Frazer
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th Ac Milan-Atletico Bet: Over 2 @ 1.8 (Pinnacle) (8/10) Bet: Atletico -0.25 @ 1.98 (Pinnacle) (8/10) Absolutely not sure what I am missing here. Yes Milan is an italian team and playing at home but this surely does not mean that the score line should be this one. Milan is playing a rather offensive football who does not care that much about defense. Also they have problems in defense conceding a lot of goals. For the match against Atletico it is pretty clear for them that they have to win the first match at home as they know how hard it will be to even get a point playing in Madrid. This means that Milan surely won't play defensively for 90 minutes. With the injuries of Birsa and Emanuelson their defense surely won't get better. In addition they will miss Robino and long term injuried El Shaarawy in offense. Zapata just returned to squad and won't be an option for 90 minutes against Atletico as well. Atletico on the other side has the right mentality for such a match. They always want to win and do this most of the time. They are having a great defense which will make it hard for Milan and an offense that can make goals out of the smallest chances. Once either Milan or Atletico shot the first goal the other team is surely going to get way more offensive than they already are as both will 100% want and need to win this match. Atletico will miss Filipe Luis and Javi Manquillo while Tiago is in doubt for the match. However their offensive is pretty much in full shape. All in all absolutely great odds for an over here. And as I think that Atletico has also the much better quality (Being up front in La Liga together with Barcelona and Madrid) compared to Milan who is struggling in serie a the full season and just getting lucky wins from time to time, I'm also placing a bet on Atletico -0.25 here. TotoSchillaci
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th Atletico is leading Spain while Milan is spluttering along in mid table. As long as it doesn't stay 0-0 for too long and then Balotelli gets a "mystery" 87th minute penalty to win 1-0 then I think the draw not bet on Madrid is value here. Depends on if Simeone is happy with a draw or not. Because I believe if he goes for it he can win easy here against the pretenders.
kevshat
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th 4pts A.Madrid to beat AC Milan 5/4 Ladbrokes AC Milan did well to get through the group stages with the way their season is going but I think their European adventure ends here because this is a high quality Atletico side who are playing some nice stuff and who have some very dangerous players. I don’t think they’ll be out of sight after this first leg but with the amount of talent on the sidelines for the home side I do expect Madrid to take a lead back to Spain with them. weremole
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th I guess people will never learn that current form in Italy means nothing for AC Milan when they need to play CL game. It was same story last year with Barcelona and it was same story this year with Barcelona when people thought Milan is in awful form in Italy and they can't get anything against Barcelona. This is totally different competition and Milan always performed on high level in CL in the past. The only problem will be creativity because Montolivo is suspended (only important missing) and probably AC Milan will start with Essien and De Jong both destructive players who should be connection between defense and attacking midfielders. Poli, Kaka and Tarabt should start with Balotelli as striker. Birsa, Robinho and Emanuelson are not important because even if they were ready to go still they would have been on the bench Atl.Madrid are not on their best form either. They were destroyed by Real Madrid and couldn't keep the pressure against Almeria. Atl.Madrid is favorite by the bookies but they are not such great experienced team in CL. Odds are going down for Atl.Madrid probably based on their good form and because AC Milan is desperate lately but like I said this is different competition. I will go with AC Milan or draw odds 1.70 local bookers medium stake
andypaps28
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th AC Milan v Atletico Madrid o This will be the first competitive meeting between these two sides. o AC Milan have been knocked out in each of their last four Champions League knockout ties against Spanish teams. o AC Milan have only won one of their last 13 Champions League games against Spanish teams (6 draws, 6 defeats), a 2-0 victory against Barcelona in February 2013. o Atletico Madrid have won their last three competitive encounters with Italian teams, in all competitions (8 goals for, 1 against). o AC Milan have been knocked out in the last 16 in four of their last five Champions League campaigns. o AC Milan have won only two of their last 12 Champions League knockout games (3 draws, 7 defeats). o AC Milan have averaged 38.6% of possession in the Champions League this season, the lowest ratio among the 16 remaining teams in the competition. o This is only the third time that Atletico Madrid have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League after 1996/97 (quarter finalists) and 2008/09 (last 16). o Atletico Madrid have only conceded three goals in the Champions League this season, the best defensive tally alongside Chelsea and Manchester Utd. o Atletico Madrid are one of only three teams still unbeaten in the Champions League this season, alongside Manchester Utd and Real Madrid. o Atletico Madrid have completed 77.1% of their passes in the Champions League this season, the lowest ratio among the last 16 teams remaining in the competition. o None of AC Milan's last eight Champions League games at San Siro has produced more than two goals. Five of those have ended in draws. o Mario Balotelli has netted seven goals in 27 Champions League games, five of them coming from set-piece (3 penalties, 1 direct free-kick, 1 indirect free-kick). o Diego Costa has scored 4 goals in his last 3 Champions League games. o Raúl GarcÃa has scored/assisted six of Atletico's last 10 Champions League goals. I will go with AC Milan or draw odds 1.70 local bookers medium stake Isn't it always the case with Milan, they're just a different animal in the CL. They've been dire lately in Serie A, even last week it took a cracker from Balo late on to beat lowly Bologna. They're still experienced and this is the same team that drew Barca at the San Siro a couple of months back and were competitive at the Nou Camp. Also Milan have faced teams that have packed the box when defending, and they're really struggling to get width to break these teams down. Think Atletico will go for it a little more than the average Serie A side, opening things up a little. The main concern i have with Milan is Seedorf, not sure if he can get the right tactics for the opposition, Allegri always seemed to get the right tactics in these matches for Milan. Still think they won't lose this match as they rarely do at home in the CL. Milan +0.25 @2.075 with bet365
scotty657
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th This should be a close encounter. Atletico have the edge in terms of confidence though they may be a tad nervy heading to the San Siro for a sort of tie which has been rare for the club in recent years. Milan as we've seen in recent years can improve for these occasions but I can't put trust in them at present. I'd be more worried for Milan if they were up against a pacey attack. Bonera and Rami may thrive on the challenge of Costa and Villa more than they would a nippier strike-force. Not that I'm dismissing a potentially lethal Atletico attack, but it may not provide the challenge Milan would dread. fat
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th A shaky veteran takes on an exciting youngster at home. Experience is critical at this stage of the competition and Milan have just that. Don't take league form into consideration, Milan is a much better team in Europe. They performed admirably well against Barca last season with a weaker squad. I fail to see why they can't deliver the same thing this time around. Atletico is a surprise package in La Liga but they are rookie in this sort of matches. I'm leaning towards the experienced home team and confident that they will earn at least a point here. My pick is Milan +0.5 (8/10) Good luck.

Rob the I ty
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th Well done Scotty, thought it was harsh result for Milan who really dominated the first half and Atletico scored on their only chance of the match off a blunder by Abate and the Milan defense. That's football and Atletico took there chance.

Was refreshing to see such a crowd at the San Siro too. Biggest I've seen in a while. It looks tough now but they aren't totally beat yet. weremole
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th My favorite team is now a joke. Even when they play good they still lose games. Well the most trophy president in history of football took the Milan from the bottom, made from Milan the most trophy team and now slowly but surely he'll bring AC Milan back where he found it. BTW great assist by Abate, they should have took those 12 m from Zenit for Abate
scotty657
Re: AC Milan v Atlético de Madrid > Wednesday February 19th It's sad to see Milan, and Inter, so average nowadays. I keep hearing they are in transitional periods but I don't see the evidence. What players have Milan been implementing in the side which could be there in five years time? De Sciglio maybe? Saponara, Poli, El Shaarawy, Cristante? There is a real possibility that without a wise long-term plan and investment these sides will not be back at Europe's top table for a long time.
