lost 6 times and drawn only once when facing a top 10 side. For some reason they just can’t pick up results against stronger units, will that trend continue tonight? Well apart from Metz’s recent poor form there’s little to suggest otherwise. Until Caen prove they can mix it with the big boys they are worth opposing IMO. A -0.25 AH line looks pretty generous on Metz and I’ll back them to bounce back in this fixture. I’m also going to have to take a piece of the overs here, certainly on this generous 2.25 line. Caen always attack in every game, even away. A whopping 10/11 of their road fixtures have ended over 2.5 this season. It should be an open encounter which Metz will hopefully edge. Prediction: Metz 2-1 Caen Recommended bets: Metz -0.25 @ 2.07 4/10 & Over 2.25 goals @ 2.06 4/10 Arles – Niort I’ve not got much to write about team news here because both team are at full strength! Niort will probably rest key playmaker Jimmy Roye to the bench, partly because he might not be fully recovered from injury, but also because the coach might not want to change a winning team. Neither side has any excuses in this department though and this will be a pure battle between two sides who are in very good form. Niort have won 5 straight games and this has propelled them up to 6th in the table. I wouldn’t say they’ve been anything special during this period, but Le Chamois have worked hard, seem to be playing for each other and have scored goals at very opportune times. But realistically Niort are just an average middle of the road team who don’t even have exceptional coaching. I wouldn’t expect them to continue this winning run for much longer. If they manage to pick up 3 points tonight then many people will have to take the more seriously though because Arles is one of the toughest road trips any side in Ligue 2 faces. It’s just an awful place to visit. The stadium is crap, the facilities are crap, the pitch is dodgy and the atmosphere is pretty low key. I just can’t envisage many players getting particularly excited about travelling to Le Parc des Sports. Arles are unbeaten here so far this season and have a 7-4-0 record, conceding just 4 goals in the process! The likes of Caen, Troyes, Metz, Lens and Dijon have all come here and failed to win, many of them actually suffering defeat. Arles are unbeaten in 9 games themselves and have been playing some pretty good football of late. Backing them on a -0.25 line @ this price is a bit of a no brainer really. Yes, a draw is maybe quite a risk but I have to give them the edge tonight. It’ll also be difficult for Niort to ‘get up’ following their emotional victory against Metz last week. It almost felt like that win was their ‘everest’ and we could see a drop off in performance following their climb to the summit. I fancy Arles to sneak it 1-0 or 2-0, the game won’t be much a classic. Prediction: Arles 1-0 Niort Recommended bet: Arles -0.25 @ 2.04 5/10

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Laval – Dijon The bad news for the hosts is that they miss key striker Christian Bekamenga to suspension. I never ever thought I’d say this, but quite simply he’s been a complete stud for them this season! The Cameroonian is the 2nd highest scorer in ligue 2 netting 11 times so far, he’s a massive part of their offence. However, the good news for Laval is that they have no other injury or suspension worries and welcome new signing from Monaco Gary Coulibaly (CM) into their squad. Coulibaly is a quality player at this level and should be a fine addition. Dijon have issues in defence where key man Cedric Varrault remains out but their biggest problems are in midfield. A total of 4 players are missing (Gastien, Baradji, Muluma & Marie) all of them ball winning defensive minded guys. Laval haven’t actually won any of their last 6 games but have actually been playing some good football. I’ve been pretty impressed with Les Tangos recently and they are definitely better than their ligue position of 18th place might suggest. Whether they can win without Bekamenga remains to be seen. But its been their defence which has looked fairly solid recently, so if they can keep a clean sheet then there’s every chance of a 3 point haul. Lval will have a massive edge in midfield tonight. They have a lot of strong players who can tackle hard and impose themselves physically. Dijon are going to be far too lightwright in the middle of the park and ultimately it might cost them. Dijon aren’t a side easily beaten, but it’s worth noting that they’ve only won 1 away game all season. It’s true that their tally of draws (7) is really high but by taking Laval on a 0AH the draw is less of a concern. Overall, I think this’ll be a really tight match containing few goals. I would absolutely LOVE this bet if Bekamenga was playing, but even with him missing I still like the hosts enough to take them for a few units. The price is too large to ignore and the chances of losing aren’t particularly high so definitely worth a shot IMO. Prediction: Laval 1-0 Dijon Recommended bet: Laval 0AH @ 1.93 4/10

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Meatman I saw on Arles official site they will be without Savanier, Ghandri and N'Diaye. I checked the starting line up in previous game and I find out only Savanier is a starter but Ghandri and N'Diaye almost every game enter from the bench. How important are they for Arles game

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Le Havre – Nimes Le Havre obviously have injury problems. The problem is in defence where Le Marchand is such a rock. Midfield is also going to be a problem now where they’ve only got one decent available DM in their squad! They could be overrun in the middle of the park and lack ball winning ability. Havre might have to operate more attack minded to counteract this. Havre have lost their last 2 games and are also heading into this match on the back of a short week. They played on Monday night following an energy sapping contest and emotional defeat facing Nancy away, so could be a bit flat here. Nimes have a 3 day physical advantage over them. The current target price on Le Havre -0.5 is just 1.92, but I would strongly suspect this will be raised once you factor team news and stuff into the equation. I don’t think this would be a good match to get involved in either way, even though Nimes do have a lot of things in their favour. The weather forecast isn’t very good. It will likely rain most of the day, sometimes heavily. Wind is expected to be strong too, at least over 20 mph consistently throughout the day. Le Havre’s pitch is usually one of the poorest in Ligue 2 and I’d be surprised if it played well considering today’s forecast. This will suit Nimes more as they can operate effectively using a more direct style. Havre’s best players are good technically. Prediction: Le Havre 1-1 Nimes NO BET CA Bastia – Chateauroux Team news is pretty favourable for both teams. Each will be missing a striker, in CA Bastia’s case this is the pacey Jonathan Rivas who is owned by Chateauroux hence unavailable. Losing Rivas will be a blow because his extra pace upfront has made them threatening recently. The visitors miss their regular frontman Maxime Bourgeois although he’s been noted by fans not to be putting much effort in recently, so perhaps this wont be a bad thing. CA Bastia have certainly looked a lot better recently and seem to have much more belief about themselves. They’ve been much more competitive in their last 3 ligue games, and even prevailed in the cup a couple of weeks back too. Their new signings look to have made a difference, but bear in mind Rivas is out here and their home record is pretty bad. CAB have yet to win at their ‘borrowed’ Stade Furiani this season, maybe they just can’t perform properly away from their own spiritual home. Chateauroux are renowned for their shocking results away from home. They have easily the worst road record out of anyone in Ligue 2 (0-2-9) and conceded a whopping 25 goals in the process. They just can’t deliver the goods away from their artificial home turf and its probably more of a mental issue for them now. It’s now been 23 months and a huge 34 games since they last obtained a victory on their travels. In total their record in this period reads 0-12-22, scoring 24 goals and conceding 59. The good news is that they’ve at least looked better since new coach JL Garcia took over, they’ve even taken the lead in both of their previous two away games. But they failed to hold on and collapsed at key periods, they seem to concede goals in clutches away. Both teams should attack here and I expect it to be an open game of football. Prediction: CA Bastia 2-2 Chateauroux NO BET Creteil – Clermont There’s not too much to say about this match. Creteil miss important midfield engine Ibrahima Seck so they will lack some stability and ball winning ability in this part of the field. Clermont no1 GK Fabien Farnolle is doubtful but expected to start. If he can’t play then it’d be a blow because he’s a pretty safe pair of hands and one of their better players. Key defender Cedric Avinel is another rated doubtful but who ultimately expected to play. Should both these guys miss out then Clermont might be vulnerable defensively. Creteil love to attack but Clermont will aim to be solid and hard to break down, so there’s a complete clash of styles. I really have no idea who is going to win and a draw seems the most likely outcome. Prediction: Creteil 1-1 Clermont NO BET

Savanier is suspended but not in any way vital, they have loads of guys who can play in his position.

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Auxerre – Istres Team news is pretty favourable for both sides. Auxerre do miss RB Eric Marester but youngster JC Castelletto has been improving the more he plays and isn’t necessarily the worst replacement. Istres have few injuries that matter, although will continue to miss the pacey Geoffrey Malfleury who impressed before injuring his metatarsal a few weeks ago. Auxerre are winless in 5 games but this is usually the sort of match they do well in. Istres aren’t going to come here and park the bus, they will attack and take risks. This should lead to an open game of football, Istres encounters are rarely boring. The problem for the visitors is that they’ll leave holes at the back which Auxerre may well exploit, they have the type of players who should be able to take advantage of the way Istres play. Auxerre’s home record is generally quite good (6-4-1), only Lens have managed to beat them here so far this season which is no disgrace. Istres’ away record is a poor 1-3-7 and they have conceded more goals on the road than any other side in Ligue 2. They are such a hard team to predict in terms of actual outcomes, they could either come and take their chances or self destruct massively. Prediction: Auxerre 2-1 Istres Recommended bet – None yet. But I WILL be backing Auxerre -0.5 4/10 stakes IF their price reaches 2.0. I do fancy them to win but I’m quite strict with myself as to what price I accept on them tonight. I need 2.0 to make it a reasonable worthwhile bet.

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Managed to make about 6 units here. Not too bad really, the Metz result was perfect. Arles' pitch was truly shocking, like a bog which made life difficult. 0-0 was pretty fair overall though and the Laval match also deserved to end goalless. Not really a problem considering the handicaps I took. Unfortunately the Auxerre price never got past 1.90, so I never managed to get on them! Typical they won! Maybe someone was able to take a juicy price with their local though

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Troyes – Lens The hosts miss their best defender, Mohamed N’Diaye to injury here which is a blow. Rincon will likely take his place in central defence, which could spell trouble because the Brazilian can sometimes be a liability, depending what how focused he is. Midfielder Guillaume Lacour remains out too, although Troyes are at full strength otherwise. The visitors Lens are plagued by a few injuries. At the back, important Ahmed Kantari misses out again, as does midfielder Jerome Lemoigne. Winger Edgar Salli is another on the treatment table, although he can be replaced fairly easily. Unfortunately new signings Tisserand and El Jadeyaoui are another duo affected by injury. Both have only started one game since their arrival in January though, so their respective absences won’t be felt too much (if at all). The key fact to remember here is that Troyes played less than 72 hours ago away from home in a Coupe de la Ligue semi final against Lyon. This was a massive match for them and they put everything they had into that encounter, eventually losing 2-1. Obviously it’lll be difficult for Troyes to recover both physically and mentally from that encounter in such a short space of time, especially as not too much squad rotation will likely take place. On the positive side for Troyes, they are playing at home in a 14:00 kick off, which usually favours teams in front of their own fans. The bad news is that Lens are mega used to performing at this time of day. Remarkably this will be their 11th Saturday lunchtime start of the season, which is an incredibly high number. They are one of the few teams in France that have managed to win on the road at this hour, in fact they’ve actually done it twice. If you consider this fact, along with Troyes’ having far less recovery time, I think it easily negates the homefield early kick off advantage ESTAC would usually have. This should be an open game of football. Both teams will attack, its their natural way of playing. Chances will be created at both ends and entertainment value will be high. The pitch at Le Stade L’Aube is also one of the best in the ligue which should help. Some showers might occur during the game but I don’t think it’ll affect the pitch quality too much. I’m surprised the goals line is 2.25 @ odds against, this is definitely worth a few units and seems very generous. I’m also going to have to back Lens. I rate them as the best overall team in the division and they usually perform well in big fixtures like this. They also have a remarkable record of not going more than one game without a win since late September! It seems whenever they draw or lose the players are so much more motivated to respond. I like taking the visitors on a +0.25 line and there’s every chance they can cover this fully. Prediction: Troyes 1-2 Lens Recommended bets: Lens +0.25 @ 2.10 4/10 & Over 2.25 goals @ 2.09 4/10

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th FT Troyes 1-0 Lens Sorry fellas but this was truly a horrible prediction by me, I totally got the match wrong. Troyes were easily the better team and deserved the win. The game was not open and contained few chances, deserved to end under as well. I cannot believe the 1-0 score hit me again (the only one in which I could lose both bets) but there is nothing I can do about it now. There is no unjust or hard luck story here. 1-0 Troyes was exactly fair. So disappointed in Lens today. They just weren't at the races and it was as if they hadn't woken up at all. Troyes were inexplicably the fresher despite having played less than 72 hours ago! I have no logical explanation to suggest by Troyes were so good and Lens so bad today. A loss of -2 for the round still with one match. I will back Tours on Monday night if team news is favourable.

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th By the way if anyone can come up with a logical reason why Troyes looked easily the most fitter and fresher less than 72 hours after playing a high intense and energy sapping cup encounter then please let me know. The amount of units I have LOST backing against teams recently playing in cups has been loads in recent weeks. It's crazy!

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th It was the fatigue factor against your early kick-off theory and the second won it comfortable. :D You often back the home side in these kind of fixtures and most of the time they pay off well. Your arguments were true so not much to do. Troyes played well and a few days rest was enough for them to perform on a high level! FC Tours look great at home, Nancy is hard to beat but they struggle for goals away from home recently. Tours is so strong at home, beaten the best teams in this league here. Let's hope team news is good, yeah.

The early kick off did hit Lens I think, as they were so much asleep it was untrue. But it's no excuse they are used to this because they played at this time many occasions before. Maybe should just stick to backing home teams or non at all no matter what the factors are for the 14:00 KO time, the home trend is amazing

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Well, I really like the overs for this game. FC Tours is scoring for fun at home this season but they also concede on a regular basis. We almost never back overs in france but this game has a huge potential for it. Tours last 6 home games went over 2.5 goals and even 4 went over 3.5! Last 9 games only 1 under for Tours. Odds are hugh if you ask me. Over 2.5 goals is around evens and over 3.5 goals 3.75?! Amazing. Nancy won their last game 3-2 at home against le Havre but away they often play tight. But since Tours will go all out in every home game there will be chances for sure. nancy is capable of scoring on the break atleast once. Tours can produce 2 or 3 goals on their own so no worries there. FC Tours will only miss their suspended regular defender T.Fontaine for this clash as a important absentee. nancy also has a pretty fit squad for this one only their striker Moukandjo is still out. I just hope Tours will come out gun blazing like in every home game they've played so far so it will open up the game for Nancy too. 2-1 3-1 are very likely scores for me here! I'll take over 2,5 goals with medium stakes and small stakes on over 3.5 goals! Also FC Tours to score 2 or more goals here with medium stakes! Goodluck all

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Tours – Nancy Tours still have the key midfield duo of Berenguer and Bergougnoux injured. These two guys are fairly important for them but have at least been missing for a few weeks so TFC should be starting to adapt without. In defence, Thomas Fontaine is suspended but they welcome new signing Bogdan Milosevic into their team tonight. I have no idea how good he is, but must be alright if the coach is willing to have him start. Nancy still have key attacker Benjamin Moukandjo on the sidelines. Roamin Grange joins him too and there are doubts over the participation of Alexandre Cuvillier as well. At the back, Cuffaut is another rated doubtful, but is included in the squad. Tours have a great home record (6-4-0) and nobody has beaten them at Le Stade Vallee du Cher yet this season. It’s a tough place for any side to get a result facing a very offensive minded outfit who are great going forward. The likes of Delort, Kouakou and Ketkeo have been in great form this season and they have other weapons too. In terms of the result, I strongly fancy Tours to prevail and taking them -0.25 looks like a good option. Nancy are a decent side but with potential absences that could hurt them, I’m always going to side with the hosts in a fixture like this. Nancy have failed to win any of their last 4 games on the road and it’s difficult to see them picking up 3 points tonight, a draw is probably the best they can achieve. Something has got to give here in terms of goals. 9 of Tours’ last 10 games have remarkably ended over 2.5. But on the other hand 8 of Nancy’s last 10 have ended under. There is a strong chance that they might come here and just defend, park the bus, targeting a draw. I’m also wondering who on earth is actually going to score for Nancy – apart from Jeff Louis who looks in defeat form recently. So because of the risk that Nancy might kill an overs bet I’ll reluctantly refrain from backing the 2.25, but I still fancy it because I think it’ll be an open match. Prediction: Tours 2-1 Nancy Recommended bet; Tours -0.25 @ 2.01 5/10

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Well I'm at a total loss here as to what went wrong. Tours were 1-0 up at HT and looking comfortable. I go up to take my kid to bed and 20 mins later it's 1-3? I honestly have no idea how Nancy turned this match around because they weren't in the game at all. The chances of losing this bet fully from a 1-0 HT lead are so low it's untrue, and yet it's happened to me here! Honestly feel like saying fuck you to this ligue sometimes

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th True, I had a lot of bets in my mind for Tours to win and over 2.5 goals. HT/FT bets etc so glad I took the overs.. I thought it was the right time to back goals! Tours always start pretty good in their home games so I had a nice double too with first goal together with 1860 Munchen first goal so overall a great night for me:D But I was also surprised Tours didnt win the game, in the second half I guess Nancy just ripped them with their fast counters. The home win was the right call pre-game. They've beaten all good teams here. I think this is Just a rare win from Nancy away.

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th

You must be kidding.See their last games and you'll see that Nancy is tough team especially when they play away. From the last 11 game they only have two losses' date='which must ring you a few bells. And what does that mean comfortable lead? There is no such thing in soccer.[/quote'] If a home team is leading 1-0 HT, in general the chances of them losing are as low as about 5-7%. This is especially the case in France where it rarely occurs. In ligue 2 it's only happened twice all season before last night, Brest v Creteil and CA Bastia -Chateauroux. Last season the only teams who were leading 1-0 at HT and lost ended up being relegated. So the chances of my -0.25 bet fully losing were ridiculously low and yet it happened. I accept a draw was never out of the question but I'd have still only lost half of my bet, see more here http://www.sotdoc.co.uk/football-data-analytics-looking-at-1-0-home-half-time-game-state-around-europe-who-are-the-winners-away-from-home-this-season/

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th It was a rare loss abigail. It's nice of you to comment after the game instead of pre-game but anyways, the odds for an away team who pre-game are underdogs are HUGE in every game if they are behind at HT with 1-0. Simply cause their win chances are very slim. All statistics proof this facts otherwise bookies would be a thief of their own wallet. And we all know they are not. :)

Re: Ligue 2 > February 7th - 10th Well, Nancy was the underdog in this game so when they are behind at HT with 1-0 their odds are hugh.. So if they turn the game around and win it's pretty rare that's what meatman ment. Ofcourse it happens sometimes but we never know when so if it's in a game you made a bet on than its just unlucky. :D
