Bowles' flat racing bets

Recommended Posts

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets some more for later: 6.00 Bath STRIDER came out of Stoute's stable last season & was campaigned on the AW to no success. Ran back on the turf a couple of weeks ago with a 3rd place in a similar contest as today. Last year his turf rating was 78, today the horse runs off 59, should account itself well & sepncer's record for Evans speaks for itself, with already 5 wins & 9 places from 23 races this season. Around the 8/1 mark, i'll take 5pts ew at SP. 8.00 Bath WILLHEWIZ normally runs in better company than this. Tapa would seem the obvious form choice but may not find this stiff 5f to its liking. Tentative selection this one, but stood out again on the ratings. 5pts ew @ SP Total staked for Thursday 30pts.

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets good luck andy, difficult card to win money on, not sure if i can help, but i hope so. Steve Drowne is your jockey for this track & always worth a pound a race on what he rides as he is liable to to have a few big price one to look at. His mounts are: 530 Wizard Prince 600 Eva Jean 630 Over the limit 700 Kiama 730 Cree I think i'll keep an eye on that lot.

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets

Thursday's selections (no 20/1 winners today though!) Bev 2.50 Elidore has attracted my interest here. Raced in Group 3 & listed company as 2yo without setting the world alight. Was given a rating of 96 for its last run as a 2yo. Its 3yo career consisted only of 4 runs in handicaps off 95, 92, 90 & 84 with best effort being 3rd in a conditions race. Last season it had 11 runs, the best of which when finishing 2nd to Compton Drake (btn nk) off 64. it has the benefit of a recent run 5th behind Duelling Banjos 3 weeks ago. Today it runs off career lowest mark of 60. The main worry i have is the trip which is just short of 1m 2f, the horse has only won over 6/7f & seems to lead but then weaken. I can only imagine as there is money for the horse today that a new tactic may be used & Seb Sanders has been booked to ride the horse for the 1st time. I'll take a chance at 14/1 with UK betting (as low as 10's elsewhere) 5pts ew Just looking at the evening racing so may add one or 2 during the day.
:wall why do you consistently run a horse over a distance if it does not stay? This horse must be run over 7f - 1m next time as it can cover that distance with ease, then it falls into a hole. I thought they may try something different today. I will be on if it runs over 7f next time.

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets 2.55 Sandown I am going to risk 20pts on backing 2 horses in this race as I cannot split them. PRINCE SAMOS & ENFORCER are the 2 in question. Enforcer comes from a stable struggling to find a winner. However, there was much to like about his performance LTO & they feel there is a win in this horse. Hannon is always a trainer to fear at sandown & brings Prince Samos fresh from a win on the AW off a much higher rating than today. hopefully the horse can take that form to the turf. Both 5pts ew @ SP's

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets Todays bets Sand 3.45 NORSE DANCER is the class act here & STREAM OF GOLD the young pretender on the Group scene. Negatives for Norse is that the horse has to come from off the pace to win, whereas i can see Stream getting to the front 2 furlongs out & holding them all off. The only thing I will split them on is Norse's experience & the Sandown hill can be a bit daunting when in front with a large crowd cheering on the chasing pack. 10pts Win @ 5/2 Ladbrokes 2.20 Ripon ANGELOFTHENORTH looked a progessive sort last time out & drawn in 6 of 10 should be ok to take this race. Can defy a penalty. 10pts win @ 9/4 Bet365 3.40 Leicester PUTRA PEKAN ran into Doncaster specialist Autumn Glory LTO & was leading to the final furlong when fitness took its hold & was beaten into 3rd place. I am happy to take on the Cumain favourite with this one who is very experienced at this level & the odds represent excellent value in my book. 5pts ew @ 11/2 Corals 30pts staked

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets only one for me today: 5.35 Brighton IMPERIUM has ran 4 times at Brighton over 5f & record reads 2nd-1st-1st-3rd & today is drawn in the highest stall which is not a bad thing looking at past results on the track. Ridden by Steve Drowne who has a reasonable record on this track also. The value is in the price at 25/1 with Ladbrokes Have 5pts ew @ 25/1

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets Hamilton 2.20 BLUE PATRICK 10pts win @ 4/1 PPower Kevin Ryan has got the horse running well on the AW & if able to transform that to the turf, should give a good account today. Had a much higher turf rating than this previously without really setting the world alight. last win on turf was off 88 in Jul 03. Off 64 today. Hamilton 3.20 BUNDY 5pts ew @ SP Won a seller last time out, but is always worth keeping on side when in form. Trainer normally places the horse well & drawn in a high stall today should go well. Is very closely matched with Viewforth though, but i'll take Bundy with its better draw. 20pts staked

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets will update totals after evening racing, Bundy was 2nd @ 6/1. Tonight: 5.30 Winds, difficult race to pick a winner from as most unraced, of the ones who have a race under thier belt, FIRST BYTE would have a chance but I am more interested in the draw here as i am expecting the ground to be a bit softer than forecast after heavy rain today. Drawn in the 1 box, first byte could take the beating. On the high numbers, GIVE ME THE NIGHT (stall 14) is an interesting Ed Dunlop runner. Anything Hannon sends out in this type of race is also worthy of note & GAMBLE IN GOLD is his runner tonight from stall 4. No bet for me! 6.00 Winds MIKAO won over C/D last october & off a rating of 80. Comes in today off 75 for this classified stakes & i think the horse will take the beating if the ground has some cut in it. For me OLIVIA ROSE is the danger here but my vote just goes for Mikao with Richard Quinn in the saddle. 5pts ew @ 13/2 Ladbrokes 7.00 Winds I am waiting to see the effect of the ground/draw in the 5.30 but i am interested in those drawn low & will post later once i know.

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets Gamble in Gold won the 5.30 from stall 4 but 2nd & 3rd were drawn high. However, this was a 2yo race where some horses do not see out the race. I'll be happy to stay on the low numbers for the 7.00. Some big prices here also: Vienna's Boy @ 25/1 Farewell Gift @ 33/1 Nivernais @ 6/1 my staking plan on here is 10pts per race, but i dont want to lay out 30pts on this, so i'll take a very tentative 5pts ew @ 33/1 on FAREWELL GIFT.

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets have some more to look at tonight but at Bath for the afternoon, I will take the following: 2.05 Bath GREEN PRIDE took my attention in this maiden. I know the race is difficult to assess with many unraced in the field. However, the Hannon/Hughes partnership on 2yo's is one i tend to follow (they had 7-1 winner last night). The other 2 in the field were HIGH SEASONS & ROYAL POWER from the Millman/Chanon yards who again must be feared in this type of race. However they are both drawn higher than i would like. My selection is in stall 8 of 18, so hopefully can take advantage of the lower draw. It showed last week at Windsor it could get in front but unfortunately was on the wrong rail that day. It should improve for that run & interesting to see Hannon bringing it out again after only 1 week. 10pts win @ SP 3.05 Bath SIGNATORY caught my eye when it raced at Newmarket 2 weeks ago. Favourite that day, just failed to hold off the Elsworth trained Top gear & leading to the furlong post that day, i saw enough to believe it can win a race of this standard. 10pts win @ SP 4.35 Bath An interesting listed stakes over 5f. My initial thought was that Paradise Isle would be a good thing here, but I have been swayed towards the Butler trained SUMORA who on his reappearance ran on the AW behind Party Boss in March. That race turned into a bit of a sprint & this horse was one of those that didnt quicken but stayed on well to finish in 5th (btn under 2l). Will have to come from behind again today but hopefully Eddie Ahern will not let them get too far in front. A decent ew shout. 5pts ew @ 8/1 Corals 30pts staked

Re: Bowles' flat racing bets 6.10 Warwick HIGH RIDGE trained by sprint specialist Milton Bradley is my selection here & hoping the ground stays on the faster side of good. Seems to run better when faced with an extended 5f rather than further. Had winning form May/June last year & Bradley can get them fit enough 1st time out. Managed to turn over the 5f specialist Devon Flame last year on firm ground & maybe the going will not be as fast as he wants it tonight? 5pts ew @ 16/1 Sporting odds Hayley Turner finds winners at Yarmouth & tonights racing is the banded stuff which is very poor. I believe these 2 are slightly better than their rivals & can give Hayley a double on the night: 6.25 Yarmouth BAYTOWN FLYER 10pts win @ SP 6.55 yarmouth TOTALLY SCOTTISH 10pts win @ SP 30pts staked 60pts staked on the day
